Well, I guess will see IF the Pakistani government's military can eliminate the Taliban as they professed today and at the same time, one has to wonder how long of a timeframe they've given themselves to do just that. But at least the government of Pakistan is talking tough - they haven't done anything resembling "tough" since they took power in the country..but, the question is, are they REALLY going to ACT tough?. Here's excerpts from the article from Yahoo News that describes the statements by the Pakistani government today:
See that? They say they'll eliminate the militants (Taliban) but do NOT mention any real plans of a sweeping operation to do just that. And the reason for that is because the government is looking for another peace agreement - I know, I know...it's hard to believe the government of Pakistan would be that stupid once again but it is their nature. They will NOT crush the Taliban...they simply want to inflict some losses, set the stage for what appears to be a Taliban surrender and then a subsequent peace agreement ensues. What the American press will not tell you is this: there is Taliban influence and empathy INSIDE the Pakistani government and that is why you see this approach. And no, I don't have 42 documents and photos to prove that but it is my educated guess. It's a bit like looking at the Obama administration. A lot of people think there are avowed socialists in the Obama administration but does anyone have proof? Well, there are many signs of the socialistic influence on this administration but proof is....a bit thin at the moment. Well, with the Pakistani government, there is plenty of signs of the collusion inside the government with the Taliban and their cause and sooner or later it will all come out.

Pakistan says army will eliminate "terrorists"
MINGORA, Pakistan (Reuters) – Pakistan's government ordered the army to eliminate militants on Thursday, setting the stage for a major offensive against Taliban fighters battling security forces in a northwestern valley.
The government's handling of the Swat valley has become a test of its resolve to fight a growing Taliban insurgency that has alarmed the United States.
President Asif Ali Zardari, in Washington for talks, assured U.S. President Barack Obama on Wednesday of Islamabad's commitment to defeating al Qaeda and its allies.
Security forces used jets and helicopters to pound Taliban positions in Swat, 130 km (80 miles) from Islamabad, as thousands of civilians took advantage of a break in a curfew to flee.
With hundreds of thousand of people already displaced by fighting, aid groups said the new exodus of tens of thousands was intensifying a humanitarian crisis.
Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani said in a televised address the militants were trying to hold the country hostage at gunpoint.
"Decisive steps have to be taken," Gilani said.
"In order to restore honor and dignity of our homeland and to protect the people, the armed forces have been called in to eliminate the militants and terrorists."

Reinforcements have been arriving in Swat as a peace pact collapsed. On Wednesday, soldiers launched assaults in the outskirts of the region's main town of Mingora, where the Taliban have occupied important buildings.
Authorities agreed in February to a Taliban demand for the introduction of Islamic sharia law in the former tourist valley but the militants refused to disarm, and pushed out of Swat closer to nuclear-armed Pakistan's capital.
That raised alarm in the United States. Pakistani action against militants in its northwest is vital for U.S. efforts to defeat al Qaeda and stabilize Afghanistan.
