Second Big Torching Of NATO Supplies and Vehicles Happens In Pakistan

For the second time in as many days, Taliban-backed forces in Pakistan have torched a supply of NATO vehicles destined for the War in Afghanistan - this time 100 vehicles were destroyed. In the first attack just two days ago, over 200 vehicles were torched. Here's some of the details from Breitbart:

Armed militants torched nearly 100 vehicles destined for NATO forces in Afghanistan early Monday, the second such raid in two days, police said.
The latest attack on a container terminal near the northwest Pakistani city of Peshawar came a day after Taliban militants launched the biggest such raid to date, destroying nearly 200 vehicles in the area.
This time the attackers set nearly 100 vehicles alight including jeeps and 20 supply trucks after dousing them with petrol, police said.
Firefighters called to the scene managed to save another 40.
"It was almost the same type of attack as the one conducted by 200 armed militants" the previous night, police official Anwar Zeb told AFP.
Apparently, the Pakistanis are arranging for a few "Barney Fife" type security guards to watch over these supplies of NATO vehicles and then the Pakistanis send in police after the fire is about 3/4 of the way raging and run off the "militants."

So, what do you suppose might stop this type of attack on NATO supply lines? Let me offer up some suggestions:

1. The government of Pakistan is responsible for paying back NATO for the entire cost of the lost vehicles. Payment is due within 30 days.

2. All international aid going to Pakistan is suspended until Pakistan pays the bill and agrees to a great security force for future convoys and inventoried supplies.

3. NATO will place troops in Pakistan to guard these shipments.

4. For every vehicle destroyed in these attacks, NATO predator drones and F-16's will take out one village hut owned by the Taliban in the NW tribal areas.

Perhaps any one of my suggestions might be effective, who knows, but the fact of the matter is this - NATO and U.S. commanders better find an alternative supply route pretty damn quickly...although I don't see much of an option - I doubt that we can count on Iran letting our humvees and trucks go through their land, hahaha. It will be interesting to see how the Obama administration comes up with an answer to this situation - my guess is that Obama will decide that the U.S. and NATO will stop any tough talk with Pakistan and also end all UAV attacks inside the country in order for our supply convoys to travel into Afghanistan - which of course will NOT stop the convoy attacks and only embolden the Taliban in Pakistan.

Pakistan militants torch 100 NATO vehicles: police

"The militants fled from the scene when police arrived," he added.
A security guard said around 200 armed men had attacked the terminal in the early hours before fleeing.
Such attacks occur frequently in Pakistan, but police described the first raid, in the early hours of Sunday, as the biggest of its kind so far.
In that incident, the attackers overwhelmed security guards -- killing one -- in a coordinated raid targeting three different locations in Peshawar.
NATO has some 50,000 troops in Afghanistan and much of their supplies come through Pakistan.

We just need to get the Baghdad to Kabul highway going and send supplies that way.
