Vancouver's PACE To Offer Prostitutes Training On How To Handle Media During Olympics

Okay, I'm just gonna go ahead and post the story on this....with just one comment: "O Canada!"
Note: This story's title has been changed to reflect the "society" that is doing this training - thanks to commenter, Kerry, for bringing up the fact that this shouldn't be confused with any governmental agency.

Vancouver sex trade workers to be offered media training prior to Olympics

THE CANADIAN PRESS VANCOUVER, B.C. - Vancouver's sex trade workers will be offered media training prior to the 2010 Olympic Games.
Kerry Porth with the Prostitution Alternatives Counselling and Education Society (PACE) says it's important for sex trade workers to know their rights when dealing with cameras and reporters.
Porth says the training session will be held in November and will touch on issues like public photography and interview consent.

Porth says the society's goal is to make sure the sex trade workers feel safe in the neighbourhood in which they live.
She says media attention to the area, Vancouver's notorious Downtown Eastside, can be less than compassionate and the society doesn't want its members to feel like animals in a zoo.
The society held a similar training session leading up to the trial of convicted killer Robert Pickton.

Just wanted to clarify that the training is offered by the staff of PACE Society, NOT any "officials"!

You know, the joke about "handling the media" just writes itself in a story like this.
