Hamas Threatens To Put Shalit Talks On Hold If Egypt Doesn't Free Hamas Leader

More threats and blackmail from the elected terrorists of the Gaza Strip today, as Hamas has threatened to put negotiations regarding the release of Israel's Gilad Shalit on ice if Egypt (the talks moderator) doesn't release a Hamas leader.

Here's the details from the piece over at Haaretz:

Hamas could halt talks on the release of Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit if Egypt refuses to free from jail one of the militant Palestinian group's leaders, a Hamas official said Friday.

Hamas wants Egypt to release Ayman Nofal, a senior military operative arrested in Egypt on suspicion he was planning to attack targets there.
But Hamas leader Youssef Farhat told a rally of hundreds of Hamas supporters on Friday that Egypt could not play a mediation role as long as it held him. "We have put the file of Shalit in the fridge and it will remain frozen unless Ayman Nofal is freed," Farhat said.

Okay, if that's the game that Hamas wants to play then let's heat it up a little and let Israel make the statement that if Shilat isn't returned to Israel in 30 days, then Youssef Farhat becomes a cinder. And instead of the Shalit file going in the "fridge" , we'll put Farhat's remains in the fridge. That would work with me.

Hamas to Egypt: Free prisoner or we'll freeze Shalit talks

Hamas could halt talks on the release of Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit if Egypt refuses to free from jail one of the militant Palestinian group's leaders, a Hamas official said Friday. Shalit was kidnapped by Gaza militants from an IDF base in a cross border raid in June 2006. Talks have been underway between Israel and the rulers of the Gaza Strip, Hamas, under Egyptian mediation, to free hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Shalit's release.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the comments reflected frustration within Hamas over the situation. "Nofal's continued detention is annoying and it has topped the agenda of all talks with Egyptian officials. We hope Egypt can end it by freeing him," Abu Zuhri said.
