Wow. As an ex paratrooper myself, being a towed jumper is a scary thing. At least this was a helo, and he was not bouncing off the side of a C-130 at 150 mph! In a helo, you have more options. They could secure him and easily land. In a plane, they either get you back into the plane (hopefully alive), or cut you free. No bueno.

Since we don't see it in the video, what do you think they did with this guy? Cut him loose?

I don't know...it looks like they were trying to reel him back in. They have devices that can do that. At least in the helo, speed is not really a factor, so they may have gotten him back onto the bird. I bet they did a really careful landing with him dangling beneath though.
