This is good news - it's good to see that these pigs were upset at their sentences, it's good to know that the Canadians didn't buy the bullshit of the defense on this.

And what's even better....look at what the judge told the convicted assasins:

Shafia family all found guilty of first-degree murder in 'honour killings'

The murder trial of three Afghan-Canadians accused of drowning four relatives in a so-called “honour killing” came to a cathartic end Sunday afternoon as the defendants were convicted on all charges.

Before the trio were led away in handcuffs and shackles to begin automatic sentences of life imprisonment with no possibility of parole for 25 years, each proclaimed their innocence, and they were visibly upset.

Mr. Justice Robert Maranger of Superior Court was unmoved.

Their crimes stemmed from “a sick notion of honour that has absolutely no place in any civilized society,” he told the packed courtroom.

“You have each been convicted of the planned and deliberate murder of four members of your family,” the trial judge said, citing a verdict that was “clearly supported by the evidence presented at this trial.

“It is difficult to conceive of a more despicable, more heinous crime. The apparent reason behind these cold-blooded, shameful murders was that the four completely innocent victims offended your completely twisted concept of honour, a notion of honour that is founded upon the domination and control of women.”

Staring hard at the defendants, the judge said:

“There is nothing more honourless than the deliberate murder of, in the case of Mohammad Shafia, three of his daughters and his wife, in the case of Tooba Yahya, three of her daughters and a stepmother to all her children, in the case of Hamed Shafia, three of his sisters and a mother.”

Half an hour later, a large crowd gathered under a cold sun to watch as businessman Mohammad Shafia, 59, his second wife Tooba Mohammad Yahya, 42, and their eldest son, Hamed, 21, were for the last time taken away in a police van. Boos rang out as they were led from the courthouse.

The verdict was reached shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon and delivered about an hour later.

In all, the seven-woman, five-man jury had deliberated just over 15 hours, spread over two days, sequestered on the second floor of the historic Frontenac County Court House in downtown Kingston.‬

After the proceedings ended, defence lawyer David Crowe said he was “disappointed” with the outcome and there would be an appeal.

Right to the end, the killers maintained they were not guilty.

“We are not criminals, we are not murderers, we didn't commit the murder and this is unjust,” Mr. Shafia said in Dari, his words relayed through a translator.

“Your honourable justice, this is not just,” his wife said through tears. “I am not a murderer, and I am a mother – a mother.”

Their son spoke in English: “Sir, I did not drown my sisters anywhere,” he said.

Mr. Shafia, Ms. Yahya and Hamed Shafia were convicted of murdering sisters Zainab, Sahar and Geeti Shafia, aged 19, 17 and 13, whose bodies were found in a submerged car at a Rideau Canal lock, just east of Kingston, in June, 2009.‬

The fourth person in the vehicle was Mr. Shafia’s first wife, Rona Amir Mohammad, 53, who had entered Canada illegally, posing as his cousin, but who in fact was part of a polygamous marriage and who by every indication had desperately wanted to escape from it.

The trial attracted enormous attention, the chief reason being that in the history of Canada, and probably every other Western country, it was unique.‬

There have been other murder charges involving so-called “honour killings” – homicides of women slain out of a perverse desire to “purify” families of disgrace created by supposedly immoral conduct. But not on this scale, and not involving parents who were willing to wipe out half their family for the sake of their honour, and then lie about it.‬

Outside court, lead prosecutor Gerard Laarhuis said the guilty verdicts reflected Canadian values that he hoped would resonate.

Holy crap. The Syrian military literally has gone to war today on the suburbs of the capital of Damascus, trying to regain control of an area that has been taken over by rebel units and protesters. The results so far is about 12 killed but that will certainly rise as the day goes by.

But the heaviest fighting was focused in a belt of suburbs and villages on the eastern outskirts of Damascus, where government troops reinforced by dozens of tanks and armored vehicles battled with armed defectors who have grown increasingly bold, staking out positions and setting up checkpoints in recent days.

Some of the fighting on Sunday was only two miles (four kilometers) from Damascus, in Ein Tarma, making it the closest yet to the capital as President Bashar Assad's regime pushes to uproot protesters and dissident soldiers who have joined the opposition.

"There are heavy clashes going on in all of the Damascus suburbs," said Rami Abdul-Rahman, director of the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, who relies on a network of activists on the ground. "Troops were able to enter some areas but are still facing stiff resistance in others."

Are we actually understanding all of this? We are seeing Syrian troops actually fighting firefights within just a few miles of where Bashir Assad is housed. We are no longer just seeing some protests in some obscure little town in bumfuck Syria but an organized rebel front that has been able to encroach upon the very capital of the country.

This really is amazing how quickly the Syria government and military have lost ground and I see an urgent call going out to Iran at any time.

The ten-month uprising against Assad, which began with largely peaceful demonstrations, has grown increasingly militarized recently as more frustrated protesters and army defectors have taken up arms against the regime.

The assault on the suburbs seemed to be a sign of the growing presence of dissident soldiers closer to Damascus, and the regime's rising concern about the situation. Although the tightly controlled capital has been relatively quiet since the uprising began, its outskirts have witnessed intense anti-regime protests and army defectors have become more visible and active in the past few months.

The military has responded with a withering assault on a string of Damascus suburbs in a bid to stamp out the resistance, leading to a spike in violence has killed nearly 100 people since Thursday.

The rising bloodshed has added urgency to new attempts by Arab and Western countries to find a resolution to the 10 months of violence, which according to the United Nations has killed at least 5,400 people as Assad seeks to crush persistent protests demanding an end to his rule.

The U.N. is holding talks on a new resolution on Syria and next week will discuss an Arab League peace plan aimed at ending the crisis. But the initiatives face two major obstacles: Damascus' rejection of an Arab plan that it says impinges on its sovereignty, and Russia's willingness to use its U.N. Security Council veto to protect Syria from sanctions.

Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Elaraby told reporters in Egypt on Sunday that contacts were under way with China and Russia.

"I hope that their stand will be adjusted in line with the final drafting of the draft resolution," he told reporters at before leaving for New York with Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim.

The two will seek U.N. support for the latest Arab plan to end Syria's crisis. The plan calls for a two-month transition to a unity government, with Assad giving his vice president full powers to work with the proposed government.

The Arab League on Saturday halted the work of its observer mission in Syria because of the escalating violence, until the League's council can meet to decide the mission's fate. Arab foreign ministers were to meet Sunday in Cairo to discuss the Syrian crisis in light of the suspension of the observers' work and Damascus' refusal to agree to the transition timetable, the League said.

U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon said he was "concerned" about the League's decision to suspend its monitoring mission and called on Assad to "immediately stop the bloodshed." He spoke at an African Union summit in Addis Ababa Sunday.

While the international community scrambles to find a resolution to the crisis, the violence on the ground in Syria has continued unabated.

On Sunday, activists said three civilians including a 16-year-old died in fierce fighting in the suburb of Kfar Batna. There was heavy shelling there and in the nearby suburbs of Saqba and Arbeen, they said.

"Troops this morning stormed Kfar Batna, Hammouriyeh and Ein Tarma," said an activist who identified himself as Mohammad Doumani, based in the Damascus suburb of Douma. "It looks like the regime has launched an operation to regain control of those areas."

Doumani said dozens of families were fleeing Ein Tarma and nearby areas for Damascus. Amateur videos posted on the Internet showed residents, including women and children, fleeing on foot carrying bags stuffed with belongings as the crackle of gunfire echoed in the background.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 23 people were killed in Syria Sunday, most of them in fighting in the Damascus suburbs and in the central city of Homs, a hotbed of anti-regime protests. The dead include 10 soldiers who were killed in an ambush in Idlib, it said.

The Local Coordination Committees activist network said 29 people were killed on Sunday, including 12 who were killed in the suburbs of the capital.

Syria's state-run news agency said "terrorists" detonated a roadside bomb by remote control near a bus carrying soldiers in the Damascus suburb of Sahnaya, killing six soldiers and wounding six others. Among those killed in the attack some 12 miles (20 kilometers) south of the capital were two first lieutenants, SANA said.

In the Iraqi northern Kurdish city of Irbil, about 200 members of Syria's Kurdish parties were holding two days of meetings to explore ways of supporting efforts to topple Assad.

Abdul-Baqi Youssef, a member of the Syrian Kurdish Union Party, said representatives of 11 Kurdish parties formed the Syrian Kurdish National Council that will coordinate anti-government activities with Syria's opposition.

"This is a good start to unify the Kurds in Syria and to drive the revolution forward for the sake of getting rid of Bashar Assad," Youssef said by telephone.

While the Kurds support the broader Syrian opposition movement's efforts to overthrow the regime, they also want opposition leaders to "guarantee our national rights before the fall of the regime," Youssef said.

Kurds make up 15 percent of Syria's 23 million people and have long complained of discrimination.

Apparently the U.S. and the Taliban have begun negotiations in Qatar aimed at an end of the War in Afghanistan. Isn't that just peachy.

Taliban negotiators have begun meeting with US officials in Qatar, where they are discussing preliminary trust-building measures aimed at ending the war in Afghanistan, The New York Times reported on Sunday.

Citing several former Taliban officials, the newspaper said these measures included a possible prisoner transfer.

The Afghan government is expecting a delegation from the Qatar government to visit Kabul to explain its role in the talks, said High Peace Council secretary Aminundin Muzaffari.

The former officials said that four to eight Taliban representatives had traveled to Qatar from Pakistan to set up a political office for the exiled Afghan insurgent group, the report said.

The comments suggested that the Taliban, who have not publicly said they would engage in peace talks to end the war in Afghanistan, were gearing up for preliminary discussions, the paper said.

I'm interested in the "prisoner transfer." What does that mean? Does the Taliban hold more than one U.S. soldier? What do you suppose the Taliban want in exchange for the one U.S. soldier? One Taliban fighter? Or do you suppose this is going to be like negotiating with the likes of Hamas or Hezbollah where they want 1,000 of their guys exchanged for one of our guys?

Mark my words, any peaceful settlement to the War in Afghanistan will be violated by the Taliban within six months of signing - it will be sooner than that if American troops are withdrawn faster. The Taliban live for one thing - complete and total rule of Afghanistan and anything less than that is unacceptable...so instead of calling these "peace" negotiations, let's just call it a surrender.

Islamist Egyptian MP calls for Zawahiri's return

A member of the newly elected Egyptian parliament has called for al Qaeda's emir to return to the country "with his head held high and safely."

Aboud al Zomor, who served as the first emir of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad and was later imprisoned for his role in President Anwar Sadat's assassination, said that he welcomes Ayman al Zawahiri's return to Egypt and that he would be given safe haven, according to a report published yesterday in Al-Sharq Al-Awsat. The report was translated from Arabic by the Foundation For Defense of Democracies.

"When asked if he saw any danger in al Zawahiri's return, al Zomor said that 'he was not a threat to Egypt, the likes of al Zawahiri differed with the previous regime and they were only a danger for this regime and not for Egypt, and now he is liberating Afghanistan and Iraq...'" the report stated. Zomor also lamented that the US would be opposed to Zawahiri's return to Egypt.

Zomor denied having direct contact with members of al Qaeda, and claims to have renounced violence.

"I've distanced myself from that currently because I took the political line and closed the page on the past, as a result of which doors to peaceful action opened for us," he told Al-Sharq Al-Awsat.

