Not a memorial by any sense of the imagination. This was nothing more than a political rally.

This was supposed to be a memorial service not a church service. I don't know which of you have attended memorial services but they are not necessarily all mournful and religious. Go to an African American funeral and it becomes a celebration of the life of the deceased. Well..the people who had relatives die, they seemed to like it, it appeared to have not only have helped them feel better, and so what about a T-shirt, I have actually been to a funeral where they handed out the programs, like it was a concert, where people made a joyful noise unto the lord, go to a funeral in New Orleans where they have a party! Yes, I have scene T-Shirts at wakes even. Not everyone does the the way you would want it done. Personally, I thought the cheering was jarring, but that speaks to the fact that we have no civility, manners, culture or FILTERS in this society anymore doesn't it? We say what we want, as rudely and miserably as we want to whoever we want, with no filters because we have ceased to have any manners, class or dignity. So why is it that anyone would be surprised that a bunch of kids would have no manners, class or dignity when our culture has so debased these things as not valued? Think about it and before you yell at me...PAUSE. You can disagree without being demeaning, without attacking someone's patriotism, character, motives and and ethics. PAUSE.

The T-shirts and programs, garish and offensive as they were, were the Unversity's idea and thankfully NOT that of either political party. It's a good front to attack the president on though, if that's your obsession.

The T-shirts and glitzy programs, offensive as they are, were the University's idea and NOT, happy to say, that of either political party. Also, the fact that the service was held in a basketball arena didn't help with the missing 'somberness'. However, somber-or-not the Prez stepped up to the plate under pressure and proceeded to hit it out of the park!

In fact, you're almost right, but not quite. Perhaps because you see it in yourself and project or cast your feelings upon the majority. Yes there happens to be some 35% that still admire the guy in office and what he stands for. We are a plurlistic society. But thank G-d the G-d-fearing ones prevail in numbers. Yes, liberals and leftists have no filters that derive from decency. They do have filters, however, only these serve their perverted agendas, like killing babies in the womb, like fraudulent reporting as when the event suits their own purposes otherwise it's hushed up, as when they gather en masse, with their counterparts to participate in a public event and try to stack the event with their own people as if to reflect a "random" sample of people - as happened at this memorial, no doubt. Don't try to rationalize indecency, by saying this event alone may not have met your standards but most others of the left, do. This one was a sickening demonstration of indecent behavior - and, because no filter of decency exists among them, everything else leftists do shares the same indecency.

Half the solution to curing an illness is recognizing that the sickness exists. Liberals do not know they're sick, and therefore the chances they'll be cured of it remain remote.

I have been to funerals and memorials where I laughed hysterically due to the remembrances of our departed loved one. But this was not one of those occasions. It was nothing less than a political rally, disguised as a memorial. The nation should be ashamed at the behavior of the crowd. They acted like it was a rock concert not in any way a memorial.

conoclast you are so busted. The university student union tried to cover for Mr. Obama's crass self-promo re: the god-awful tee shirts but guess what, the whole idea came from Mr. Obama's "Organizing for America" Here is the link from a 2008 OFA blog-entry: http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/johnberry_iv/C94H

Crass Democrat over-reach in their blood-lust for power.
