The Likud Party in Israel is finally speaking out and this is what they had to say, according to the report from YNET:
Short, sweet, and true. Course I would have gone on and on with about 100 more examples of timidness by the Israeli government but no one probably would listen to me. But the Israelis will listen to The Likud.
With all of the legal issues facing Olmert and more or less a mutiny against him among cabinet members, the days may be growing shorter for Olmert's reign. Many have speculated about a replacement but in my view, it's not so much the person, it's the position.
A new leader, with the same appeasement attitude will probably make the situations worse. But the fact of the matter is that Israel is facing its toughest tests in perhaps the nation's entire history. We have the Iranians building nuclear weapons that will be able to reach all of Israel. We have Hezbollah rearming and repositioning themselves in southern Lebanon and hold veto power in the Lebanese government. We have Syrian troops still holding a line closer and closer to Israel's border. And we have Hamas becoming more and more bold with each day.
What the Israelis must face is this: on one day, if the right coordinated attack was pulled off, there could be Iranian missiles raining down on Tel Aviv, Hezbollah missiles raining down on northern Israel and rockets from Hamas hitting the south. What I have proposed all along is a strategy to start severing each of the arms of this octopus of evil. Take out Hamas first, that would be easiest. Then move on to Hezbollah...pushing them entirely out of Lebanon and forcing them to hustle their asses into Syria. And then finally, address the Iranian nukes with U.S. assistance.
You would need a helluva ballsy leader in Israel to do all of that. I don't know of one off the top of my head but one better appear pretty soon.
"The government's helplessness, and its lack of proper response to the two murderous bulldozer attacks in Jerusalem encouraged the terror groups to escalate their actions, said the party's statement.
