Taliban Attack U.S. Base In Kandahar, All Seven Taliban Killed

Another brazen Taliban attack on a U.S./Coalition military base in Kandahar went down this morning when seven Taliban jihadis attacked the outer perimeter of the base.  Luckily, no U.S. or NATO forces are reported killed or wounded...the Taliban attackers didn't fare so well as all seven were killed by perimeter guards of the base.

The story comes from DAWN.

At least seven Afghan militants killed in base attack

KABUL: Nato says seven attackers have stormed a base of the US-led coalition in Kandahar province of southern Afghanistan.

The coalition says the attackers breached the outer security of the base on Tuesday in Shah Wali Kot district, but were then killed by guards at the compound.

Provincial spokesman Javid Faisal says initial reporting indicates that at least one foreign worker was killed and two other foreigners were wounded, but this could not be independently confirmed.

Earlier, Afghan officials said three Afghan policemen were killed when their checkpoint was attacked Tuesday in Kandahar city.

And US and Afghan officials say three individuals dressed in Afghan police uniforms turned their guns on coalition troops Monday in Zhari district of Kandahar province, killing one Nato service member and wounding several others.

13 of our boys were injured in a Barracks attack Tuesday night in Kandahar. Some of them seriously. My step grandson was one of them. Why wasn't this reported.

Nunica Joe,

First off, I'm sorry to hear of your step grandson and will keep him in my prayers. I also appreciate his service to our country.

And I want to thank you for bringing this to my attention - a couple of things...first off, many times I am putting up stories that are fairly new and breaking and we just don't have all of the details. Now, in this case, it appears there were TWO attacks on Kandahar bases on the same night and I believe I reported on the first, not the second one. I found both covered here.

Again, i'm sorry there was no mention of the wounded American troops - it wasn't intentional by any means.
