Iranian President Ahmadinejad Barely Escapes Assassination Attempt In Iranian City of Hamadan

Close but no cigar. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's convoy moving through the city of Hamadan was attacked by a single assassin who apparently threw a grenade that missed Ahmadinejad and ended up wounding several others.

From the story at Israel National News:

Arab sources reported Wednesday that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad escaped an assassination attempt in the city Hamadan and that several people were wounded. The Iranian conservative Khabaronline.ir website said that the attacker was arrested.

Arabiya said that Ahmadinejad’s procession was targeted by a bomb. Other sources said only that “an object," possibly a grenade, was thrown at the convoy. After the reported attempt, Ahmadinejad continued with his schedule and addressed a crowd.

I'm guessing that if this had been a roadside bomb, old Ahmadinejad wouldn't have continued with his speech so I'm leaning towards the grenade theory. But the message is pretty clear...when is the last time you heard of an attempted assassination of an Iranian leader? I guess that unrest in Iran isn't quite over yet, huh?

While Ahmadinejad walked away from this, I'd like to take this chance to remind the Iranian people of a famous saying: "If at first you don't succeed, PLEASE try, try again"

Ahmadinejad Escapes Assassination Attempt; Suspect Arrested

Arab sources reported Wednesday that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad escaped an assassination attempt in the city Hamadan and that several people were wounded. The Iranian conservative Khabaronline.ir website said that the attacker was arrested.

The Arabic-language Arabiya website, which is considered responsible and has published several articles against Ahmadinejad, reported that the “Iranian presidency confirms that President Ahmadinejad escaped an assassination attempt as his procession was targeted by a bomb.” Iran has not commented.

Arabiya said that Ahmadinejad’s procession was targeted by a bomb. Other sources said only that “an object," possibly a grenade, was thrown at the convoy. After the reported attempt, Ahmadinejad continued with his schedule and addressed a crowd.

Iran’s semi-official media reported in mid-July that Israel, in collaboration with Iranian terror groups. “The Zionist regime had met with the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) to execute the plan,” according to the Fars News Agency.

I feel that what started last summer peacefully will end with extreme violence.

Maybe next time. Lots of TNT, numerous IED's.
A violent uprising is on the horizon.
It will be a bloodbath.
