Taliban Demand Release Of 12 Jihadists In Exchange For Pakistani Ambassador

The Taliban have finally come up with an exchange offer for the Pakistani Ambassador to Afghanistan, Tariq Azizuddin, who has been missing and was eventually seen on a video that showed him asking for Pakistan's help in his release from the Taliban. The Taliban are asking for the following to be released in exchange for Azizuddin, per the report here from the Daily Times:

According to the BBC, the kidnappers have demanded the release of Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz, Tehreek-e-Nifaaz-e-Shariat Muhammadi (TSNM) chief Maulana Sufi, five Afghan Taliban and the three men arrested on charges of allegedly plotting Benazir Bhutto’s assassination — Aitzaz Shah, Hussnain and Rafaqat.
As usual, these represent the bad of the bad that the Taliban want released and of course, I am hoping that Pakistan refuses to buckle to this. Now, if Musharraf was still in power, I wouldn't be that worried as he always took a stronger stance on kidnappings but the new government will probably cave. The fact that they would release the killers of Bhutto would be telling however. And finally, I hope this tells the new government of Pakistan about the Taliban that they have wanted to sit down and negotiate with. Let's face it - just a couple of weeks ago the new Pakistani government made the ridiculous announcement that they saw negotiations and a truce with the Taliban as the solution to peace in Pakistan, and here ....only two weeks since then, they see their ambassador to Afghanistan captured and kidnapped with the demand of release of the world's worst terror leaders.

How's that new policy of making nice nice with the Taliban working for you so far, Pakistan?