Zomor is one of the primary founders of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, the terrorist group that merged with al Qaeda. Zawahiri succeeded Zomor as the group's emir and presided over its merger with bin Laden's terror group in the 1990s.

Zomor, who was freed along with his brother Tarek from prison in 2011 after serving more than 20 years for their role in assassinating Sadat, now leads the Building and Development Party, a Salafi Islamist political party that won 16 seats in Egypt's recent parliamentary elections. His party is allied with Al Nour; together they make up the Islamist Bloc, which won 127 of the 498 seats. Both Zomor's party and Al Nour call for sharia, or Islamic law. The Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, which also calls for Islamic law, won 235 of the seats in parliament, giving Islamist parties 362 total seats. The newly elected parliament will appoint the committee to craft Egypt's new constitution.

The Arab League surrendered today and decided to flee Syria as their monitors of the situation between Assad's forces and those of the rebels and protesters has become far too violent. As we all know, this lame attempt by the Arab League to try and resolve this situation was a bit like sending Ted Bundy over to supervise some teen age babysitters, so there is no surprise here....I am a bit surprised that the Arab League admitted they were giving up because of the violence though.

"Given the critical deterioration of the situation in Syria and the continued use of violence ... it has been decided to immediately stop the work of the Arab League's mission to Syria pending presentation of the issue to the league's council," the statement said.

"The secretary-general has also asked the head of the mission to take all the necessary procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of the mission's members."

The mission would remain in Syria, a source at the league had earlier told Reuters news agency, but would temporarily halt its work. The monitoring mission, which began last month, has been criticised by opponents of President Assad for delaying international pressure on the regime without stopping violent attacks against protesters.

Once again, the world will get to see what happens now when the United Nations tries to meddle in the affairs of nations and region and how worthless any solution they ever have truly is. The fact of the matter is that this fight in Syria will play out ... no matter what anyone does short of a huge military intervention from outside.

What will be interesting to see is if Assad puts out one last call for help from Iran and whether the Iranians will respond with the kind of force needed to save Bashir's ass.

The Arab League and Western countries are pushing for a United Nations Security Council resolution on Syria, where the UN says more than 5,400 people have been killed in protests which began in March.

Hundreds are believed to have been killed since the monitoring mission arrived in Syria.

The UN Security Council discussed a draft European-Arab resolution on Friday aimed at halting the bloodshed. Russia, which joined China in vetoing a previous resolution in October, said the draft was unacceptable in its present form, but said it was willing to "engage" on it.

The opposition Syrian National Council on Saturday urged Syria's diaspora to protest outside Russian diplomatic missions against Moscow's opposition to a draft resolution.

Also on Saturday, clashes in central Syria and an ambush on a bus transporting soldiers near Damascus claimed at least 15 lives, according to activists and state media reports.

Soldiers clashed with deserters in the restive central town of Rastan in Homs province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Rami Abdel Rahman, who heads the watchdog which is based in Britain, said three deserters were killed in fighting there, while five soldiers were killed in similar clashes in nearby Al-Hula, also in Homs province. Fierce clashes were also reported in the outskirts of Damascus as security forces backed by tanks raided rebellious areas.

These champions represent the greatest evil in the world to these mamby pamby pussified liberal "journalists." So every once in awhile one of these peons with a pocket protector and masking tape on his glasses will take a deep breath and try to take down someone like a Geert Wilders with some sort of scathing article....and in this example from Family Security Matters, it fails once again.

Beastweek vs. Wilders: No Contest

Beastweek decided to take a swipe at Geert Wilders this month -- no particular reason, just because he's still there. It's a singularly empty piece, a selection of complaints by Christopher Dickey rattling around, anchored by an almost comically validating chorus.

Example:

There’s no such thing as moderate Islam, Wilders insists, and he’s tired of hearing that radical Islam is something different from the mainstream faith.

BTW, Beastweek, Turkey's Erdogan goes ballistic at the very notion of "moderate Islam." The Turkish PM doesn't like assimilation, either -- calling it "a crime against humanity." But never mind. You're perfect the way you are. Don't ever change.

Robert Leiken, an old friend of mine, is the man who brought us all "The Moderate Muslim Brotherhood," which is kind of like the Edsel, or even the Titanic, for intellectuals. "Abrogation" doesn't seem to have entered the syllabus yet.

And his antipathy toward Islam goes so far that when Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands wore a headscarf during a royal visit to the Gulf monarchies last week, Wilders complained that the Dutch government should have stopped her.

It's opposition to dhimmitude -- about which Newsbeast has zero clue.

“He has to move to the middle,” urges Hirsi Ali. “He has to distinguish between violent Islamists and nonviolent Muslims. You know, there are so many shades of Muslims right now, and he could use some of them as his allies.”

Speaking out about Islam, its laws, its history, its culture, is the cardinal sin of our age. It must be demonized as "diatribes." Wilders must be slandered as cynical and self-indulgent -- just as Hirsi Ali is, by the way, in the book I mentioned above (Wanted Women). The truth must be rendered as toxic as the truth-tellers.

To that end, the acolytes of Islamic appeasement blame discourse, debate, analysis, cartoons for causing people to get hurt, putting the acolytes (dhimmi) in compliance with Islamic law. Whether it's Pope Benedict at Regensberg or Pastor Jones in the Florida scrub, the acolytes live to make them all, pope, pastor, politician, shut up -- again, in compliance with Islamic law. Most of the time they succeed. Even Hirsi Ali seems to have "evolved," certainly since she made the statements and stands cited in Wanted Women, which I discuss in this week's upcoming column as a treatise in post 9/11 moral equivalence.

Allright! The banning of face veils and burqas in Europe is really starting to catch on as The Netherlands is following the lead of France and planning a ban for next year.

Now, this kind of an action might seem a bit timid considering how much leeway the Europeans have given the Muslims over the past decade but it does show that there is some fight left in at least some Europeans. And as far as I look at it, the more the Europeans can fight back a little bit and at least slow down the encroachment of the Caliphate, the better that bodes for America.

The coalition has agreed to submit a new law to parliament next week stipulating that offenders would be fined up to 390 euros ($510), the ministry said.

Verhagen said the ban was intended to ensure that a tradition of open communication cherished in Dutch society was upheld, and to prevent people from concealing their identity in order to do harm.

Wilders, who condemned Dutch Queen Beatrix for covering her hair with a scarf on a recent royal visit to the Middle East, said on Twitter: "Great news: burqa ban will finally come to the Netherlands! Proposal approved by ministers' council. Excellent!"

Maurits Berger, professor of Islam in the contemporary West at Leiden University, said only a few hundred women wear the full face veil in the Netherlands.

"This is highly symbolic, it's part of the deal made with PVV," Berger said. "We are in the middle of a crisis. There are worse things to tackle."

The minority coalition is at odds with the Freedom Party over where to make further budget cuts, and the scale of the cuts needed.

The face-veil law, which still needs to win approval in both houses of parliament, excludes clothing worn for security reasons such as that worn by firemen and hockey players, as well as party clothing such as Santa Claus or Halloween costumes.

The ban does not apply to religious places, such as churches and mosques, nor to passengers on airplanes or en route via a Dutch airport, the interior ministry said. ($1 = 0.7615 euros)

DEARBORN HEIGHTS — A figurative beat down turned literal beating has led to the felony arrests of a group of local high school football players.

Police arrested four Star International Academy seniors Wednesday on aggravated assault charges stemming from an altercation in the team’s last game of the season.

The players -- Mohamed Ahmed, Fanar Al-Alsady, Hadee Attia and Ali Bajjey, all age 17 -- are accused of gang-beating Lutheran Westland’s quarterback as time expired in Lutheran’s 47-6 drubbing of Star on Oct. 21.

According to numerous witness statements gathered by police, Lutheran’s quarterback was set to take a knee to run out the clock. Before the snap, referees told both teams to refrain from contact, police said.

After the snap, however, the four arrested Star players burst through the line and allegedly manhandled Lutheran’s quarterback. Police said they ripped off his helmet, threw him to the ground and punched and kicked him repeatedly. The incident came to an end after coaches, players and refs stepped in and broke it up.

Police took a statement from a referee who said he heard a Star player say to hit the referees after being directed to not hit the other team.

According to published reports, Lutheran’s quarterback suffered a concussion from the beating.

Let's face the facts - the New York Times has been on a downward slide for years in readership and financial soundness....this is only a shell of what was once one of the premier newspapers in the country and what we have now is nothing but the hardest core of the Leftist rats in the joint still left there. In a front-page story on Tuesday discussing the documentary film, "The Third Jihad," and its use by the NYPD in training, The New York Times once again collaborates with radical Islamists to help shape the news. The article revealed the newspaper's bias, from the vaguely threatening headline – "In Police Training, a Dark Film on U.S. Muslims" - and by relying on those who are not simply opposed to the film, but have previously demonstrated their support of radical Islamists by both word and by association with similarly aligned groups.

The Times' article, written by Michael Powell, primarily relies on the opinions of Zead Ramadan of the Council on American-Islamic Relations' New York chapter (CAIR-NY) and Faiza Patel of the Brennan Center, both of whom aver that the NYPD acted questionably by showing city police the film, to present the case. Ramadan asserts that the movie "defiled our faith and misrepresented everything we stood for." Patel stated that, "The police have shown an explosive documentary to its officers and simply stonewalled us."

The problem with Ramadan and Patel, left unsaid by the newspaper, is found in their words and associations. As has been its longstanding policy, the Times never mentions that CAIR is a Hamas support group, created by the Muslim Brotherhood to present and promote its interests. (Of course, even if one day the Times did acknowledge that, it would still have to break another self-imposed taboo of having never once called Hamas a terrorist organization.)

In contrast to the newspaper, the film does reveal how CAIR was created shortly after a secret 1993 meeting in Philadelphia involving members of the Muslim Brotherhood's Palestine Committee. The goal was for CAIR to operate as a pro-Hamas lobbying group, without being publicly linked to Hamas.

The FBI later cited that evidence, which was used to help name CAIR as an unindicted co-conspirator in the 2007 Holy Land Foundation conspiracy trial, in explaining why it cut off formal communication with CAIR. "Until we can resolve whether there continues to be a connection between CAIR or its executives and HAMAS," FBI Assistant Director Richard Powers wrote in April 2009, "the FBI does not view CAIR as an appropriate liaison partner."

But CAIR refused to address the documentary's substance. Instead, the group issued a press release quoting Ramadan comparing it to the Nazi-era film "Triumph of the Will" and the silent movie "Birth of a Nation." Ramadan voiced his concerns to NYPD chief Raymond Kelly, who said he would "take care of it" and department spokesman Browne denounced the film as "wacky."

All of this was left out of the article on Tuesday, which also failed to inform readers about the questionable backgrounds of the movie's critics. The story said nothing about the fact that in 2010 Ramadan contributed $1,000 to Viva Palestina, an organization founded by the notorious anti-Semite George Galloway, and which supports Hamas financially and politically, or that CAIR-NY in 2008 issued a statement calling for the release of Sami al-Arian, who pleaded guilty to conspiring to contribute funds to Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a designated terrorist group.

