Let's Compare Today's Democrat Congress To The Socialist Party of 1928

You can find the document I'm using for this comparison here ...as I wanted to take a look at just how the current actions of our Democrat-controlled Congress and our Democrat President compare to the agenda of the Socialist Party (in America) back in 1928. The document I'm using is the actual publication of the Socialist Party from that year...1928.

I think it's best to just look at what those Socialists back in 1928 had planned for America and I'll leave it up to you to decide how that compares to what Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Schumer and the rest of them are doing today.....

I.—THE SOCIALIST PLATFORM


International Relations
WE are unalterably opposed to imperialism andmilitarism, therefore we propose:
1. Immediate withdrawal of American forcesfrom Nicaragua and abandonment of the policy ofmilitary intervention in Central America and othercountries.
6. Aggressive activity against militarism, againstthe large Navy and Army program of our presentadministration, and in behalf of International Dis-armament.
7. Treaties outlawing war and the substitution ofpeaceful methods for the settlement of internationaldisputes.

Public Ownership and Conservation
TO recover the rightful heritage of the people,, we propose:
1. Nationalization of our natural resources, be-ginning with the coal mines and water sites, particu-larly at Boulder Dam and Muscle Shoals.
2. 'A publicly owned giant power system underwhi'ch the Federal Government shall cooperate withthe States and municipalities in the distribution ofelectrical energy to the people at cost. Only whenpublic agencies have full control over the genera-tion, transmission, and distribution of electricalpower can the consumers be guaranteed against ex-ploitation by the great electrical interests of thecountry. Public ownership of these and other in-dustries must include employee representation inthe management, and the principle of collectivebargaining must be recognized.
3. National ownership and democratic manage-ment of railroads and other means of transportationand communication.
4. An adequate national program for flood controland flood relief, reforestation, irrigation, and re-clamation.

Unemployment Relief
TO relieve the tragic misery of millions of un-employed workers and their families we pro-pose:
1. The immediate governmental relief of the un-employed by extension of all public works and aprogram of long-range planning of public works fol-following the present depression. All persons thusemployed to be engaged at hours and wages fixedby bona-fide labor unions.
2. Loans to States and municipalities for the pur-pose of carrying on public works and the taking ofsuch other measures as will lessen widespreadmisery.
3. A system of unemployment insurance.
4. The nation-wide extension of public employ-ment agencies in cooperation with city federationsof labor.

Taxation
FOR the proper support of Government and asa step toward social justice we propose:
1. Increase of taxation on high income levels,of corporation taxes and inheritance taxes, the pro-ceeds to be used for old-age pensions and otherforms of social insurance.

Civil Liberties
TO secure to the people the civil rights withoutwhich democracy is impossible we demand:
2. Abolition of injunctions in labor disputes.
4. Legislation protecting foreign-born workersfrom deportation and from refusal of citizenshipon account of political opinions.
5. Modification of immigration laws to permit thereuniting of families and to offer a refuge for thosefleeing from political or religious persecution.

Credit and Banking
FOR our emancipation from the money trust, wepropose:
Nationalization of the banking and currency sys-tem, beginning with extension of the service of thepostal-savings banks to cover every department ofthe banking business.
