Iran's Ayatollah Ali Khamenei today said that future relations with the United States are possible. Okay, wait folks. That's the line the MSM will report and some appeasing Democrat Presidential candidates will jump all over like a fallen pinata at a boy scout meeting.
Let's look closely at the quotes from his grand ayatollahness:
I italicized "useful for the nation" - in other words, a relationship with the U.S. would only make sense if it is to the advantage of Iran. Nothing new here...it's the Iranian way - all for us, none for you. This is why you NEVER negotiate with the Iranians.
Finally, this head scratcher.
This is like telling a country with huge oil reserves who doesn't need an alternative energy source like nuclear power that it better refrain from developing nuclear weapons with the intention of destroying Israel and starting World War III.
Sound better? Anyway, this guy is a fool, an idiot, a moron and most of all, a liar. It will be interesting to see which one of the Democrat candidates hops on top of this live grenade first. Anyone want to start the bidding?
Here's the full story.
Let's look closely at the quotes from his grand ayatollahness:
“Not having relations with America is one of our main policies but we have never said this relationship should be cut forever,”
Okay, that's the 'old never say' never bit. That's like the United States saying
that our main policy is trying to pressure Iran into non-nuclear status but we
have never said we won't bomb the ever living shit out of them. Never say never.
Now, another quote.
“Establishing this relationship now (would be) harmful for us and naturally we shouldn’t follow it,” he said. “Certainly, the day when having relations with America is useful for the nation I will be the first one to approve this relationship.”

Khamenei also rejected the suggestion by Washington and Moscow that Iran should stop nuclear uranium enrichment after Russia last month began delivering fuel to the country’s first nuclear power plant in Bushehr. Now I ask you, readers. Does that make sense? Is this guy an idiot? That is probably the worst analogy I've read in my entire life. A fifth grader could come up with a more meaningful analogy. Listen Ali bubba...let me correct your analogy so it better reveals your true intentions:
“This is like telling a country with huge oil reserves that it should provide for its oil needs from abroad,” he said.

US ties may be possible one day: Iran leader
(Reuters)
3 January 2008
TEHERAN - Iran’s supreme leader made clear on Thursday the time had not yet arrived to restore relations with the United States, the Islamic state’s arch foe, but suggested it may happen one day.
“Not having relations with America is one of our main policies but we have never said this relationship should be cut forever,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in the central city of Yazd, state television reported.
“Establishing this relationship now (would be) harmful for us and naturally we shouldn’t follow it,” he said. “Certainly, the day when having relations with America is useful for the nation I will be the first one to approve this relationship.”
The United States cut ties with Tehran shortly after Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution. The two countries are now sharply at odds over Tehran’s disputed atomic ambitions and also disagree over who is to blame for the violence in Iraq.
Khamenei also rejected the suggestion by Washington and Moscow that Iran should stop nuclear uranium enrichment after Russia last month began delivering fuel to the country’s first nuclear power plant in Bushehr.
“This is like telling a country with huge oil reserves that it should provide for its oil needs from abroad,” he said