The Investigative Project on Terrorism attended a Dec. 15, 2011 press conference held by a group calling itself the Committee to Stop FBI Repression, and asked if he considered Hamas a terrorist organization. Ramadan was asked point-blank: "Do you consider Hamas a terrorist organization?"

Ramadan proceeded to tap-dance around the question. He replied by stating that, "Islam, myself, and I think all people of conscience, are opposed to all terrorism in all of its forms against all people of the world. Anyone who is innocent that is killed, it's not the way of the Islamic people or people who stand for liberty and justice. Thank you very much."

Our investigator pressed forward, asking Ramadan about Hamas specifically. Ramadan refused to answer, stating that his concern was "the American Bill of Rights situation that we now have."

Ramadan then proceeded to attack the questioner. "You want to take our foreign policy issue and make it the number one issue in the world. No. The issue we have right here is the problem we have in America, and we're eroding," he said.

Ramadan added that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had gone to Myanmar to talk about the erosion of human rights and appeared to be "bringing that back here" and "showing how to erode our civil rights here."

Again, our investigator noted that Ramadan was evading the question about Hamas.

"He already answered," moderator Imam Talib Abdur Rashid shot back. "You just didn't get the answer you wanted."

Over and over, CAIR spends a lot of effort urging Muslim Americans not to cooperate with law enforcement. Speaking at CAIR-NY's "Annual Banquet and Leadership Conference" in April 2011, board member Lamis Deek implored her audience not to speak to the FBI, NYPD or other law enforcement agencies.

"It's very important to not speak to law enforcement of any type, not just FBI agents," she said. "We're talking about the New York Police Department, we're talking about tax agents, we're talking about everybody."

Deek said that if the FBI shows up claiming it has a warrant for someone's arrest, they need to ask to see the warrant because "Mossad" agents had been "go[ing] around pretending to be FBI." She warned that "they" (it was unclear whether she was referring to the Mossad, the FBI, or both) will threaten to "seriously blackmail" people.

Faiza Patel of the Brennan Center - which is sufficiently in accord with CAIR that in 2009 it received CAIR's 'Safe While Free' Award - offers complementary positions. At a Nov. 17 forum in Washington entitled "Islamist Radicalization, Myth or Reality," Patel appeared to suggest that any effort by law enforcement to look for signs of radicalism in the Muslim community was doomed to failure. "You can't expect the community to behave as your partner if at the same time you're subjecting them to intense surveillance and monitoring," she said.

And if Muslims were in denial about the existence of radical Islamist ideologies in their communities, perhaps law enforcement should defer to them, Patel added: "If the community doesn't believe that radicalization or extremism or extremist views or extremist ideologies is (sic) a problem in their own community, then you should also understand that maybe they know what they're talking about, and not be spending police resources this way."

In a Huffington Post op-ed, Patel denounced the NYPD's operation that resulted in the arrest of accused lone-wolf jihadist Jose Pimentel, charged with plotting to bomb U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

It should not come as a surprise that The New York Times left all of this critical information out of Tuesday's article, given the paper's long history of covering for CAIR, the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist organizations. As we have noted before, Times reporters like Andrea Elliott and columnists like Nicholas Kristof have published stories glossing over the radical background of Salafist cleric Yasir Qadhi, dean of academic affairs at the Houston-based AlMaghrib Institute, and whitewashing the Muslim Brotherhood's radical record and hostility towards Israel.

Last December, after Kristof penned a column in which he claimed that Brotherhood officials in Egypt had been behaving responsibly, Eric Trager of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy described Kristof as "credulous" about the Brotherhood. After interviewing some of the organization's members who had just been elected to Parliament, Trager wrote in the New Republic that, "Far from being moderate, these future leaders share a commitment to theocratic rule, complete with a limited view of civil liberties and an unmistakable antipathy for the West."

Nonetheless, the NYPD, apparently responding to pressure from the media and perhaps from politicians, including Mayor Bloomberg, who denounced the film, stopped showing the documentary.

Somebody [at the NYPD] exercised some terrible judgment," Bloomberg said Tuesday. "As soon as they found out about it, they stopped it." The mayor gave no indication that he had actually seen the film.

Zuhdi Jasser, president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy and narrator of the film, took exception to Bloomberg's comments. "I could not disagree more," he said. "The fact that Bloomberg made such a comment without providing any evidence that the film was in error indicates that the mayor's comment was "careless," Jasser said.

Bloomberg's ignorance should not be surprising given his administration's friendly relationship with CAIR-NY. In May 2009, for example, the mayor's education policy advisor, Fatima Ashraf, hosted the Islamist group's annual banquet and fundraiser, where she gushed praise for CAIR-NY. Ashraf called it "a shining star among Muslim organizations in the country," adding that "their sincerity and motivation" and "genuine desire to make positive change for Muslims is what really makes them stand out."

In similar fashion, Bloomberg's uninformed position is mirrored by the Times article, which does not provide any examples, or specific information of any kind, to back up criticism of the film.

The article hints in rather foreboding fashion that the film is an effort to scare people about the threat posed by radical Islam: "Ominous music plays as images appear on the screen: Muslim terrorists shoot Christians in the head, car bombs explode, executed children lie covered by sheets and a doctored photograph shows an Islamic flag flying near the White House."

Even in this brief description of the film, The New York Times got it wrong. According to Clarion Films, which produced the documentary, the photograph of the White House with an Islamic flag on top was taken from Islamist sources, not altered by the filmmakers.

Antonio Martinez, 22, who changed his name to Muhammad Hussain when he converted to Islam, pleaded guilty to attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction against federal property in connection with a plot to bomb an armed forces recruiting station outside of Baltimore, Maryland, the US Justice Department said in a statement.

FBI agents in December 2010 arrested Martinez, a recent convert to Islam whom they said dreamed of jihad, for plotting to carry out a personal strike against US forces.

Martinez was arrested as he attempted to set off what he believed was a car bomb at the military recruitment facility, but which was in fact a government-supplied fake.

Muslim convert pleads guilty in US bomb plot

WASHINGTON (AFP) – A young Muslim-American man who tried to blow up a US military recruiting station pleaded guilty Thursday and faces 25 years in prison for the scheme, justice officials said.

If the judge in the case accepts the plea deal, Martinez will be sentenced to 25 years in prison, according to US officials. A hearing has been set for April 6 in US District Court.

As has been the case over the last 10 years or so, the Taliban mounted one of their classic attacks on a Pakistani security outpost wounding up to 22 Pakistani troops but then the Pakistanis got their act together and ended up decimating the Taliban, killing up to 20 of the jihadis.

Troops kill 20 militants in Kurram Agency

PARACHINAR: A government official says security forces have killed at least 20 militants after coming under attack near the Afghan border.

Wajid Khan says 22 troops were also wounded in Thursday’s gunbattle in the northwestern Kurram tribal region.

He says the fighting began when a group of Pakistani militants attacked a security post. The troops returned fire and killed 20 militants.

The death toll could not be independently confirmed as the fighting was in a remote mountainous area that is off-limits to journalists.

Kurram is considered a main base for the Pakistani Taliban. Scores of insurgents are believed to be hiding there after escaping military operations in the nearby tribal regions in recent years.

'Strict Muslim' raped four women at knifepoint to 'punish them for being on the streets at night'

A Muslim man who raped women to 'teach them a lesson' for being on the streets at night was jailed indefinitely today because of the danger he poses to women.

Sunny Islam, 23, who comes from a strict Muslim family, dragged his terrified victims - including a 15-year-old - from the street at knifepoint, bound and assaulted them during a two-month reign of terror.

Police fear that Islam may have attacked many more.

Three of the assaults took place close to his home in Barking, east London, while a fourth occurred in nearby Forest Gate.

Judge Patricia Lees, sentencing him to a minimum of 11 years, said: 'The harm you have done to your victims is incalculable.

'The nature and extent of these offences drives me to the conclusion that you represent an extreme and continuing danger to women, particularly those out at night.'

He was traced through the number plate of his girlfriend's car after he kidnapped and raped the 15-year-old in September 2010.

He grabbed her from behind as she walked home with a friend and bundled her into the car at knifepoint before driving to a secluded spot where he raped her twice despite her claiming she was only 11 years old.

udge Lees said: 'You told her you were going to "teach her a lesson", and similar things were said to the other women.

'Those words are a chilling indictment of your very troubling attitude towards all of these victims.

'You seem to observe women out at night as not deserving respect or protection.

'I have no doubt that you were out that night looking for a victim, as you were on each of these occasions.'

The teen, who feared she would be murdered, was in court and smiled as her attacker was jailed.

In a victim impact statement read to the court, she said: 'No one will ever understand the flashbacks - they are so real. At night, I lay in my bed and it is like I am there.

'It is like a screen in my mind forcing me to relive that night again and again.

'People will say time will heal, but I think time has helped me accept the truth - that I will never escape what has happened to me.'

After his arrest, Islam's DNA was linked with three other attacks near his home in Barking, prosecutor Sara Lawson told Woolwich Crown Court.

The judge said on July 8, 2010 he subjected a 20-year-old prostitute to 'his trademark double rape' and then tied her up, repeatedly punched her in the face and stole her wallet.

She said: 'He treated me like an animal and made me feel worthless - I thought I was going to die.'

Six days later, in Forest Gate, he struck again on a 28-year-old when he dragged her into his car and forced her to commit a sex act.

She managed to kick out the back window of his car and escape despite being throttled.

His fourth victim, also attacked in September, did not come forward until police found the 31-year-old's blood in the back of the car along with a knife he used to threaten his victims and plastic ties he bound them with.

She was repeatedly repeatedly punched in the face until she was bleeding and then tied up and raped twice.

Islam, who told the jury he was a practising Muslim, was convicted of seven charges of rape, one of sexual assault and one of kidnap.

Tana Adkin, defending, said: 'The only piece of mitigation is his age. He was 21 at the time of these offences and comes from something of a strict background.'

His mother, in religious dress, sat with her covered head bowed throughout and wept as her son was jailed.

Judge Lees said: 'The fact that you have attacked these women not withstanding your background must represent your own wholly warped personality.'

After the trial, Det Chief Insp John Sandlin, of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command who investigated the offences, said they believed there may be other victims who had not come forward, but Islam has not been charged with any further offences.

U.S. Navy SEALs Rescue 2 Aid Workers From Somalia, 9 Somali Pirates Killed In Helicopter Operation

Whoa! A daring rescue of two aid workers who had been captured in Somalia by Somalian pirates - one worker being American and the other Danish was performed successfully last night by U.S. Navy SEALs in Somalia - both hostages are fine, all SEALs are okay, nine Somali pirates appear to have "Heckler and Koch syndrome."

U.S. military forces carried out a dramatic helicopter rescue overnight in Somalia, freeing two Western aid workers taken hostage by pirates.

Jessica Buchanan, a 32-year-old American, and Poul Hagen Thisted, 60-year-old Dane, both from the Danish Demining Group had been kidnapped in October in the central Somali town of Galkayo, which until then had been considered relatively safe for Westerners.

Early Wednesday, the Danish Refugee Council, of which the demining group is a part of, confirmed the successful rescue operation of the two aid workers.

The overnight raid was carried out by U.S. military hellicopters and Navy seals operating out of an American base in the tiny east African nation of Djibouti. After the mission, they returned to the Djibouti base with the two.
Witnesses reported a gun battle that left several pirates dead, according to news agencies. Both hostages were unharmed in the rescue.

