Write this down. November 27, 2009. That is the day that President Barack Hussein Obama will announce his decision regarding the troop request for the War in Afghanistan.
Why do I feel that is the magic date? Well, silly people, it is the day of Eid al-Adha. It is the day of the most important Feast in Islam. First, let's look at what exactly Eid al-Adha celebrates for the muslims around the world, from About.com:
At the same time, we have seen Barack Hussein Obama, over the last three months take his jolly sweet time in coming to a decision on how many troops to send to Afghanistan - many of us have wondered just HOW this could possibly take so long. He has had more meetings with his security advisors and joint chiefs than you can count. It's almost like he's been waiting for something to come along for him to make his decision.
Well, there's the prediction from Holger - Barack Hussein Obama will finally announce to the world on November 27th, 2009 what his troop commitment will be in Afghanistan and he will describe the new strategy. All of this on the day that muslims around the world celebrate the sacrifice that the prophet Abraham was willing to make to Allah. If I'm right, I'll expect a few kudos from you folks (wink).
Perhaps on that fateful Friday, Barack Hussein Obama will even use the words of the Qur'an to reveal just why he waited so long:

At the end of the Hajj (annual pilgrimage to Mecca), Muslims throughout the world celebrate the holiday of Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice). In 2009, Eid al-Adha will begin on approximately November 27th, and will last for three days. So, we see that Eid al-Adha is the "Feast of Sacrifice." And we also know that ever since Barack Hussein Obama was seated as President, he has honored every single islamic holiday.
"Surely Abraham was an example, obedient to Allah, by nature upright, and he was not of the polytheists. He was grateful for Our bounties. We chose him and guided him unto a right path. We gave him good in this world, and in the next he will most surely be among the righteous." (Qur'an 16:120-121)
One of Abraham's main trials was to face the command of Allah to kill his only son. Upon hearing this command, he prepared to submit to Allah's will. When he was all prepared to do it, Allah revealed to him that his "sacrifice" had already been fulfilled. He had shown that his love for his Lord superceded all others, that he would lay down his own life or the lives of those dear to him in order to submit to God.
Allah has given us power over animals and allowed us to eat meat, but only if we pronounce His name at the solemn act of taking life. Muslims slaughter animals in the same way throughout the year. By saying the name of Allah at the time of slaughter, we are reminded that life is sacred.

How about the 26th, when most Americans will be ignoring the news media?
The friday after Thanksgiving is the perfect day for the government (under any modern administration)to dump bad news that they hope no one pays attention to. This has nothing to do with a Muslim holiday. I'll be too busy watching Bama beat Auburn with my Grandfather to pay any attention to national news. I can read about it in the Sunday paper.
