Pakistan's Military Sends In The Helicopters...55 Taliban Killed This Morning

The Pakistani military is beginning to use two things that will always give them superiority over the Taliban in the Pakistani struggle - first, they are now using their helicopter gunships to target specific hideouts and camps and second, the Pakistani forces are using intelligence reports that only they can get to find those hot spots. And the result this morning was 55 dead Taliban from numerous helicopter attacks on Taliban positions. Here's the complete article from Breitbart:

Pakistan kills 55 militants in Swat valley: army

Pakistani helicopter gunships and ground forces Saturday killed at least 55 militants in the troubled Swat valley as part of a full-scale operation against the Taliban, the military said.
"Early morning attack helicopters engaged militants hideouts in Mingora. Fifteen militants are reportedly killed in the engagement," the military said in a statement.
It said that several militant hideouts were targeted and their main headquarters were destroyed.

Militant bases in Matta were attacked too, it added.
"Militant hideouts were also engaged in Peochar, Qambar, Banababa, Ziarat, Mushkomai and Chamtalai areas in Khawzakhela. Reportedly, 30-40 militants have been killed," the statement said.

See, this is what has always frustrated the hell out of me - the Pakistani military has a treasure trove of intel on the Taliban - they have enough sources to fill a couple of greyhound buses and when it gets down to the nitty gritty, the Pakistani army can pull up that intel and send in the appropriate death squads to take out the Taliban where they congregate. If only we can get this kind of blitzkrieg to continue for another two weeks solid. But, that's a big "if."

Well, lets see how long this lasts, at least until the next peace deal.