The AP reported that Bilal Hussein, a pirate, said he had been informed by other at the scene that nine pirates has been killed.

Let's face it, a rescue attempt in Somalia is enough to get anyone's stomach in a pit but it appears that this operation went down like clockwork - I'm sure the Somali pirates had no idea what hit them until it was far too late.

One thing I'd like to throw out here to Rep. Ron Paul...under your direction, our SEALs would have been stationed in Virginia or California - perhaps you can describe at the next debate Congressman Paul just how this operation would have been pulled off by our SEALs traveling from California as opposed to the strategic small base in Djibouti.

Al Shabaab Suicide Bomber Hits Ethiopian Troop Compound, Claim 33 Killed

The number of dead Ethiopian soldiers has not been verified and the scum at Al Shabaab have never told the truth in their lives but from all accounts it appears that today's suicide bomb attack on an Ethiopian military compound in western Somalia by an al Qaeda-linked jihadi was real bad. Al Shabaab is claiming they killed 33 Ethiopian troops so it's probably more like 7 or 8 but we'll have to see what Ethiopia has to say.

The attack took place in the city of Beledweyne near the border of Ethiopia. Shabaab said the suicide bomber from the "Martyrdom Brigade" targeted "a building known as the Regional Headquarters which housed the Ethiopian army," and claimed more than 200 Ethiopian troops and their officers were stationed there, according to a statement provided by the SITE Intelligence Group.

A local security official told the BBC that Ethiopian soldiers shot and killed the suicide bomber at the gate of the compound. The blast was sufficiently large enough to cause most of the building to collapse, however.

Ethiopian officials have not disclosed the number of casualties. African countries such as Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and Burundi, which have forces in Somalia, often underreport their casualties.

Shabaab claimed that "33 Ethiopian soldiers, including 4 senior commanders" were killed "and up to 72 injured and the number is steadily increasing." The figures provided by Shabaab could not be confirmed, and the terror group is known to exaggerate the results of its operations.

Shabaab said that today's suicide attack "is part of the new strategy adopted by the Mujahideen as a bold response to the increasingly hostile enemies that have invaded Somalia." Shabaab withdrew from Beledweyne weeks ago after Ethiopian forces reentered Somalia in force. Shabaab has also withdrawn from most of the capital of Mogadishu after African Union forces went on the offensive last summer. Shabaab has launched suicide attacks, and conducted ambushes and assassinations in the capital.

I certainly don't have to reiterate here what a bloody mess Somalia is right now but we have to keep in mind that there are fighting forces from damn near all of Africa right now in the country trying to stave off the Muslim rebel group there - it's gotta be a cluster of all clusters right now.

But we can see how al Shabaab is going to try and create unrest back in the other countries with these kinds of terror attacks - you gotta bet there will be Ethiopians now calling for the withdrawal of all troops from Somalia....course that just means al Shabaab will be crossing their own border sooner than if they keep fighting them in Somalia.

Today's suicide attack in Somalia is the second in the war-torn country in the past week. On Jan. 19, a suicide bomber killed six people at a refugee camp in Mogadishu.

Shabaab, which has close ties to al Qaeda and serves as its affiliate in East Africa, and its predecessor, the Islamic Courts Union, have carried out more than 30 suicide attacks in Somalia since they sought to control the country in 2006. At least two of those suicide attacks were carried out by American citizens.

The US has been targeting senior al Qaeda and Shabaab leaders in drone strikes and special operations raids. Just last weekend, US drones killed Bilal al Berjawi, a senior al Qaeda leader who also served as a top commander for Shabaab, in a strike near Mogadishu.

African Union forces have launched offensives against Shabaab on three fronts over the past year, but Shabaab still holds much of central and southern Somalia [see map from BBC]. Ugandan and Burundian troops control of much of Mogadishu after battling Shabaab forces starting last summer. In the fall, Kenyan troops invaded southern Somalia, and took over some border areas. Later in 2011, Ethiopian troops entered Somalia and seized Beledweyne and the surrounding areas.

But this article is a typical hard hitter from Family Security Matters, written by the outstanding Frank Gaffney, Jr. and speaks of the threat of sharia law on this United States of America.

Gaffney writes:

Muslim Brotherhood front groups like the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) are squealing like, well, stuck haram (or impure) pigs. After all, they have been working overtime to try to obscure the true nature of shariah and to prevent the enactment of legislation that would interfere with the considerable progress being made below the radar in states across the country: the insinuation of shariah into the American judiciary.

Resorting to their standard technique of ad hominem attacks, CAIR and its friends have derided Mr. Gingrich's stance as "racist," "bigoted" and "Islamophobic." Such comments evidently were not persuasive to South Carolina voters - and they should be equally dismissed by everybody else.

The simple fact of the matter is that shariah defines the fault line between people who are Muslims but can love our country, respect and enjoy its freedoms and support our form of government and Constitution on the one hand, and those who are obliged by doctrine to oppose all those things. Worse, adherents to shariah must - in accordance with that doctrine - seek, as Speaker Gingrich says, "to impose it on the rest of us."

I have pointed out in the past that in Britain, there are close to 100 established Sharia courts. What that means to America is this - do you think that before the FIRST Sharia court sprang up there that any British citizen ever thought in a million years that Islamic law would become a part of the British scene? Did any Brit honestly fear a new set of laws in their country taking root? Hell no. So when you hear Americans say...."well, the Constitution forbids Sharia so it's a non-starter" beware...because it's happened already, all over Europe.

In my view, the key to the islamists' victory in establishing Sharia courts is dependent on concentration - population concentration, that is. They hope to concentrate thousands of Muslims in a section of a city where violence and protests become a daily occurence....then the imams and other islamic leaders go before the city council and state that they must have Sharia in that section of the city to maintain the calm and to mete our control of "their" citizens.

As Gaffney warns us, we see more and more instances of Sharia basis being used in U.S. courts - and in my view, this is partly due to two things - laziness by those on the bench and an influx over the past five years of extremely liberal judges. Let's face it, when you have people in a position of judicial power in this country who adhere to the ideology of political correctness and multiculturalism, you are going to get more and more recognition of Sharia law.

American Laws for American Courts

Shortly before Newt Gingrich's decisive victory in South Carolina last week, he was asked a critical question by a Palmetto State voter: Would he support a Muslim candidate for president? The former Speaker of the House answered in a way that was both characteristically insightful and profoundly helpful with respect to one of the most serious challenges our country faces at the moment.

Mr. Gingrich responded by saying it depends on a critical factor: Is the candidate "a modern person who happens to worship Allah"? Or "a person who belonged to any kind of belief in shariah, any kind of effort to impose that on the rest of us"? Speaker Gingrich observed that the former would not be a problem, while the latter would be a "mortal threat." The Georgia Republican went on to assert the need for federal legislation that would prevent shariah from being applied in U.S. courts.

For the latter Muslims, the preferred way of achieving such submission is, as Mohammed taught, through violence. Where that would be impractical and/or counterproductive for the moment, however, their doctrine encourages the use of stealthy techniques to advance the same, supremacist goal.

The Muslim Brotherhood in America calls this "civilization jihad." It seeks through, for example, the use of shariah in U.S. courts to insinuate their program here at the expense of our constitutional rights and state public policy.

A sense of how far along we are in this process was provided by a study conducted last year by the Center for Security Policy. Entitled Shariah Law and American State Courts: An Assessment of State Appellate Court Cases, the report is a microcosm of U.S. jurisprudence. Its findings were alarming: Out of a sample of 50 cases, in 27 instances in 23 states, the courts involved allowed the use of shariah to adjudicate the dispute.

In almost all of the cases, that outcome was at the expense of the constitutional rights of American women or children. Under shariah, they simply do not enjoy the same stature and are not entitled to the same freedoms as they are under U.S. law.

In November 2010, seventy percent of the voters of Oklahoma approved an amendment to the state constitution that would have barred shariah from being used in Oklahoma's courts. No sooner had the balloting ended than the local franchise of CAIR - an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial - asked for an injunction on the grounds that such a prohibition would violate Muslims' constitutional rights. A federal judge agreed, and was recently upheld by an appellate court.

Fortunately, those who concur with Newt Gingrich on the nature of the threat posed by shariah and who want to prevent its further penetration into this country have another option. Three states - Tennessee, Louisiana and Arizona - have already enacted a statute known as American Laws for American Courts(ALAC). It prohibits the use of any foreign law in the state's courts that would interfere with U.S. constitutional rights or state public policy.

While shariah would certainly be covered by ALAC, it is not singled out for special treatment. No challenge has been mounted thus far in any of the states where it is the law today. And some 20 other states are actively considering ALAC's adoption in the current legislative session.

The Muslim Brotherhood and its friends desperately hope to stave off the further enactment of American Laws for American Courts. They recognize that it can effectively thwart a key part of their civilization jihad in this country. They also have seen that, wherever ALAC is considered, more and more of our countrymen are becoming aware of the problem Newt Gingrich has helped define: the threat from shariah and the need to keep its adherents from imposing that toxic, anti-constitutional doctrine on the rest of us, whether by stealth in our courts (among other places) or through terrifying violence.

For all these reasons, we should ensure that neither shariah nor any other form of foreign or transnational law is allowed to trump our constitutional rights. To the Muslim Brotherhood's fury, ALAC is a way of doing it in a constitutionally sound and highly teachable way.

Like clockwork, al Qaeda in Iraq continues to prey on Iraq's Shia population as today another two car bombing attacks hit Baghdad killing 10 people and wounding 31.

Bombs in two parked cars exploded in a mainly Shia area of Iraq’s capital on Tuesday, killing at least 10 people and wounding 31, police and hospital sources said.

The first blast occurred near a group of labourers gathered to wait for jobs and the second near a traffic intersection, both in the northeastern Sadr City area of Baghdad.

Iraq has been hit by a number of bombings targeting Shias after a political crisis that has threatened to break up its fragile coalition government and raised fears of renewed sectarian violence after US troops pulled out in mid-December.

As we saw earlier on in the Iraq War, we're actually seeing an amazing amount of restraint by the Shia of Iraq - this is classic al Qaeda in Iraq trying to stir up a sectarian war in the country by taking out Shia....the strategy is to goad the Shias into responding against Sunnis and thus leading some of the Sunni groups into full blow retaliation.

Violence in Iraq has dropped sharply from the height of sectarian killing in 2006-2007, but insurgents and militias still carry out daily attacks and assassinations in an attempt to undermine the government.

Angry housemaid serves food mixed with urine for revenge

People who mistreat their housemaid should begin to have second thoughts as they might never imagine where she would strike back. In Saudi Arabia, the counter-attack came in the family’s food and the weapon deployed was urine.

Just after they finished their meal, the family members began to wonder why the food had a strange taste as were previous meals. When the Saudi man asked his Asian housemaid, she just pretended to be as surprised as him.

“The man then decided to act…he took part of that food and went straight to the laboratory,” the Saudi Arabic language daily Kabar said in a report from the northern town of Arar close to the border with Iraq.

“Test results showed the food was mixed with urine…only then the man realized it was the maid’s urine since she cooks for the family….he thought she might be avenging bad treatment by some members of the family and decided to hand her over to the police.”

We are experiencing Solar Activity on a scale we haven't seen in decades. The Sun has come to life and is throwing a fit.

