The retaliation for the Israeli airstrikes in Gaza has begun with more than 40 rockets being fired into southern Israel - one Israeli civilian has been killed. Here's some of the details from JPost:
This is undoubtedly going to go on for the entire weekend - there will be more rockets fired into Israel and I believe the Israelis will follow that with more air strikes. The reports out right now say that Israel will NOT move troops and armor into Gaza...here's one of those reports:
Bottom line is we are in for a bloody weekend, folks - I think we will see new Israeli airstrikes hitting the new areas where these latest rockets are coming in from.
The other issue is going to be what effect the Israeli airstrikes had on Hamas and Islamic Jihad commanders and leadership - were any high value targets killed? Are any Hamas leaders "missing"? If we hear nothing from Hamas leadership for awhile, that more than likely means they are burrowed in deep and won't poke their heads above ground for quite a few days. Nice, huh?
Less than two hours after IAF air strikes hammered Hamas installations throughout the Gaza Strip, Palestinian gunmen launched on Saturday what many expect to be the beginning of a massive Kassam rocket barrage into Israeli territory.
Over 40 rockets struck areas throughout the western Negev. In Netivot, one person was killed, one person was seriously wounded, and four others sustained light to moderate injuries when their house was hit by a rocket.

Israel will employ measures to counter the ongoing Palestinian rocket fire on the western Negev, but such measures will not include an invasion of the Gaza Strip, President Shimon Peres told the London-based newspaper Asharq al-Awsat in a report published on Saturday.

All the wounded were evacuated to Soroka hospital in Beersheva.
Later, a rocket hit a house in the community of Mivtahim, seriously wounding one person and lightly wounding another. A Magen David Adom team treated the wounded at the scene.
