I believe the Israelis are trying to completely cut off this secondary flow of other items like food and oil and that will further isolate Hamas' rule and drag it down - let's face it, if conditions in Gaza deteriorate even further over the next six months, the people of Gaza are going to take things into their own hands and I would guess it is the Israelis' opinion that they might undermine Hamas' control of the strip.

The tunnels are a major lifeline for Gaza's Hamas rulers. Israel's military declined comment.
Palestinian security officials reported multiple air strikes in the border area where smugglers have dug dozens of tunnels in recent years. Weapons and commercial goods are brought in through the passageways.
Gaza has been under Israeli and Egyptian blockade since a violent Hamas takeover in June 2007. The tunnels have helped Hamas stay in power by relieving shortages.

Well if any of those asshats were hiding in the tunnels at least there were savings on the funeral expenses. But again I say, not one crumb, not drop of oil, not one bandaid should get in until the Gazans have taken matters into their own hands and make lamppost decorations out of hamas. Well it dont really matter to me who kills hamas as long as then end result is their souls roasting in the fires of hell.
