Taliban Hang Afghan Civilian For ' Spying '

The Taliban, in the Musa Qala district, hanged a civilian man from an electric pole today because he was supposedly a spy for American troops and Afghan forces. Now, if you remember, Musa Qala is the battle just waged a few weeks ago where the Taliban was humiliated and wiped out and forced out of Musa Qala by Coalition and Afghan forces. So, what do you think? You think this guy was really a spy or you think someone is a little bitter about having their ass handed to them?
The Taliban seem pretty brave hanging an innocent civilian....a different picture than the Taliban we saw running like scared rabbits for the mountains to escape Musa Qala.

Here's the brief story. I've excerpted the entire story below.

Taliban hang Afghan for ‘spying’

KANDAHAR, Jan 18: Taliban militants hanged a man from an electricity pole in southern Afghanistan after accusing him of spying for US troops and the Afghan government, a district chief said on Friday.A man who identified himself as a Taliban commander confirmed the execution in Musa Qala district, which Afghan and international soldiers took from the rebels in December after it had been in rebel control for 10 months.Musa Qala district chief Haji Abdul Salaam told AFP the man who was hanged was an ordinary civilian. “He had nothing to do with the government or anyone. The Taliban have hanged him for spying,” said Salaam, a former Taliban member who has joined the government.—AFP
