Happy Monday! The Day of the Week When U.S. Predator Drones Bring Death To Taliban...Today's Tally: 5 Dead Taliban in North Waziristan

Someday I should go back and review all of the predator drone strikes that the U.S. has conducted in NW Pakistan and tabulate the day of the week when most strikes take place but I am almost positive, without doing that menial task, that Monday is by far the most popular day to fire hellfire missiles from predators into Taliban compounds.

Well, today is no different as five Taliban were killed in a predator strike on a compound in North Waziristan. Yes, that's North Waziristan again. You know, if you are a jihadi in North Waziristan and the weekend comes to an end, you really outta tunnel underground in one of those spider holes like Saddam Hussein was hiding in.

Anyway, we're off to a reasonable start this week - hopefully we'll se a few more predator strikes running the bill up further later this week. The story below is from DAWN.

US drone attack kills five militants in North Waziristan

MIRAMSHAH: A US drone fired two missiles into a Taliban compound in Pakistan's tribal area near the Afghan border late Monday, killing at least five militants, security officials said.

The compound, located in mountainous Boya village about 20 kilometres (12 miles) west of North Waziristan region's main town of Miramshah, belonged to a militant commander.

“The compounds was owned by local Taliban commander Tariq Khan,” a security official told AFP, adding that the unmanned aircraft fired two missiles.

“We have confirmation of five people killed,” an administration official said, adding that the death toll may rise. AT least two militants were believed to have been wounded.

Monday's missile attack came as Pakistani security forces killed 39 militants in heavy fighting in Orakzai, another tribal region, officials said.— AFP