RADIATION STORM IN PROGRESS: Solar protons accelerated by this morning's M9-class solar flare are streaming past Earth. On the NOAA scale of radiation storms, this one ranks S3, which means it could, e.g., cause isolated reboots of computers onboard Earth-orbiting satellites and interfere with polar radio communications. An example of satellite effects: The "snow" in this SOHO coronagraph movie is caused by protons hitting the observatory's onboard camera.

ALMOST-X FLARE AND CME (UPDATED): This morning, Jan. 23rd around 0359 UT, big sunspot 1402 erupted, producing a long-duration M9-class solar flare. The explosion's M9-ranking puts it on the threshold of being an X-flare, the most powerful kind. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured the flare's extreme ultraviolet flash:

"This was amazing," he says. "It was a wonderful experience to see these stunning auroras."

NOAA forecasters estimate a 10% - 25% chance of continued geomagnetic storms tonight as effects from the CME impact subside. The odds will increase again on Jan. 24-25 as a new CME (from today's M9-clare) approaches Earth. High-latitude sky watchers should remain alert for auroras.

We could experience blackouts, loss of satellite signals, even loss of television (cable) systems.

A powerful solar eruption is expected to blast a stream of charged particles toward Earth tomorrow (Jan. 24), as the strongest radiation storm since 2005 rages on the sun.

Early this morning (0359 GMT Jan. 23, which corresponds to late Sunday, Jan. 22 at 10:59 p.m. EST), NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory caught an extreme ultraviolet flash from a huge eruption on the sun, according to the skywatching website Spaceweather.com.

According to NOAA, this is the strongest solar radiation storm since May 2005, and as a precaution, polar flights on Earth are expected to be re-routed within the next few hours, Kathy Sullivan, deputy administrator of NOAA, said today at the 92nd annual American Meteorological Society meeting in New Orleans, La.

The solar flare spewed from sunspot 1402, a region of the sun that has become increasingly active lately. Several NASA satellites, including the Solar Dynamics Observatory, the Solar Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO), and the Stereo spacecraft observed the massive sun storm.

A barrage of charged particles triggered by this morning's solar flare is expected to hit Earth tomorrow at around 9 a.m. EST (1400 GMT), according to experts at the Space Weather Prediction Center, a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Scientists call these electromagnetic bursts "coronal mass ejections" (CMEs), and they are closely studied because they can produce potentially harmful geomagnetic storms when the charged particles rain down Earth's magnetic field lines.

In addition to generating stronger than normal displays of Earth's auroras (also known as the northern and southern lights), geomagnetic storms aimed directly at our planet can also disrupt satellites in orbit, cause widespread communications interference and damage other electronic infrastructures.

"There is little doubt that the cloud is heading in the general direction of Earth," Spaceweather.com announced in an alert. "A preliminary inspection of SOHO/STEREO imagery suggests that the CME will deliver a strong glancing blow to Earth's magnetic field on Jan. 24-25 as it sails mostly north of our planet."

Sunday's solar flare was rated an M9-class eruption, which placed it just on the verge of being an X-class flare, the most powerful type of solar storm. M-class sun storms are powerful but mid-range, while C-class flares are weaker.

NASA routinely monitors space weather conditions to determine any potential hazards to the astronauts aboard the International Space Station. Based on the agency's assessment, the six spaceflyers currently living and working on the orbiting outpost are not in any danger, said NASA spokesman Kelly Humphries.

"The flight surgeons have reviewed the space weather forecasts for the flare and determined that there are no expected adverse effects or actions required to protect the on-orbit crew," Humphries told SPACE.com in an email.

Israel: The Real Lone Star State

What would have been the largest-scale war games in the two countries’ military cooperation history with thousands of U.S. and Israeli Army servicemen, dozens of ships and deck-based aircraft, was called off on January 15th.

The ‘Austere Challenge 2012’ was more than just war games. Aside from its size and importance it came at a time when both the U.S. and Israel are beyond being ‘concerned’ about Iran.

The missile defense exercise would have had the Israeli Arrow anti-ballistic missile system tested together with the American Patriot system along with the THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) missile systems.

The drill would have included the firing of new missiles as well as 3000 American and Israeli soldiers participating together, the largest ever held jointly by the two countries.

Originally the exercise was just postponed and reported as such by both the U.S. and Israel media outlets. Who was really behind the postponement varied depending on which report one read.

Arutz Sheva (Israel National News) reported on January 15th,

Israel announced Sunday it is postponing the largest-ever anti-missile military exercise with the United States for “technical” reasons days after President Barack Obama called Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to reiterate his “unshakeable” commitment to Israel’s security.

The White House did not elaborate, but the president reportedly told the Prime Minister to back off any plans for attacking Iran.

The report continued with an implication that it would be held 3 months later than planned,

A delay of another three months will give the Obama administration additional time to try to prove its sanctions against Iran are working, hopefully precluding the need for a military strike to stop Iran’s nuclear development.

One day later the NY Times reported it was more of a joint decision,

Israel and the United States have agreed to postpone major joint missile-defense exercises that had been scheduled for the spring because of regional tensions and instability, according to Israel’s foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman.

The move appears intended to avoid further escalating tensions with Iran, which is under intense international diplomatic and economic pressure to curb its nuclear program out of fears that it is seeking to make a nuclear bomb.

Some reports stated that it was due to Israel and “budgetary” reasons but those were quickly denied by Israel. Then reports started to come out that it was Obama and Washington that cancelled the drill.

Given the way the Obama administration has dealt with Israel over the past three years as well as the U.S. administrations handling of Iran that story seemed plausible, but now it seems it was Prime Minister Netanyahu that called off the event.

The Debka File website reported on January 17th,

“Joint US-Israel drill called off by Netanyahu, to Washington's surprise”

Sources disclose exclusively that, contrary to recent reports published in Washington, Jerusalem - and this site too - it was Israel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, not the Obama administration, who decided to call off the biggest ever joint US-Israeli military exercise Austere Challenge 12 scheduled for April 2012.

Washington was taken aback by the decision. It was perceived as a mark of Israel's disapproval for the administration's apparent hesitancy in going through with the only tough sanctions with any chance of working against Iran's nuclear weapon program.

Debka listed 4 reasons for Netanyahu’s decision, in part,

1. Washington has taken no action against Iran's capture of the RQ-170 stealth drone on Dec. 4

2. Silence from Washington also greeted the start of 20-percent grade uranium enrichment at the underground Fordo facility near Qom when it was announced Jan. 9.

3. Three weeks ago, on Jan. 3 Lt. Gen. Ataollah Salehi, Iran's Army chief, announced that the aircraft carrier USS Stennis and other "enemy ships" would henceforth be barred from entering the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz . Yet since then, no US carrier has put this threat to the test by attempting a crossing. Tehran has been left to crow.

4. Even after approving sanctions on Iran's central bank and energy industry, the White House announced they would be introduced in stages in the course of the year. According to Israeli's calculus, another six months free of stiff penalties will give Iran respite for bringing its nuclear weapon program to a dangerous and irreversible level.

Given the current state of Iran’s nuclear program and using a liberal timeline there is no doubt that Iran will have a nuclear weapon by years end and this something that Israel has stated it will not allow under any circumstances.

This only leaves Israel one way to deal with this threat and if the U.S. will not work with, let alone back them on any type of military intervention, Israel has no choice but to go about it on its own. It’s truly a matter of survival.

Just this past Thursday the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) had its first parachuted brigade training exercise in more than 15 years. Arutz Sheva reported,

More than 1,000 paratroopers took part in the exercise, which required each paratrooper to jump from an IAF aircraft and immediately spring into a dynamic battlefield once on the ground.

The soldiers were required to use night vision equipment and the constellations overhead to navigate to their respective battalions. While carrying 60 kilograms (133 lb) of equipment, the soldiers took part in a march and a live-fire training exercise in which they ambushed hills and took over targets.

“This is a regimental parachuting exercise which will test the IDF’s ability to bring a whole brigade of warriors deep into the field,” one commander said.

He explained the reason the IDF is bringing back this type of exercise is so that it can be prepared for any possible scenario.

This is not a first for Israel by any stretch of the imagination. Israel took out the Iraqi nuclear plant in 1981 and the Syrian nuclear facility in 2007.

But this is different all together. Both Iraq and Syria had only one plant each and they were not underground. Most importantly, the proximity of both allowed Israel to fly there and back home safely. The distance to Iran and back would require either midair refueling or a stopover to refuel.

The one slight chance and I do emphasize slight chance, for Israel to stop in a neighboring country would be Saudi Arabia who no more wants a nuclear Iran than Israel does. However, even with a Saudi stop over the distance to Iran’s further known sites are still pushing the envelope of Israel’s flying capability to make there and return home.

Three possible flight routes to Iran all involve flying over countries that are hostile towards Israel or at the least would notify Iran of a pending attack. From the south Israel must fly over Jordan, Saudi Arabia and possibly Kuwait, from the north it would have to fly along the Syrian-Turkish border, a central flight would cross Jordan and Iraq.

Jordan and Turkey have already made it clear that they do not want their airspace to be used for an Israeli attack against Iran.

Guy Ben-Ari, a research fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. was interviewed back in 2009. Ben-Ari said the IAF (Israeli Air Force) has been buying and upgrading airplanes specifically for long-distance strikes such as a potential attack against Iran. At least 50 F-15 Raam and F-16 Soufa aircraft have been converted by installing extra fuel tanks for greater range and countermeasures to defeat radar and missiles.

Israel has the capability to refuel in midair as well, but there are so many other factors involved it is mind boggling. At over 1000 miles each way and avoiding detection so that no other country notifies Iran of a pending attack are just a few of the issues Israel would face on such an attack.

Once Israel is within Iran’s airspace you then have the problem of not only the amount of sites that would need to be destroyed, but the distance between them. Their locations and the terrain are another issue as well and that doesn’t even begin to cover those sites that are underground.

The Natanz nuclear facility is mostly underground and reinforced with twenty-three meters of soil and concrete. Even with Israel’s current GPS guided munitions it would require a minimum of three flyovers with the second and third attack using the cavity of the first to ‘dig’ deep enough to destroy the plant.

Achieving an attack of this sort would mean that Israeli planes would have to circle or remain in the area which then requires other aircraft to protect those dropping bombs. An attack of this magnitude would not be completed just by the air due to these factors as well as others I have not even touched on.

Israel does have submarines, at least three 1,925 ton Type 800 Dolphin class submarines built in Germany. According to the Global Security website,

These submarines have the capacity to carry anti-ship missiles, mines, decoys and STN Atlas wire-guided DM2A3 torpedoes. The surface-to-surface missiles may include the submarine-launched Harpoon which delivers a 227 kilogram warhead to a range of 130 kilometers at high subsonic speed.

Some reports suggest that the submarines have a total of ten torpedo tubes -- six 533-millimeter and four 650-millimeter. Uniquely, the Soviet navy deployed the Type 65 heavy-weight torpedo using a 650-millimeter tube. The four larger 25.5 inch diameter torpedo tubes could be used to launch a long-range nuclear-capable submarine-launched cruise missile (SLCM). According to some reports the submarines may be capable of carrying nuclear-armed Popeye Turbo cruise missiles, with a goal of deterring an enemy from trying to take out its nuclear weapons with a surprise attack.

