These are the same government officials of Pakistan that just the other day said they would not allow any U.S. forces in Pakistan to take out al Qaeda and today, the Prime Minister himself, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, admitted that al Qaeda has foreign fighters INSIDE of Pakistan and that they are more than likely planning world wide attacks. Here's some from the article at Geo Network:
I don't know exactly why Gilani stopped short on his list of countries of the foreign fighters but he certainly could have included Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Morocco and Algeria.
At the same time, I think the U.S. and NATO have proven that the new government of Pakistan is pretty spineless in regards to keeping the U.S. out of operations inside of the country. With the recent peace agreements that the Pakistani government has either made or tried to make with the Taliban, it's clear to the U.S. that Pakistan is going to continue to insulate al Qaeda within its borders.
Perhaps someone needs to remind Gilani what happened to the last regime of a country that harbored al Qaeda and bin Laden after a world wide attack. If I was Gilani, I'd seriously look at the options he has to rid the country of al Qaeda before they pull off another major world wide attack and he is called upon to make the same decision the Taliban were given after 9/11.
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that foreigners are present in the tribal areas and incident like 9/11 could happen again.Talking to media, Prime Minister Gilani said Chechens, Uzbeks and other foreigners are present in Pakistan’s tribal region.
