Hi, Holger. As I said in Belly's chatroom, I had no power for most of the weekend. As a result, I missed several shows.
I visited the Alamo in February 1991, during which time Desert Shield gave way to Desert Storm. In front of the Alamo was a gigantic yellow ribbon, tied around several trees.
At the 9/12/09 rally, it was kind of fun having no one on the other side show up. No barriers on the sides of the streets (as there had been at Gathering of Eagles two years earlier). I ran across a group of fellow Hokies. We even had a Wahoo (UVA alum) with us.
I, too, had an uncle who fought in World War II. So when leftnuts leave their water bottles and fast food garbage at that memorial, my thought is, "Stop trashing my uncle's memorial."
