The story on this from Breitbart is very brief so I've excerpted the entire story just below but this is another sign of the bad way that al Qaeda tasted defeat in Iraq. It appears this bad guy was one of the head honchos over in Syria that kept that funnel of al Qaeda fighters flowing into Iraq through Syria. Here's the story:
It's my guess that this guy found himself with a bunch of al Qaeda trainees who when they looked across the Syrian border in Iraq and saw the desert teeming with U.S. Marines, Apache flyovers and Awakening patrols, turned in their shit and high-tailed it back to where they came from. At the same time, I gotta believe that the cross border operation into Syria by the Americans...what was that...about nine months ago? Well, that had to have gotten this guy a little jumpy, eh?
Saudi Arabia: Senior al-Qaida leader surrendersNow, I personally think the whole program of "rehabilitation" is a farce in Saudi Arabia - basically it's amnesty under a different name but at the same time, it has to have gotten pretty bad out there in the desert for old al-Ruwaily to travel back to Saudi Arabia and turn his ass in, don't you think?
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) - Saudi Arabia says a senior al-Qaida leader has returned to the country voluntarily and turned himself in.
The Interior Ministry says Fahad al-Ruwaily was on a list of the kingdom's 85 most wanted militants living abroad. Ministry spokesman Mansour al-Turki said he returned to Saudi Arabia Wednesday, but he refused to give more information.
A news Web site close to the ministry said Thursday that al-Ruwaily was a key figure in al-Qaida training camps along Syria's border with Iraq. The Doaa Web site said he provided fighters with weapons and forged travel documents to help them enter Iraq from Syria.
The Saudis appealed in February for 85 suspects to surrender, offering to reunite them with their families after rehabilitation.

Yeah, this idiot will probably be treated like a hero when out of sight of Western eyes.
They don't have any qualms about chopping off a hungry child's hand for stealing something to eat - or lashing one of those lewd woman nearly to death (you know, those lewd women who happen to walk near an unrelated male, even if the women is wearing a freaking burka tent).
But this guy will not be treated like the scum he is. With friends like Saudis, who needs al qaeda?
Exactly Brent - the only issue for Saudi Arabia is that they ARE a major target of al Qaeda - so there are times I think they don't know WHAT the heck to do with these guys.

Nice, but not much help, as while the Saudi government is killing or arresting Al Queda terrorists, Saudi citizens are funding the jihad, the Taliban, and radicals in Pakistan and elsewhere, including hate mosques in the US and terrorist groups in the UK. I think the only solution is the Ann Coulter plan, invade, destroy and convert them to Christianity.
If you invade and destroy them there won't be any to convert to christianity. But barring that illogic, if your goal is to convert them, isn't that stepping down to their level? Don't give me any tripe about christianity being morally superior- you just proved that false!
Besides, how many people are you aware of that have converted from islam to christianity? A good metaphor is that they are inoculated against jesus as part of their indoctrination.
