The Tale of Two Headlines

Okay, as some of you know, I have from time to time over the years pointed out how the MSM and the Left in America have purposely used the headlines of "news" articles to spew their propaganda against such things as the Iraq War, the War in Afghanistan and the War on Terror. Well, that practice continues as strong as ever with The Huffington Post the guilty party this time around. I want to show you two different headlines for the same coverage of the same event, but first, let me describe the event that happened.

Yesterday, there was a funeral held in Pakistan...more specifically, in the Taliban stronghold province of South Waziristan in the NW Provinces of Pakistan. This was a funeral being held for a Taliban commander in the employ of Baitullah Mehsud who was killed early in the day yesterday - so again, let me set the stage - the U.S. conducts an airstrike on Mehsud's Taliban jihadis early in the morning yesterday, killing six Taliban along with this one commander. So, later in the day, a shitpotfull of Taliban gather for the funeral of this despicable commander and lo and behold, another U.S. predator arrives to "pay its respects" and rains down hellfires on the funeral, killing in the range of 60-65 Taliban including Commander Sangeen, a Taliban commander from Afghanistan who travelled down for the funeral. All of the details of this can be found here at The Long War Journal. Pretty cool huh? In fact, a glorious day for the efforts of the U.S. military in the region.

But now, let's see how this is reported by two media outlets, let's look at the headlines for the same exact story:

Scores of Taliban killed in second US strike in South Waziristan
(from The Long War Journal)

Suspected U.S. Strike Kills At Least 60 People At Funeral In Pakistan
(from The Huffington Post)

Amazing, isn't it? You tell me - you would think those two headlines describe two completely different events, wouldn't you? Let's look at The Huffington Post on this - first, we have to consider the fact that The Huffington Post NEVER posts ANYTHING on the front page of their website that would be considered positive news about the U.S. military concerning operations in Iraq, Afghanistan or Pakistan. Secondly, most readers of HuffPo are accustomed to seeing "horrific news" on the front page over there of civilians killed by the beasts of America in errant bombings and such (usually from Afghanistan)...so, with that title that they are using, 95% of HuffPo readers will instantly think that the U.S. military has killed 60 CIVILIANS in an airstrike in Pakistan.

Look at that headline again - it uses the word "people" - it does not, more accurately, use the word "Taliban" or even "insurgents" or "militants." Plus, they use the word "funeral" predominantly trying to conjure the thoughts of a civilian ceremony that is sacred and of course, immune from any sort of action. And finally, they use the word "Pakistan" - that location, the ambiguity of it deflects all suspicions that it was a viable military target if they had used "South Waziristan" or "NW Pakistan."

So once again, we see the Left in America lie, cheat, distort and hide the facts in order to further their political agenda. The Huffington Post has tried desperately to enter the realm of the MSM recently - they have formatted their site to reflect more of a "News" center and many of you have noticed that The Huffington Post is present at President Obama's news conferences and in fact, was called on for a question yesterday at the Presidential press conference. Some of you I realize can't stomach going to The Huffington Post regularly, but I go there simply to keep my enemies close to my vest and I can attest to the fact that early on in the Presidential primaries for the Democrat party, HuffPo threw it's support behind Obama and snubbed Hillary - and now they are being rewarded by the Obama administration with their free pass to press conferences.

The Huffington Post is a shill for the administration. They, quite simply, are nothing more than a Far Left blog veiled in the disguise of some sort of whack job news outlet. Their headline of yesterday is an insult to all of the military men and women of America and that headline should either be amended or retracted. Yeah I know...I won't hold my breath.
