Afghan Clerics Warn Karzai To Stop Missionaries

Religion of Peace, remember? Oh and tolerance, right? Afghanistan's Islamic Council warned Afghan President Hamid Karzai that he better stop allowing any missionaries into Afghanistan. Got to know that you couldn't allow a peaceful bunch of people in to talk about G_d and Love and Peace - they might just interrupt or distract your murderous Taliban.
Oh, the clerics also warned about curbing some television programming that is going on to that is objectionable. Why don't these fools just order everyone into a cave. I'm sure they'd let them out five times a day for prayers but then back to the dark hole. Or is it back to the Dark Ages?

Full story is here.

Muslim Clerics Warn Afghanistan's President Against Missionaries
By VOA News
05 January 2008

Islamic clerics in Afghanistan are warning the country's president to stop foreign aid groups from doing missionary work in the country.
Members of the Afghanistan Islamic Council say they are concerned about the activities of some international non-governmental groups that are trying to convert Afghan Muslims to Christianity. The group made the statement after meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Friday.
The clerics warned of what they called "catastrophe" if the activities were not prevented.
Taliban militants took some 23 South Korean Christian missionaries hostage in July 2007, killing two and releasing the remainder.
Afghanistan's Islamic Council also urged President Karzai to crack down on certain television programming that it says is spreading immorality and non-Islamic culture in the country.
