One Out of Three Italians Oppose Any New Mosques

Took awhile for the Italians to come to the decision that opening their borders to tons of islamists and letting them build mosques faster than pasta shoppes wasn't a good idea, but apparently now the Italian people are gaining clear heads. Let's look at a piece from the article here at Adnkronos:

One out of three Italians oppose the construction of new mosques, says a new survey commissioned by the government. The national survey was conducted in February by Italian consultants, Makno Consulting, for the interior ministry. The survey found that 31 percent of Italians are against the construction of new mosques because they are afraid of intolerance of Catholicism and possible terrorist attacks by Islamists.
But what I found as the most striking bit of polling results to come out of this was reported in the article this way:

But non-Muslim immigrants showed even less tolerance than their Italian counterparts and 50 percent of them rejected the idea of opening new mosques.

That is striking to me - that means that one out of every two people that have emigrated to Italy and are not muslim, want ZERO new mosques built in the country. Let me try and guess the reason: Because the non-muslim immigrants came to Italy to start a new life, they came to join Italians in their country, they came to make their lives better. And they have come to witness the muslim immigrants coming to Italy to make their lives tantamount to anyone else's, to force their beliefs and culture upon the new land, and disenchant the general population that does not fall face first on a prayer mat.

I do get a kick out of these "should there be new mosques?" polls. Why don't these guys just grow a pair and ask the real question: Do you want a halt to anymore muslims being allowed into this country? That's the real question and the real answer is going to be a resounding "Yes!"

Hate to say it Italy, but you've got about one year to try and turn it around - you have over a million muslims in your country and that will double in a year if you aren't careful.

Italy: One out of three oppose new mosques, says survey

A proposal to build a new mosque in the central northern city of Bologna was dropped this week after local Muslim groups failed to agree on conditions requested by the city council.According to the survey, 34 percent of Muslim immigrants said they did not feel accepted by Italians. But the survey also included figures showing that 55 percent of Italians think that immigration from Islamic countries is the biggest problem.

The survey also included data from the Italy's central statistics agency that shows the country has one of the lowest rates of immigration in the European Union, at 5 percent, compared to Switzerland which has 20 percent followed by Austria with 9.4 percent. The majority of immigrants in Italy are concentrated in the centre and northern parts of the country.People who took part in the survey said that Italians should take precedence over immigrants - legal or illegal - for social services, schools, nurseries, hospitals and emergency care. They also said Italians want a greater police presence, a limit on the number of immigrants per classroom in schools, and more frequent checks of mosques, licences and businesses.

Undersecretary for immigration Marcella Lucidi said the immigrants were to blame for their situation."The rising hostility of Italians towards immigrants is due to the confinement of immigrants in ethnic enclaves, in the unjustified access they have to social services, as well as urban and social degradation which are symptoms of uncivilised behaviour," she said in a media conference in Rome on Tuesday.
