Hamas, Palestinian Clan Battle In Gaza With 4 Killed

Just another reminder from Gaza that Hamas has all kinds of troubles trying to control anything in its own backyard as Hamas police and members of the Doghmush clan battled - 3 clan members were killed and one Hamas policeman bit it. Here's some of the details from Breitbart:

Hamas police waged a fierce gunbattle against members of a heavily armed Palestinian clan in a crowded neighborhood Tuesday, leaving three clan members and one policeman dead, officials said Tuesday.
Machine-gun fire and explosions were audible around the neighborhood home to the Doghmush clan, a notorious family with links to both militant and criminal groups. Members of the clan were responsible for kidnapping a British Broadcasting Corp. journalist last year.

Police surrounded the Doghmush compound late Monday after a clan member killed a policeman while resisting arrest earlier in the day. Fighting erupted after the clan refused to turn the man over, Ghussen said, and appeared to die down after about nine hours.

The battle raged outside the house of a senior Hamas leader, Mahmoud Zahar, who lives in the same neighborhood.
The fiercely independent and widely feared Doghmush clan includes members close to Hamas' Fatah opponents, as well as members of Islamic militias that have been allied with Hamas.
What these battles show to the World is just how unworthy the Palestinians are of even consideration for "statehood." For the time being, forget about the fact that the Palestinians are basically a terrorist organization with designs for the murder of innocent Israelis (although that should be the ace in the hole for any discussion of their having their own country) but just look at the way that Fatah and Hamas have been at each others' throats since Hamas won the elections years ago.

This is a society of madness and chaos. These are a people shunned by every Arab nation in the region. Most islamic countries in the world put the Palestinians on a pedestal due to their fight with Israel but in the long run, they want nothing to do with the vermin that live in Palestine. And yet, the world continues to throw money down a rabbit's hole here in Palestine - at what point in time does the world just say this: these people are incapable of running the most basic affairs of their own and with their views of Israel's destruction, there shall be not one more dime of aid or support sent to the Palestinians. When will that finally happen?

4 dead as Hamas, clan battle in Gaza City

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - Hamas police waged a fierce gunbattle against members of a heavily armed Palestinian clan in a crowded neighborhood Tuesday, leaving three clan members and one policeman dead, officials said Tuesday.
Machine-gun fire and explosions were audible around the neighborhood home to the Doghmush clan, a notorious family with links to both militant and criminal groups. Members of the clan were responsible for kidnapping a British Broadcasting Corp. journalist last year.
The fighting was the worst violence in Gaza since nine people were killed in an early August clash between ruling Hamas and another clan tied to the rival Fatah movement.
Since violently taking over Gaza last year, Hamas has moved to establish order in Gaza's once-chaotic streets and eliminate groups who could threaten its rule.
Three Doghmush militiamen were killed Tuesday, along with one policeman, said Ihab Ghussen, a spokesman for the Hamas-controlled Interior Ministry.
No immediate confirmation was available from the Doghmush clan. Earlier, the family posted an announcement on a Gaza Web site saying several of its members were hurt.

Those militiamen took part in the capture of an Israeli soldier in a cross-border raid in 2006 and others who seized BBC journalist Alan Johnston and held him for nearly four months last year.
