This is just awesome! Now, it's a very brief report on it here from UPI but I'm sure more details will be forthcoming but U.S. and Iraqi forces have apprehended two dozen al Qaeda in Iraq jihadists in just one day.
Here's what one of the U.S. military commanders had to say:
That says it all don't you think? I love it - "destroy and dismantle" - has a real ring to it, doesn't it?
The other thing to notice here is that the al Qaeda jihadists were captured, not killed. This to me shows signs of al Qaeda losing some heart or they are using some pretty fresh new recruits. In most of these situations there are considerable dead as al Qaeda is not known for surrender. This could be a positive sign - the other key may be the fact that so many leaders of al Qaeda in Iraq have been killed or captured in the past six months - without the leaders, the followers are going to raise that white flag a lot quicker.
One can only hope for another two dozen captured tomorrow.
Here's what one of the U.S. military commanders had to say:
"We will continue to destroy and dismantle al-Qaida networks to ensure a more secure Iraq, free of the dangerous terrorists who threaten innocent lives," said spokesman Cmdr. Scott Rye.

Numerous al-Qaida suspects arrested
BAGHDAD, March 17 (UPI) -- U.S. and Iraqi forces detained more than two dozen terror suspects, U.S. military officials said Monday. Al-Qaida suspects were arrested in northern Iraq, Baghdad and elsewhere, the officials said. Some of the suspects were believed to roadside bomb specialists responsible for several recent attacks in the northern Iraqi city of Sulaymaniyah. "We will continue to destroy and dismantle al-Qaida networks to ensure a more secure Iraq, free of the dangerous terrorists who threaten innocent lives," said spokesman Cmdr. Scott Rye.

what a waste of food and resources "holding" them. The rules covering them in the Geneva Conventions says they can be shot.
We've gained a lot of crucial intelligence from captured AQI forces . These days they are worth more to us alive than dead.