Lastly, is the question of boots on the ground. The last thing Israel would want is to have to have actual troops on the ground that far from home.

The only time in history Israel ever used troops in a country that did not border their own was in 1976 during ‘Operation Thunderbolt’, later re-named ‘Operation Yonatan’ in honor of the only soldier killed, Yonatan Netanyahu, The current Prime Ministers older brother.

That operation, a counter-terrorist hostage-rescue of 102 hostages was carried out by the “Sayaret Matkal” Special Forces of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). An Air France flight was hijacked by Palestinian and German terrorists and taken to Entebbe, near Kampala, the capital of Uganda.

The distance to the Entebbe Airport in Uganda from Israel was over 2500 miles each way and to this day is considered by military experts worldwide as one the greatest military missions in history. After ‘Operation Yonatan’, the United States military developed highly trained rescue teams that were modeled on the Entebbe rescue.

Even with all the cooperation and training that the U.S. military shares with Israel and visa-versa, this current administration does not want an attack on Iran, especially by Israel.

The Wall Street Journal reported on January 14,

President Barack Obama, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and other top officials have delivered a string of private messages to Israeli leaders warning about the dire consequences of a strike.

Stepping up the pressure, Mr. Obama spoke by telephone on Thursday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and U.S. Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will meet with Israeli military officials in Tel Aviv next week.

Yes, the U.S. is so concerned over a possible attack on Iran that Obama sent General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff to meet with Israeli leaders last Thursday.

According to all reports, both American and Israeli, the Dempsey visit is an effort to convince Israel to give diplomacy and sanctions more time to stop Iran’s nuclear program. Given the latest IAEA (The International Atomic Energy Agency) report, waiting will only result in Iran achieving their goal of nuclear weapons.

As the NY Times reminded us in their article ‘U.S. General urges closer ties with Israel’ just last week,

General Dempsey told Reuters in November that Israel and the United States had different perspectives and expectations. Asked whether Israel would alert the United States ahead of time if it chose to go forward with military action, he said he did not know.

Perhaps now with his visit to Israel he can answer that question, but either way it appears that Israel will end up going it alone, as they have done since 1948.

Or should I say since the time of King David, after all, even then with the Star of David on their flag they were truly the first ‘Lone Star State’.

Allright! A great way to start the week off as 4 Taliban jihadis from Turkmenistan were taken out in their vehicle in North Waziristan, Pakistan today by a U.S. predator drone. More than likely, the four were on their way to either bomb a girls' school or behead some little old lady.

This marks just the second drone attack since the moratorium on the strikes by the U.S. about two months ago...hopefully, this will mean a slow but sure uptick in these attacks. Perhaps the fact that the Taliban executed 15 Frontier Corps troops the other day will encourage the Pakistani government to look the other way for a couple of weeks.

US drone strike kills four in North Waziristan

MIRAMSHAH: A US drone fired missiles into a vehicle, killing four militants in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region on Monday, security officials said.

The attack took place at Degan village, some 25 kilometres west of Miramshah, the main town of North Waziristan, the officials said.

“A US drone fired two missiles into a vehicle and four militants were killed,” a senior security official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Local intelligence officials said the dead militants were from Turkmenistan, but their exact identities were not immediately known.

“The vehicle burst into flames after the missiles hit. Militants have cordoned the area and (are) taking out the bodies,” a local official told AFP.

You know, the religion of "peace" never ceases to amaze...never ceases to test your imagination for the boundaries of evil....as one of the latest victims of the messengers of Mohammed is a cow in India, a symbol of the Hindu faith, that was butchered by islamists.

3 Culprits Caught After Sacred Cow Slaughtered at Hindu Temple

Kerala, India (CHAKRA) - Kunnathunadu, Kothamangalam and Muvattupuzha, three taluks of Ernakulam district experienced a shutdown on January 18th, as a result of the inhumane slaughtering of an innocent and pregnant cow. Three individuals belonging to the local Muslim community slit the cow’s throat inside the compound of the Sree Dharma Sastha.

The shutdown began after local Hindu organizations protested against the merciless act of the cow slaughtering.

After the incident, police managed to get hold of the three culprits, Muhammad 49, his son Anas 23 and another male by the name of Razid 18. Of the three one person managed to escape from police custody.

A member of the Sree Dharma Sastha Temple believes that the slaughter was performed to create tension and trouble amongst the nearby residing community rather than for meat. According to him, had the culprits wanted meat they would have simply stolen the cow rather than slaughter it in such a painful manner right in the temple premise. Based on this information, the individual believes that it was a hate crime against Hindus to stir up chaos.

As per previous police reports, the surrounding area has been subject to a rise in Islamist activity lately. Just 25 km away from the area, on July 4, 2010, activists of an extremist Muslim organization had cut off the arm of a Christian university professor alleging that he had blasphemed Prophet Muhammad in a test paper question.

The three men had approached the Hindu temple in disguise of men who had medication for the cow. Once getting into the temple where the cow was, the men barricaded the area with plastic wrap before slitting the cow’s throat and finding a Moulvi from a nearby village to chant prayers that were mandatory after the slitting of throat according to common Islamic practices.

As news spread of the atrocious act, members from nearby Hindu activist groups as well as from the Sangh Pariwar were outraged and rushed to the temple. At the same time, Muslim supporters of the killing of the cow also gathered near the Hindu temple creating a scene of tension, which could escalate to greater trouble.

Protesters gathered and the tension lasted for several hours because protestors were not allowing police to take the culprits and cow carcass away. Once the police, carcass and three individuals were out of the scene, several demonstrations were held thereafter with clashes between Hindu supporters disapproval of the slaughter and Muslim supporters justification for killing the cow in the Hindu temple premise.

It is not sure for what crimes the accused culprits will be charged for in India, but in many western nations this would constitute as a hate crime with very heavy penalties.

Pakistani Taliban Execute 15 Paramilitary Troops On Video, Warn Pakistani Military That This Fate Awaits Them

Regular readers here will remember my post up a number of days ago when the 15 paramilitary troops in Pakistan's Khyber region were captured by the Taliban and you remember that I said they would be executed and today, a video from the Taliban has been aired where that cowardly act of executing each and every one of these 15 soldiers happened in real time. During the video, the Taliban are heard chanting and warning the Pakistani military that this will be the revenge that happens again and again if the Pakistani army continues to target Taliban fighters.

Fifteen soldiers stood blindfolded, handcuffed to each other on a barren hilltop as one of their bearded Taliban captors held an AK-47 rifle and spoke with fury about revenge. He left no doubt what would come at any second.

The Taliban kidnapped the paramilitary troops on Dec 23 from near the country’s tribal areas to avenge military operations. Now they have released a video as a warning to the army.

“Twelve of our comrades were besieged and mercilessly martyred in the Khyber Agency (area),” said the militant.

The video then shows the men standing quietly. Taliban chanting can be heard. “We will cross all limits to avenge your blood,” it said, referring to fighters killed by security forces.

One of the men shoves a clip into his assault rifle and fires a few rounds into the back of the heads of a few of the soldiers. “God is greatest,” the Taliban yell.

Other fighters step up and take turns pumping bullets into the men, some wearing green military uniforms. Each time a
soldier collapses, the man standing next to him is pulled in that direction by the handcuffs.

After the shooting ends in the video, the Taliban militants stare at the bodies slumped over on the earth. “If the killing of our friends is not stopped, this will be the fate of all infidel armies, God willing,” says one militant.

And this is the kind of people that the Obama administration insists is worthy of peace talks in Afghanistan. I have said it here at Holger Awakens until I am blue in the face - there is no single group of jihadis on this planet who worship death more than the Taliban...while you and me are wired to breathe, to love, to live...these minions are wired to kill and destroy. In some states in the United States, there are some convicted of heinous crimes that it is determined there can be no rehabilitation and that their crime is so horrific that prolonging their life in prison is not ethical....well, in the world of islamic terror, there is this group called the Taliban who deserve nothing but the death sentence. We simply cannot see that the genes of this group continue to spread.

One of Britain's Muslim terrorist exports, a long time member of al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab, was snuffed out yesterday when a hellfire from an American drone turned him inside out - the strike just goes to prove that the export of islamic terror from Europe knows no geographic bounds. We have seen European Muslims fighting for the Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan, we have seen European jihadis in Somalia and Yemen.

Shabaab said that a British national and who was " from the early people who came to jihad in Somalia" was killed in a US drone airstrike. The slain operative was a senior al Qaeda leader in East Africa.

The British citizen, who was identified as Bilal al Berqawi, was "of a Lebanese origin," according to a statement released today by Shabaab's media arm, Al Kata'ib Foundation for Media Production. The statement, which was published on jihadist forums, was translated by the SITE Intelligence Group.

Berqawi "was second-in-command" to slain al Qaeda leader Fazul Mohammed, a US intelligence official who closely tracks al Qaeda in the Middle East and beyond told The Long War Journal. Fazul was the leader of al Qaeda in East Africa and a senior Shabaab commander. He was killed by Somali troops at a checkpoint on the outskirts of Mogadishu in June 2011.

Shabaab said that Berqawi was killed today, on "Saturday 28 Safar 1433H," and that he had fought in Somalia before the Islamic Courts Union, the predecessor of Shabaab, was formed.

"The martyr, may Allah have mercy on him, was from the early people who came to jihad in Somalia, where he participated in fighting with the warlords and participated in the war against the Courts and in fighting the African Crusaders," according to that statement.

"The martyr received what he wished for and what he went out for ... when, in the afternoon today, brother Bilal al-Berqawi was exposed to bombing in an outskirt of Mogadishu from a drone that is believed to be American," the statement continued.

I think this is the fascinating part of the whole jihadi movement - you have a British national of Lebanese descent who is a Muslim...and yet he finds himself in the African country of Somalia - it shows that the brainwashing of Islam is complete.

The report did not indicate where Berqawi was killed. It is unclear if the US conducted the strike. Kenyan and Ethiopian aircraft have been conducting airstrikes in Somalia.

Although US attack aircraft and drones conduct operations over Somalia, reports of strikes are difficult to confirm. The last confirmed US strike took place on June 25, 2011, when Predators attacked a training camp outside of Kismayo. Ibrahim al Afghani, a senior Shabaab commander who fought in Afghanistan and has close ties with al Qaeda, is rumored to have been killed in the attack, but the report was never confirmed. Shabaab did not release a statement announcing his death.

The US military's Joint Special Operations Command and the CIA are known to operate the armed Predators and Reapers from bases in Djibouti in the Horn of Africa, Arba Minch in Ethiopia, the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean, and a base in an unnamed country on the Arabian Peninsula. The bases are to be used to attack al Qaeda affiliates Shabaab, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, and al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

You know, why didn't Barack Hussein Obama come out with a speech many months ago and just say, "In our opinion, it's in the best interests of the Middle East and northern Africa that the Muslim Brotherhood set up rule across the region"....I mean, why didn't he just do that? The latest from Libya shows that although some rag tag bands of secularists in Libya have tried to help form a government, it is the MB that is set to win the big enchilada. From Reuters:

Western powers are coming to accept that the advent of democracy in the Arab world means bringing Islamists to power. They have become the biggest election winners in Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco over the past few months.

