Al Qaeda in Iraq Leader Captured in Mosul

More great news from Mosul operations that haven't received any press in the MSM. An al Qaeda in Iraq leader was captured in Mosul yesterday and while that is great news, I want you to take a look at the excerpt here from the article from the brief Multi-National Force:

Coalition forces detained an alleged al-Qaeda in Iraq leader and one of his suspected associates during two operations Sunday in Mosul.
Information gained from a mission Apr. 3 led Coalition forces to the target areas, where they captured two wanted men during precision operations. One of the men is believed to be an AQI leader in the city and allegedly oversees attack operations, while the other is an alleged associate.
“We’re keeping pressure on al-Qaeda in Iraq’s leaders,” said Cmdr. Scott Rye, MNF-I spokesman. “These terrorists seek to derail the people’s efforts toward a secure and peaceful Iraq.”

What I have highlighted there is HOW they got the intel on this al Qaeda leader, which is significant. What we are seeing in Mosul now is that information is coming to U.S. and Iraqi forces from all of the previous operations that have led to the capture of al Qaeda and these sacks are singing like canaries. Couple that intel gained from interrogations with the fact that the Iraqi citizens of Mosul are coming forward with more and more tips on al Qaeda operations, and you have a recipe of success.

Unlike Iraq's Maliki, who mistakenly made his big announcement of an upcoming victory in Mosul, the U.S. military leadership has been smart about not making any predictions and subtly going through the paces to clean that hell hole out. It's my feeling that once Mosul has been cleaned up and stabilized, the U.S. and Iraqi forces can once again go back into Diyala province for what I term, The Final Battle of Al Qaeda in Iraq. Once Mosul has been gutted, it's my guess that over 50% of al Qaeda in Iraq will be centralized in Diyala and it could literally be a shooting gallery for U.S. troops. Let's hope so.

Great news! Too bad it never makes it into the nightly MSM...

I have sooo many friends that just don't get it. They are smart, but can't see the progress we are making or the danger we face from islamists.

Great site by the way. Thanks for helping spread the news!
