Well, the new Pakistani government just had its first lesson in "Real World 101." I told you all back when I posted what the new government was offering it's deal up to the South Waziristan tribal leader of the Taliban, Baitullah Mehsud, that this was a sham and that the Taliban would NEVER abide with any peace agreement unless they took over complete control and that's about what has happened. Here's the scoop on what happened from the Washington Times piece here:
See what I mean? I mean, first of all, this is the guy that directed the assassination of Bhutto! Are you freaking kidding me? That would have been like the American government sitting down to negotiate a sentence and restitution plan with Lee Harvey Oswald before he got offed. It would have been like dragging Hitler out of his burned out bunker in Berlin and offering him half of Europe for his trouble. The new Paki government is simply insane. By the way, the photo included here in this post is about as full coverage as Mehsud will allow - this guy is about as camera shy as Mullah Omar - do you really suppose he thinks American Special Forces don't know what he looks like? (mwahahaha)
Mehsud wants one thing and one thing only. He wants to own, to run South Waziristan and probably an even bigger chunk than that. He wants his own country for pete's sakes and this new government is idiotic enough to sit down with this flea bag rather than blow his fat ass out of the water.
If the new Pakistani government doesn't want to risk anymore large abductions of their troops in battling Mehsud's fighters in South Waziristan, then just say the word, guys. I'm sure the Americans and NATO would be only too eager to oblige you with a helping hand and drop about 100,000 pounds of bombs on this clown and his people. Just say the word.
Baitullah Mehsud, a leader in the South Waziristan tribal zone, discontinued talks because the new Pakistani government refused to withdraw its troops from territory that was under his control before a midwinter military offensive, a purported spokesman said.
"The government was not serious in its talks and did not meet the ... demand for the withdrawal of army troops" from the Mehsud areas of South Waziristan, said Maulvi Omar, who claims to be Mr. Mehsud's official spokesman.

Militant calls off talks as Pakistan troops stay
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistan's peace talks with the militant leader who is thought to have planned the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto have reportedly collapsed, just weeks after the new government said it was close to a deal.
Mr. Omar said the talks could resume if government troops start to withdraw.
Mr. Mehsud leads Pakistan's Taliban movement and is close to al Qaeda and fugitive Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar.
Pakistan's government accuses Mr. Mehsud of orchestrating the December suicide attack that killed Mrs. Bhutto, a charge he denies.
A document released in Islamabad last month, purported to be a draft agreement between elders in the Mehsud tribe and the government, said a phased troop withdrawal from Mehsud territories would begin if there were no further attacks on the military and civilian officials and installations.
The agreement also sought to ensure that militants make no further attempts to establish a mini-state in Mehsud areas or to collect taxes from the local people. The government wanted total acceptance of its writ in the Mehsud territories.