That last paragraph slays me...that Western countries are coming to accept that the MB will be the new rule - like that's some sort of damn surprise! Who the hell did they THINK was going to take over....the Middle East's version of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson? So now we all get to live with Islamic terrorists who have standing armies, have sophisticated weaponry and strategic positions geographically in the world.

Experts believe the Muslim Brotherhood is the most organized political force and could emerge as the leading political player in Libya after Gaddafi, who harshly suppressed Islamists during his 42 years in autocratic power.

The chairman of Libya's ruling National Transitional Council (NTC), Mustafa Abdul Jalil, promised in October to uphold Islamic law. "We as a Muslim nation have taken Islamic sharia as the source of legislation, therefore any law that contradicts the principles of Islam is legally nullified," he said.

The deputy central bank governor said last month a law regulating Islamic banking would be issued in the first quarter of 2012, but stressed that both conventional and Islamic banks would be allowed to operate in Libya.

Islamists in Algeria Square held up placards demanding a financial system respecting Islam's ban on interest and calling for a constitution derived from sharia's legal and moral codes.

"We want to run our life according to Islamic principles, be it the economy, politics or our relations with other countries," said Abdul Basit Ghuwaila, a preacher at a Tripoli mosque. "Most people think Islam is just about harsh penalties."

Ghuwaila, 49, said sharia should not govern all Libyan law, but insisted that legislation should not contradict it.

Nour al-Zintani, a participant in the month-long sit-in for a secular state, said the majority of Libyans wanted Islam to be a part of their life but not a strict interpretation of it.

"We all want sharia," she said, standing next to her teenage daughter, both of them wearing a Muslim headscarf, "but not the one they're talking about, the one that rejects women. We want a moderate Islam that gives women their rights."

Thirteen killed in Afghan violence

KABUL: At least 13 people, including five Afghan border police, a Nato soldier and two would-be suicide bombers were killed across Afghanistan Saturday, officials said.

The border guards died when their vehicle was ambushed in Gulran district of Hirat province in western Afghanistan, General Sulaiman, the commander of rapid reaction forces in the area, told AFP.

“The vehicle first hit a roadside bomb and then the militants opened fire using grenade launchers and small arms,” he said.

The Nato soldier died in an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan, the International Security Assistance Force said, without providing any further details.

Also on Saturday, a roadside bomb hit a civilian truck in Lashkar Gah, the capital city of volatile Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan, killing three civilians and wounding three others.

“They were labours going to their work in the morning when their truck hit the roadside bomb that killed three and wounded three others,” the provincial spokesman Daud Ahmadi said.

In southeastern Afghanistan, Afghan and Nato security forces shot dead four attackers attempting to target Barmal district chief office in Paktika province on Saturday, Mukhlis Afghan the provincial spokesman said.

“Two attackers had suicide vests on, but were killed before being able to detonate and two others were armed,” he said, adding that there were no other fatalities.

The east and southeastern regions of Afghanistan have been the focus of US-led coalition efforts recently, shifting from Taliban strongholds in the south towards the restive area along the border with Pakistan.

Blast kills 11 on bus in Syria, clashes elsewhere

BEIRUT: An explosion killed at least 11 people on a minibus carrying prisoners in Syria’s northwestern province of Idlib on Saturday, the opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.

The British-based group, which monitors a 10-month-old uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, gave no further details. No independent confirmation was available.

In other violence, heavy fighting broke out between the Syrian army and soldiers who have defected to join anti-Assad insurgents in an area near the border with Turkey, Al Jazeera television reported.

It gave no further details of the clashes which it said were in the city of Jisr al-Shughour.

Once again, Pakistani Taliban leader, Hakimullah Mehsud, is apparently alive after he was killed by a drone strike...once again this cat has his ninth damn life...and once again we all put up the story of his demise and have to probably retract the damn thing.

Well, speaking for myself, I won't EVER put up another story of this mutherfucker dying until I see a photo of his dead body and a copy of his DNA.

I realize we all want this guy dead and the world will be better off without him but for pete's sakes, when are the Pakistanis gonna get these reports right? Good grief.

Hakimullah still safe in North Waziristan: sources

ISLAMABAD: Hakimullah Mehsud, the top militant commander of defunct Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), is still alive and safe in some unknown location of North Waziristan, independent sources told DawnNews on Friday.

“Hakimullah is well and safe in North Waziristan… the news related to his killing in the drone attack carried out by the US military is incorrect,” an official source told this reporter.

The claim was also verified from at least two other independent sources.

The sources claimed that Hakimullah has taken a number of measures to ensure his safety and secrecy, and that he had stopped using electronic communication equipment, such as wireless sets, for the same reason.

Almost a week ago, reports quoting unknown sources mentioned intercepted radio communications between Taliban militants detailing how Hakimullah was killed.

In February 2011 similar media reports had claimed the killing of the TTP chief, however later incidents proved otherwise.

Karzai Still Complains About U.S. Troop Abuse, Says Nothing About Taliban Killing 20 of His People the Past Two Days

There used to be a time when Afghan President Hamid Karzai would play both sides of the fence in the War in Afghanistan - he would criticize supposed actions by U.S. and NATO troops and at the same time he would condemn Taliban atrocities against his people. Well, it's been one helluva long time since Karzai has played the Taliban side of the fence. I guess you could say that Karzai stopped criticizing the Taliban about the time that Barack Hussein Obama told the world exactly when U.S. troops would withdraw from Afghanistan.

Well, over the past two days, the Taliban have raised holy hell on the nation of Afghanistan and the death toll at this point is right around 20.

Taliban kill 20 Afghans in suicide attack, bombings in the south

Over the past two days, the Taliban have killed 20 Afghans, including policemen and political leaders, during suicide and roadside bomb attacks in the southern provinces of Kandahar and Helmand.

The attacks started yesterday in Helmand, where the Taliban killed 13 Afghans in two separate attacks in the districts of Kajaki and Nad Ali. In Kajaki, a suicide bomber killed nine people, including two policemen and seven civilians, in an attack at a bazaar.

The Taliban claimed credit for the Kajaki suicide attack, which they referred to as a martyr attack, in a statement released on their website, Voice of Jihad. The Taliban said the suicide bomber was named Hameedullah and came from Helmand, and they claimed that 12 ISAF troops and five Afghan "puppets," a term reserved for Afghan security forces, were killed. But no US and NATO troops were reported to have been killed or wounded in the attack. The statement also accused NATO forces of targeting Afghan civilians and warned them to stay away from NATO troops

"It should be reminded that Islamic Emirate has repeatedly warned civilians to stay away form foreign troops as the barbaric enemy troops deliberately shoot at civilians after an operation," the Taliban statement said.

In an IED attack in Nad Ali, the Taliban killed the district intelligence chief and two intelligence officers, as well as a member of the Helmand provincial council. The Taliban claimed credit for the attack.

The Taliban also claimed credit for today's suicide attack that took place outside of Kandahar Air Field, NATO's largest military base in the south. Afghan officials said that seven people, including a child and three civilians, were killed in the attack.

The Taliban claimed the suicide bomber, Ahmad from Kandahar, "rammed his explosives-laden van into the Land Cruiser convoy of foreign officials in the front gate of Kandahar airbase" and killed "12 invaders." Again, no US and NATO troops were reported to have been killed or wounded in the attack.

The Taliban continue to target local Afghan officials and security forces as part of their assassination campaign. Last week, a key district governor in Kandahar who was instrumental in getting local Taliban fighters to reconcile with the government was murdered.

Dozens of senior Afghan officials were killed last year. The most high-profile assassination occurred in Kabul, when a suicide bomber detonated explosives hidden in his turban and killed Burhanuddin Rabbani on Sept. 20, 2011. Rabbani was the leader of the Afghan High Peace Council, which has been established to negotiate with the Taliban, and also was the head of the Jamiat-e-Islami political party.

Raped teen killer needs $1.8m to escape sword

A teenage Saudi boy is facing execution unless he pays seven million Saudi riyals ($1.8 million) to the family of a friend who he murdered after the victim raped him, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Thursday.

A criminal court in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah sentenced the unnamed boy to death for stabbing his elder friend after the victim raped him at his house nearly nine months ago.

The boy told court that he was at the victim’s home when he was asked to take his clothes off. But he refused, prompting his knife-wielding friend, who is bigger in size, to force him to strip off before raping him.

Just after he finished, the victim apologized to his friend and “took oath on the Koran” that he would never do it again, Alhayat newspaper said.

But two months later, the boy was returning home late night when he found his friend waiting outside. He told his friend to go home but the man insisted on taking him to his house to have sex with him again.

The boy told court that he reminded his friend of his oath but that the victim would not listen and insisted on sleeping with him.

“He told the judge that he had no choice but to stab his friend and get rid of him to defend himself to prevent a second rape…,” the paper said without specifying the boy’s age.

“His father is now appealing for benevolent people to help him save his son as the victim’s relatives are demanding SAR7 million to pardon him.”

Under Islamic law, a convicted killer can walk free if pardon by the victim’s relatives in return for diya (blood money).

Leaders of German Al Qaeda Cell Still Hiding In Iran

This article from The Long War Journal highlights one of the real realities of trying to battle islamic terror in this world....and that reality is that there are a lot of feuding islamists in the world that will cover for their "brothers" when it comes to fighting against the infidels of the West. This is about a group of German Muslims, leaders of an al Qaeda cell whose aim was to bring Mumbai style terror attacks to Europe and when they were nearly killed in North Waziristan drone strikes, they fled to....(wait for it)....Iran.

You will see further into the article how Iran has been used by al Qaeda for years and years - did I mention how many reasons I have for the U.S. to bomb Iran?

Leaders of German al Qaeda cell living in Iran

In early October 2010, US forces launched a drone airstrike against a militant compound in North Waziristan, Pakistan. The intent of the strike was to kill members of a German al Qaeda cell that had plotted to assault European cities in a manner similar to the 2008 attacks in Mumbai, India. Jihadist web sites and news accounts indicated that some members of the cell were killed in the strike. But now, more than two years later, the cell's leaders have turned up alive -- in Iran.

The New York Times reported earlier this month that Namaan Meziche and several other members of the German al Qaeda cell are "waiting in Iran, trying to return to Europe." European intelligence officials are concerned that the cell's members pose a threat to security, however, as they received training from seasoned terrorist operatives in northern Pakistan and reportedly intended to strike multiple targets inside Europe.

Meziche, in particular, has compiled a dossier with extensive links to notorious al Qaeda operatives, including members of al Qaeda's 9/11 Hamburg cell.

Meziche's ties to Hamburg cell

"German authorities began investigating Mr. Meziche in late 2001 after they discovered telephone and email communications he maintained with suspected members of al Qaeda," the Wall Street Journal reported shortly after the October 2010 drone strike. Conspicuously, authorities discovered that Ramzi Binalshibh, the point man for al Qaeda's 9/11 plot, "placed a 34-second phone call on Sept. 5, 2001" to Meziche's home.

Meziche was reportedly close to Mohammed Atta, the lead hijacker for the 9/11 attacks. And he is also the son-in-law of a radical cleric named Mohamed al Fazazi, whose sermons and spiritual advice guided the Hamburg cell. Fazazi was subsequently jailed in Morocco for his purported role in the May 16, 2003 terrorist attacks in Casablanca. Those suicide attacks hit several targets and killed 45 people.

