Lebanon's Prime Minister Saniora Accuses Hezbollah Of Armed Coup

The world finally heard from Lebanon's Prime Minister today and this is what Fuad Saniora had to say according to the piece at Breitbart:

Saniora said the dream of democracy in Lebanon has been dealt "a poisonous stab by the armed coup carried out by Hezbollah and its allies."

The reason this is the first we've heard from Saniora is because he's bloody surrounded! He's holed up in this government office with, I guess, at least a few loyal Lebanese troops protecting him.

But bottom line is this - as I said yesterday, it is over. Whether or not Hezbollah decides to completely take over Lebanon or they decide to allow the shell of the government to stay in power, they have proven that they run the show and there is nothing that can ever, ever stop them in Lebanon. As I type this, I am positive that Hezbollah is moving south and they will put pressure on U.N. observers to move out of the southern areas.

My guess is that Iran, after seeing some of Hamas' struggles with actually trying to govern a people, will not want Hezbollah in direct command of the government so I see them putting the army chief in as head of state and more than likely, the basic structure of the government will stay in place.

Either way it is horribly bad news for Israel and the West.

Lebanese prime minister accuses Hezbollah of 'armed coup'

BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) - Prime Minister Fuad Saniora says Hezbollah has carried out "armed coup" against Lebanese democracy.
Saniora is holed up at his government headquarters protected by Lebanese troops after Hezbollah and its allies swept through the Muslim sector of the capital after sectarian clashes.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.
BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP)—Police say gunmen have killed two people and wounded two others in a shooting targeting a funeral procession in a Sunni neighborhood in Beirut.
The violence comes as Lebanon is experiencing the worst sectarian strife since a 15-year civil war ended in 1990.
Saturday's shooting occurred a day after Shiite Hezbollah gunmen took over large swaths of Sunni neighborhoods in Beirut's Muslim sector.
An Associated Press photographer who saw the shooting says the attack happened while a group of 200 people headed toward a cemetery to bury a 24-year-old. The man was killed by a sniper's bullet in this week's clashes.
The shooting came as the rest of the capital appeared calmer Saturday.
