Taliban Demand Release of 136 Taliban Prisoners In Exchange For 2 Kidnapped Chinese Engineers

The Taliban, who kidnapped 2 Chinese engineers in the NW area of Pakistan, are demanding the release of 136 Taliban jihadists currently sitting in Pakistan prisons. Now, the bad part of all of this is that the Pakistanis will probably go through with it. But, if these two engineers had been captured inside of China and these demands were made of the Chinese, the Chinese wouldn't consider it for a second and would, more than likely, launch an attack on the islamists and basically kil at least 136 to even out the ransom demand.

Here's the brief details from the article over at Memri:

According to a report in the Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Jang, the Taliban have demanded that the Pakistani government hand over 136 of their fighters in exchange for two Chinese engineers.
According to the report, the Taliban in the Swat district of Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province (NWFP) said the two Chinese engineers kidnapped by them will be released soon after the government met with their demand.
Now, I'm not sure the Taliban REALLY outta be pissing off the Chinese government at this time - do the Taliban want to add some Chinese revenge to the chaos going on in Pakistan? At the same time, the Chinese will probably figure that it isn't any skin of their asses if Pakistan buckles under these demands and they get their two engineers back.

Hopefully, the Pakistani officials will realize that the Taliban know they are sitting on two hot potato hostages here - this is different than a bunch of South Korean women...these are Chinese men and China has shown the world recently just how intolerant they are of the islamists in their own country. I'm hoping this blows up in the Taliban's faces and quite frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the Taliban release these two in the next couple of days on their own if the Pakistanis don't cave in the meantime.

Taliban Demand 136 Fighters In Exchange For 2 Chinese Engineers

According to a report in the Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Jang, the Taliban have demanded that the Pakistani government hand over 136 of their fighters in exchange for two Chinese engineers.
According to the report, the Taliban in the Swat district of Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province (NWFP) said the two Chinese engineers kidnapped by them will be released soon after the government met with their demand.
According to the report, Haji Muslim Khan, a spokesman for the Taliban, also rejected a draft of the Shari’a law proposed by the NWFP government, saying it was not in consonance with the Koran.
However, Muslim Khan said that a meeting of the Ulema has been called by the Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat-e-Muhammadi (Movement for the Enforcement of Islamic Shari’a) to discuss the draft Shari’a law, the report added.
In order to buy peace with the Taliban, the secular government in the NWFP has proposed Shari’a law for the Swat-Malakand region of the province.
