The signs are becoming more and more obvious that the Iranian government, the mullahs, the islamic clerics are slowly but surely losing their grip of control on the Persian land. Whenever you see the state needing "crackdowns", that is usually a glaring sign that the citizenry is revolting, whether outwardly or secretly. This is some of the latest from the story at Reuters:
Now, look at this from the article:
The key thing is that the crimes in Iran punishable by death are related to islamic law such as murder, adultery, stealing...but in order for the government to preserve its perverse position of control, they have instituted secular violations punishable by death such as this "disrupting public security."
I do want to point out that in world history, the end result of this kind of morality or control policing has never worked - the protests are only a symptom of the discontent and at some time, it rages out of control. Now, whether a revolution in Iran can happen before the evil ones have their grubby hands around their own nukes is the million dollar question.
Iran plans to execute 30 people in the capital Tehran on Sunday for murder, drug smuggling and other crimes, newspapers reported on Saturday.
Police have arrested dozens of people in recent weeks in a new crackdown on "immoral behavior" in the Islamic Republic, whose human rights record is often criticized in the West.
Now, look at this from the article:
Etemad-e Melli daily said 20 of those to be executed on Sunday were drug traffickers and 10 were murderers. It said many of them had committed more than one crime.See the inconsistency there? it says that 10 were murderers but then the prosecutor's office list crimes such as disrupting public security, illegal relationships and stealing. So, in my view, what this means is that the VAST majority of these 30 are being hanged for DISRUPTING PUBLIC SECURITY. And what that means is that Iran is engaging in a culling of the discontent - this is am example execution for those who wish to publicly exclaim their protest with the Iranian government and military.
"Thirty people convicted of crimes such as murder, drug smuggling, disrupting public security, illegal relationships and stealing will be executed at dawn on Sunday," the daily quoted Tehran's prosecutor office as saying.

Iran to hang 30 for murder, other crimes: report
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran plans to execute 30 people in the capital Tehran on Sunday for murder, drug smuggling and other crimes, newspapers reported on Saturday.
Police have arrested dozens of people in recent weeks in a new crackdown on "immoral behavior" in the Islamic Republic, whose human rights record is often criticized in the West.

Iran usually carries out executions in prison, by hanging.
At least 10 people were hanged in the country in July. In September last year, 21 people were executed in one day, in two different locations.
Murder, adultery, rape, armed robbery, apostasy and drug trafficking are all punishable by death under Iran's Sharia law, enforced since Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution.
Amnesty International in April listed Iran as the world's second most prolific executioner last year, with at least 317 people put to death, trailing only China which carried out 470 death sentences.
Iran rejects accusations it is violating human rights and accuses the West of double standards and hypocrisy.

it's about time that we wake up. There is no due process over there, no ACLUou ...
and you guys are suprised?
You need to take a trip overseas.
Under the name of "disturbing public safety and security", for sure are some Christians among these 30!!!!
Is they way they found to kill people that enter that country to speak about Jesus Christ!!! WAKE UP - IS EXACTLY THIS WHAT IS HAPPENING!!!!!
Let them hang their own people. As long as they don't start pushing their religious nonsense onto the rest of the world. I can't believe in this day and age that religion is still around. Its so tribal.
anonymous, ...as for there being no ACLU over there, well, I'd be glad to ship ours over to them and not replace 'em here. : )

My response is that this has NOTHING to do with religion - islam is a violent political ideology, NOT a religion. My reference to their "secular" offenses is further proof of that in that they have gone outside the bounds of their so-called "religious" law.
The tribal nature of this has to do with the 7th century flavor of oppression and violence driven by a madman's view of the world.
