Anonymous Arab Country Tells Israel It's Aokay To Bomb The Shit Out of Iran

Whoa nellie ! Now that's a title for a posting that I didn't think I'd ever be putting up. But it's a fact if you believe an article out of Haaretz, here. Here's how it is being reported:

Official representatives of an Arab country have hinted in meetings with Israeli officials that they would not oppose an Israeli military operation against Iran, sources in Jerusalem said this week. According to the sources, the representatives of the Arab country said they are worried by Iran's growing influence in the region, primarily among Shi'ite communities in Arab states.

I'm thinking I should start a lottery here for guessing which Arab country that was. Feel free to put in comments your best guess, folks (I have my own idea but I'll save it for later). Now, it isn't really a surprise that Arab Sunni countries have been up late at night over the power that Iran has been accumulating and the influence they have on Hezbollah, Syria and Hamas but for an Arab country to give Israel the green light to possibly kill muslims in the process of a bombing? Holy crap.

At the same time, Israeli Defense Minister Barak is sounding more and more like he's beating a war drum. Look at this quote from the same article:

"Israel is the strongest country in the region and has proved in the past that it is not deterred from activity when there is concern that its vital interests could be harmed."

I haven't ventured a guess on an Israeli attack as of yet but I will now. I think Israel WILL attack Iran and I think it will happen before the end of July. There is flat out, too much buzz going on and the Israeli excercises over Greece sealed it for me. The Israelis do not play the propaganda or threat game. They never have. I think there are some serious negotiations going on between not only the U.S. and Israel right now about how this will go down but I think others are being included like Great Britain and France. It's my guess that during the Israeli air assault on Iran, there will be U.S. and British Naval support and that whatever ground operations are necessary, there will be U.S. involvement. Obviously, this is blue skying on my part and I've been about 50% on my predictions as of late but I think what has happened lately is the Israelis have determined that the Iranian nukes are more vulnerable than previously thought.

And the recent shows of "strength" by the Iranians is proof that they know this all is coming and don't doubt for a minute that the mullahs and the Ayatollah and Ahmdadinejad are all shitting their pants green right now.

Arab state tells Israel it would not oppose Iran strike

Official representatives of an Arab country have hinted in meetings with Israeli officials that they would not oppose an Israeli military operation against Iran, sources in Jerusalem said this week. According to the sources, the representatives of the Arab country said they are worried by Iran's growing influence in the region, primarily among Shi'ite communities in Arab states. Defense Minister Ehud Barak hinted Thursday that Israel would be willing to attack Iran when he said that "Israel is the strongest country in the region and has proved in the past that it is not deterred from activity when there is concern that its vital interests could be harmed."

The representatives told the Israeli officials that other Arab countries are also troubled by Iran's policy. Some Arab states are afraid that Iran's growing power will create a rift between Sunnis and Shi'ites. That concern is especially rife in Arab countries with a Shi'ite minority. Political sources in Israel told Haaretz that Iran's increasingly belligerent statements have worried the Gulf states, which want American protection against Tehran. "If this is how Iran threatens when it doesn't have nuclear weapons, what will it do when its nuclear program ripens?" one Israeli source said.

Addressing the Iranian issue during a Labor Party meeting in Tel Aviv on Thursday, Barak said that "at the moment the focus is on international sanctions and intensive diplomatic activity, and these channels have to be exhausted."

If I had to guess, I would say that the Saudi princes are the ones that are secretly OKing this.

I agree that it is probably the Saudis, but have doubts on the end o July thing. This year for certain perhaps after the election but befor the new guy (God please let it be Mccain) takes the chair.

We may not be directly involved in this more than a wink and a nod (unfortunatly), unless the Iranians do something stupid (like there is any doubt about that) in the Straights of Hormuz. In that case the new Iranian navy would need glass bottomed boats to see the old Iranian navy. But it would be hairy there for a while, as the Iranians do have some chinese silkworm anti-ship missiles, as well as some of the newer russian sunburn anti-ship missiles.
