If there was any question that Hamas and the other islamic terror groups in Gaza didn't want peace negotiations to move forward between the Israelis and the Palestinians, it was dispelled this morning as upwards of 10 separate rocket and mortar attacks hit southern Israel from firings inside of Gaza. The Israelis immediately responded with bombing runs by the IAF.
From the story at Israel National News:
This article doesn't mention any Israeli casualties in the attacks so we'll have to wait until later to see if anything develops on this but this obviously was a coordinated and massive attack. At the same time, I gotta believe that the initial IAF response won't be the end of it - I would guess that some more strikes will come from Israel after a few more intel reports are scoured.
Now, I've said it many times that the likes of Hamas aren't the brightest bulbs on the tree and in this latest attack, they may be making the same mistake that Hezbollah made back in 2006. That being that they think Israel will totally restrain itself due to the peace talks - the fact is that Israel might just do what Hamas doesn't expect and that is pound Gaza big time.
In fact, I would give my readers a little head's up - I would not be surprised if, in the next couple of days, you are reading a report that one or maybe two Hamas leaders have been taken out by Israeli strikes in Gaza. Now, I'm guessing that most Hamas leaders are underground right now but when they venture out, I would not be surprised to see them taken out. One can only hope for that.
From the story at Israel National News:
Israeli Air Force bombed targets in Gaza Wednesday, killing at least one terrorist after a massive missile and mortar barrage on southern Israel Wednesday morning.
At least 10 explosions rocked the south from the western Negev to an area between the port cities of Ashkelon and Ashdod. A major electricity generating station and oil and gas pipelines are located in Ashkelon. Ashdod is home to dozens of oil refineries.
Arab sources said one terrorist was killed in the reprisal attack at Rafiah, a city the straddles the border between Gaza and Egypt and which is a prime source of smuggling tunnels. The IDF aerial attack came hours before Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at his official residence in Jerusalem.
Neither Abbas nor American officials have commented on the terrorist attacks from Gaza, a region that is in name part of the Palestinian Authority but which has set up a separate government in Gaza since Hamas ousted Abbas’ Fatah party government in a militia war more than three years ago.

IAF Attacks Gaza Terrorists after Israel Under Massive Attack

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell have been holding private discussions with both sides since the morning hours, preparing for the talks between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Abbas.
The same officials talked in Sharm el Sheikh Tuesday as the United States carries out its strategy of creating “momentum” that it hopes will convince Israel and the PA to compromise on procedural issues and discuss the "core" issues which are the status of Jerusalem and future borders of a proposed PA state.
However, the same momentum could fall apart in the face of the PA demand that Israel extend the 10-month building freeze on Jewish homes in Judea and Samaria. The PA reportedly has so far rejected American proposals for a compromise and has rejected Prime MInister Netanyahu's demand to recognize that Israel is a Jewish state..

What is it that politicians do not get about "attacking Israel?" Oh, yes I forgot, Israel is "occupying." Israel needs better public relations, which should be pointing out the exact borders beginning with statehood up to the present.
It's odd that they NEVER validate their own borders and why they expanded - but are still woefully under the amount of land designated for them.
Hamas doesn't want peace. If peace was ever achieved there, they'd all have to find jobs at the nearest Mc Donalds. Or they'd start killing each other.
These attacks on Israel are mostly about money generation. What happened after the flotilla smear campaign? USA sends them money. What happened after each intifada? Money comes in from all over the world. Violence pays very well for them.
I've been reading a great book lately called "Son of Hamas" It really details their goals quite clearly.
Money and power are priority #1
Religion and land take a back seat.
This response is no response in effect.
They must invade the territory and take it back.
That's the only right thing to do.
Don't forget that before the Jews were uprooted
from that land, the enemy was doing the very
same thing - bombing day in day out.
The liberals then claimed, as they continue to
voice their sterility, that once we give them this
land they want so badly, the bombing will stop.
Don't let that hot rocket fire from the jet's exhaust
make you think the enemy is now going to get their. They could care less if some of their troops get killed. In fact it suits them. This way they can theatrically cry and then continue their attempts at killing Jews.
They must be invaded and the territory must be retaken. All this peace-talk nonsense simply plays into their lap. How many more good people must die before this becomes clear???
Israel is bombed by Gaza regulary-it not something new or shoking.i am sure , the fact that Israel responded this time will be accepted very bad by public opinion and we will get houndreds of news sourses talking about Israeli agression.
