Yet Another U.S. Missile Strike Hits The Target In NW Pakistan

More good news! A U.S. predator drone sent two missiles into the home of a suspected Taliban sympathizer and organizer. That target, Ameer Gul, was killed along with 11 others and while the article states that "12 people" were killed, a bit later in the article we see this:

Another official in the region said at least five foreigners, a term locally used to describe Arab and Central Asian militants, were among the dead.

Now, that shows the effectiveness of the intel on this strike as those five "foreigners" taken out were either Arab al Qaeda or central Asian Taliban. Here's more from the article at Thaindian News:

An airstrike by a US drone aircraft killed 12 people Friday in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region, Pakistani officials said. The pre-dawn attack targeted a militant hideout in Waladeen, a remote village some 75 km west of Miranshah, main town of Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal district, a known hub of Al Qaeda and Taliban militants.

At least two missiles struck the house of tribesman Ameer Gul near the border between the North and South Waziristan districts at around 1:45 a.m., destroying the structure.
Gul was believed to have links with Taliban militants, who routinely carry out cross-border attacks on international forces in Afghanistan. Gul was killed in the airstrike, according to the official.

Let's face it, folks...these predator drones conducting attacks at least twice a week for the past six weeks have changed the landscape in the War in Afghanistan. Have you noticed a drop in some of the massive attacks by the Taliban inside of the Afghan border? I have. I'm sure the issue has to do with the Taliban being nervous about their movements from inside of Pakistan to the Afghan border and then their return retreat. Couple these drone attacks with the fact that the U.S. has shown a commitment to cross the Pakistani border with Apaches and actual troops and you have the Taliban in a state of chaos.

One other benefit of this wave of U.S. attacks is going to be the unease that it will create for senior al Qaeda leadership hiding in Pakistan. If these attacks continue, and we certainly hope they do, we will more than likely see al Qaeda's top leaders moving even more frequently and we might just see them try to exit the NW tribal areas of Pakistan.

12 killed in US airstrike in Pakistan: officials

Islamabad, Nov 14 (DPA) An airstrike by a US drone aircraft killed 12 people Friday in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region, Pakistani officials said. The pre-dawn attack targeted a militant hideout in Waladeen, a remote village some 75 km west of Miranshah, main town of Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal district, a known hub of Al Qaeda and Taliban militants.
“The attack killed 12 people and wounded at least four others,” a security official said on the condition of anonymity.
Another official in the region said at least five foreigners, a term locally used to describe Arab and Central Asian militants, were among the dead.
The attack came as General David McKiernan, commander of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, visited Islamabad.
On Thursday evening, McKiernan briefed a select group of Pakistani lawmakers on the security situation along the Afghan frontier, media reports said.
The briefing session, that took place at the residence of US Ambassador Anne W. Patterson in Islamabad, earlier drew criticism in the Senate, the upper house of Pakistan’s bicameral parliament, as it was not coordinated with the country’s foreign ministry.
Some of the invitees boycotted the event that was described as a “discretionary exercise”.
Friday’s drone attack was the latest in a series of airstrikes by US-operated pilot-less aircraft on militants hiding in Pakistan’s tribal region close to the Afghan border. Dozens of people, including several non-combatants, have been killed in the attacks.
Pakistan, a key US ally, has been angered by the intensified airstrikes in its tribal region, warning such actions would prove “counterproductive” in the fight against terrorism. It has repeatedly said the country’s territorial integrity must be respected.

Must really suck when there is no place to hide and plan. We need to keep hammering them befor Obama gets in and trys to make this a kinder and gentler war.

exactly Shark - I'm sure Obama's plan will be to hold a "summit" with the Taliban and get a list of their grievances.
