Iranians Scoff At The West, Claim That They Can Easily Shut Down Strait Of Hormuz

I know, I know...it's been at least two days since the Iranians taunted the West again regarding it's retaliatory strength against any attack on Iran. But here's the latest, from an article coming from Khaleej Times Online:

Iran would easily be able to close the key oil shipping route of Strait of Hormuz if the country were attacked over its nuclear programme, the head of the Revolutionary Guards was quoted as saying on Monday.
Iran has ‘the possibility of closing the Strait of Hormuz easily and on an unlimited basis,’ state radio quoted Revolutionary Guards commander-in-chief Mohammad Ali Jafari as telling a news conference.

'In view of the proximity of the Strait of Hormuz ... to our shores, this distance is within the range of an assortment of weapons and its closure for us is very feasible and we face no limitations from the point of view of time,’ Jafari said.

Am I the only one sick of these asshats? I mean, I'm at the point right now I just want to bomb the crap out of Iran for nothing but the satisfaction of watching them eat their burning words. These guys sound like some bad movie from the 50's. The world has distinct knowledge of exactly what the Iranians have to put up in a fight and I've yet to see one expert concerned about their ability to close the Strait of Hormuz for any length of time.

But beyond that, there's something else I'd love to be able to tell the Iranians. And that is that if by some quirck of fate, they did get the Strait closed and they shut off oil exports to the U.S. and other countries for a week or a month or six months or a year or forever...we'll still be standing strong doing our deal each and every day without the damn oil, fools. Have the mullahs failed to read their history books on what the American people sacrificed in World War I and World War II? Do these idiots in Persia have any idea the lengths the American people will go to just to see the Iranians pay the price for acts of war?

The Iranians had a bird's eye view of Afghanistan when the U.S. brought a world coalition to bear down on the Taliban regime in Afghanistan and totally decimated that regime. The Iranians know full well that if they did one thing to close the Strait of Hormuz, the repurcussions could literally wipe their land from the globe. This is just their latest tactic of now trying to use the world's oil as a hostage until they get their nukes built. And I'm one American that wants to know when these peons will finally get their asses handed to them.

Iran able to close Strait of Hormuz easily: radio

TEHERAN - Iran would easily be able to close the key oil shipping route of Strait of Hormuz if the country were attacked over its nuclear programme, the head of the Revolutionary Guards was quoted as saying on Monday.
Iran has ‘the possibility of closing the Strait of Hormuz easily and on an unlimited basis,’ state radio quoted Revolutionary Guards commander-in-chief Mohammad Ali Jafari as telling a news conference.
The United States and Israel, Iran's arch foes, have not ruled out military action if the Islamic Republic continues work that they suspect is aimed at making nuclear weapons.
Iran rejects the charge and has repeatedly said it would retaliate if attacked. The United States has pledged to keep oil shipping routes open in case of conflict.
‘In view of the proximity of the Strait of Hormuz ... to our shores, this distance is within the range of an assortment of weapons and its closure for us is very feasible and we face no limitations from the point of view of time,’ Jafari said.
Oil movement through the Strait of Hormuz, the sea channel along Iran's coastline at the entrance to the Gulf, is estimated to account for roughly 40 percent of all seaborne oil traded, most of it going to Asia, the United States and western Europe.