The Casablanca bombings were reportedly ordered by senior al Qaeda leaders living in Iran at the time. In October 2003, the Washington Post reported that Saad bin Laden, one of Osama bin Laden's heirs, was suspected of providing instructions to the Casablanca al Qaeda cell while receiving safe haven in Iran. Saad bin Laden was reportedly killed in a drone strike in 2009 after returning to Pakistan from Iran, although his death has not been confirmed by al Qaeda.

In the years that followed 9/11, European officials suspected that Meziche helped recruit fighters to wage jihad on behalf of Abu Musab al Zarqawi's al Qaeda branch in Iraq. Meziche himself was reportedly detained at some point in Syria while attempting to make his way to Iraq. Syria was a common transit route for jihadists following the American-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. Leaked State Department cables make it clear that senior officials in Bashar Assad's regime were complicit in this jihadist ratline. On occasion, European officials alerted Syrian authorities to the presence of suspected jihadists heading for Iraq, thereby leading the Syrians to detain them. It is not publicly known, however, if German officials tipped off the Syrians about Meziche's presence.

Early in 2009, Meziche and 10 other jihadist recruits left Germany for northern Pakistan in several small groups. At least some of them, perhaps all, transited Iran on their way to Pakistan. They intended to fight alongside the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), and members of the cell would later appear in IMU propaganda videos.

Whether they intended to return to Europe to launch terrorist attacks from the outset, or only came up with that plan after al Qaeda's operatives repurposed them, is not entirely clear. But in July 2010 Coalition forces captured Ahmed Sidiqi, a member of the cell, in Afghanistan. Sidiqi, who was held in custody at Bagram, divulged the details of the Mumbai-style plot, which was reportedly ordered by deceased al Qaeda master Osama bin Laden. The following month, August 2010, German authorities closed down the Taiba mosque in Hamburg after it was discovered that the mosque was once again connected to a major international terrorist plot. The mosque was previously known as the al Quds mosque and was frequented by the 9/11 suicide pilots, as well as Meziche. An imam at the Taiba mosque, both in 2001 and years later when it was closed, is a man named Mamoun Darkazanli. Darkazanli is a Syrian-German who has been suspected of serving al Qaeda since the 1990s and had close ties to the Hamburg cell. CNN reported, citing German intelligence officials after Darkazanli's mosque was closed, that both Meziche and Sidiqi are "closely acquainted" with Darkazanli.

Meziche has still other ties to the Hamburg cell, according to Der Spiegel. Sometime in mid-2010, Meziche and his fellow plotters met with Said Bahaji, who assisted Binalshibh and Atta as they prepared for the 9/11 attacks by attending to their routine matters in Germany. Bahaji went on to work for al Qaeda's propaganda wing in Pakistan.

Binalshibh's suspicious travels to Iran

It is not surprising to learn that Meziche has turned up inside Iran. Ramzi Binalshibh, Meziche's compatriot, frequently used Iran when transiting to and from Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In December 2000, as first reported by Newsweek, Binalshibh applied for a four-week visa at the Iranian Embassy in Berlin. On his handwritten application, Binalshibh checked a box indicating that the purpose of his visit was for tourism or a "pilgrimage" to one of Iran's holy sites. One question on the application asked, "If you are passing through Iran in transit have you obtained entry visa for your next country of stay?" Binalshibh replied that he had not.

The Iranians granted Binalshibh's visa request. On Jan. 31, 2001 he landed at Tehran International Airport. The German investigators who uncovered Binalshibh's trip know little about his time in Iran, but he went on to Afghanistan to meet with al Qaeda's leadership. Binalshibh did not return to Germany until nearly one month later, on Feb.28, 2001.

Six days before the 9/11 attacks, according to a 2004 account in the Chicago Tribune, Binalshibh returned to Tehran once again en route to Afghanistan. On the same day, Binalshibh placed his call to Meziche's residence in Germany.

Binalshibh was captured along with other al Qaeda operatives in Karachi, Pakistan on Sept. 11, 2002. But in the year in between the 9/11 attacks and his capture, Binalshibh spent several weeks inside Iran. Binalshibh's post-9/11 stay in Iran is discussed in a leaked Joint Task Force Guantanamo (JTF-GTMO) threat assessment.

"After the fall of Kandahar" in late 2001, the JTF-GTMO memo states, 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed "told [Binalshibh] and roughly 30 Saudis to retreat to Iran." Binalshibh "spent about six weeks in Iran" but returned to Karachi "because he learned that unidentified Iranians were seeking to arrest mujahideen (Islamic fighers) in Iran, and it was no longer considered safe there." Other senior al Qaeda operatives continued to live inside Iran, however. And some have continued to operate on Iranian soil under a "secret deal" between the Iranian government and al Qaeda. Iran's message

Anonymous US officials cited by the Times described Meziche and another member of the German al Qaeda cell living in Iran, Fatih Temelli, as "lower midlevel" al Qaeda operatives. "These two have been involved in Al Qaeda external operations activities for some time now," one US official told the Times. Both men reportedly deny any al Qaeda role.

Temelli is a member of the German Taliban Mujahideen, a group that has sought to organize Western recruits for fighting inside Afghanistan. Although he is not further identified by the Times, Temelli may in fact be Abdul Fettah al Almani, who was named the head of the German Taliban Mujahideen in 2010.

It is highly unlikely that the Iranians do not know that Meziche, Temelli, and other members of the German al Qaeda cell are living inside Iran. Meziche and Temelli communicate openly with their family members and lawyers.

"Western intelligence officials are suspicious not just of the men's intentions, but also of Iran," the Times reported. "While not directing these men, Iran appears to be harboring them in hopes that, when and if they leave, they will cause trouble in the West."

The Times also cites a French intelligence official as saying that the Iranians "are basically sending the message, we could let them travel back to Europe and they might commit attacks or to Afghanistan, where they fight against NATO." This same French official added to his interpretation of Iran's message: "They are under our control, so don't mess with us."

What's the REAL Story Between Newt Gingrich and Glenn Beck?

I need to qualify this post a little before I get into what is to me a most perplexing situation between GOP Presidential contender Newt Gingrich and Radio/TV host Glenn Beck. First off, I have not endorsed Newt Gingrich for the GOP nomination for President...in fact, I'm leaning a bit more towards Perry than anyone else. Secondly, I am not a Glenn Beck groupie NOR am I a Glenn Beck hater. I generally have liked Glenn Beck - I signed up for GBTV back when Glenn went to do the Israel special - I did cancel my subscription though when Glenn went too far and insinuated that me, as a Tea Party member who was considering Gingrich as a candidate, must be against Obama then due solely because of Obama's race.

So, most days I get to listen to the morning broadcast of Glenn Beck's radio program and it's been obvious from the day that Beck interviewed Gingrich that something just isn't right between those two. Beck was pretty rough on Gingrich in that interview and since that took place, I don't have to tell most people that Beck has been on a witchhunt against Gingrich.

Now, according to Beck, his disdain for Gingrich is because Newt is a progressive. I found that curious as I think many people might say that Gingrich is a little too fond of "big government" but I truly fail to see a link to Gingrich's being labeled a flat out "progressive." So, these attacks on Gingrich by Beck drew my attention and they have not let up over the past few weeks. It started to dawn on me that Beck's tone and rhetoric heightened when Gingrich's name came up...he seemed to get almost "emotional" about Gingrich. In fact, he sounded a little angry, a little bitter.

So here is my hypothesis. Glenn Beck's problem with Newt Gingrich is a personal one, not a political one. I am surmising that something happened between these two men in the past - I have no idea what it is or when it happened but it is becoming OBVIOUS to me that Glenn Beck simply hates Newt Gingrich, the man.

As this became more and more evident to me, I started honing in more on what seemed to be irrational takes on Gingrich by Beck. I even started to see Beck's cohosts Pat and Stu kind of back away a little from the Beck tirades - that's not to say they don't all dislike Gingrich as a candidate because they do but Beck is the one where you can tell it is PERSONAL.

All of this culminated today for me when I heard the Beck broadcast this morning. Here's the two things I heard today which still have my jaw on the ground:

1. Glenn Beck, talking to guest Rick Santorum on the show, asked Santorum who he thought was the one candidate who was favored by the GOP machine, the GOP establishment. Before Santorum could answer, Beck said that Santorum certainly wasn't and neither was Perry or Paul and then he hit the freak meter....Glenn Beck then said that he didn't think it was Romney either and that, in fact, the GOP establishment's candidate choice, their favorite is NEWT GINGRICH! I kid you not. Look up the archive of the show. Glenn Beck is not a stupid man - he knows that Newt Gingrich is not the GOP's favorite son....he knows full well it is Romney but the hatred of Gingrich is causing this recklessness in Beck. The funny part of this segment of the show is that Santorum finally was asked after all of that mind numbing insanity and Santorum kindly sad...."well, all I'll say is it isn't me!"

2. On the same show today, I believe it was Stu that brought up the possibility of Newt Gingrich getting the nomination....and with that, Glenn Beck cut in and said that he would never vote for Gingrich as the candidate....at which point both Stu and Pat jumped in and exclaimed that even though Gingrich isn't their choice, they would still vote for him over Obama....so Beck had a chance to make the correction at that point and Beck did not. At that point in time Beck said THAT HE WOULD VOTE 3RD PARTY BEFORE HE WOULD VOTE FOR GINGRICH. He even conceded that his actions would probably give the Presidency back to Obama.

I don't know what Gingrich did to Beck - I don't know if he stiffed Beck on an interview, if Gingrich said some nasties about Glenn, if Newt ran over Glenn's dog or what....but it has to be something MAJOR for Glenn Beck to admit he'd be willing to see Barack Hussein Obama win reelection. All I know is I would love to know what in the hell went down between these two men.

Once again the Obama regime fails to provide sound energy and job programs. Instead of looking to our neighbor to the north, Canada and their oil sands for some energy independence (From Muslim oil), he will be cancelling the Keystone Pipeline. A project that will bring 100,000 jobs (20,000 Shovel-ready.).

The State Department will announce the decision on Keystone XL pipeline is "no," as early as Wednesday, an industry source told Fox News, suggesting that the department will say 60 days is inadequate time to do the required environmental impact assessment on the path of the coveted pipeline.

For three years, the State Department has been reviewing the initial proposal to run a pipeline from Canada down to Texas through a sensitive Nebraska aquifer -- authority it has because of the transnational path the route takes. The pipeline had been through several other federal, state and local approvals, but the department backed away from signing off on the plan last year after environmentalists complained.

Industry workers and Republicans contend the project would create thousands of jobs, and Canada's prime minister has warned if the U.S. can't get on board, the North American nation will look to team with China.

"Unfortunately Prime Minister Harper of Canada just this week said because of the volatile indecisiveness on the part of this president, that they feel they are being held hostage and they will take their energy elsewhere specifically to Asia and China," Jack Gerard, president and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute, told Fox News Radio.

In December, Congress attached to the payroll tax cut a deadline of 60 days for the State Department to determine approval for an alternative route. A spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner pointed out that the legislation doesn't permit the State Department to reject the plan, only President Obama. The language says if he rejects the pipeline, Obama must then issue a report to Congress "that provides a justification for determination, including consideration of economic, employment, energy security, foreign policy, trade and environmental factors."

On Tuesday, Obama's own jobs council suggested that it agrees with the pipeline concept. While not specifically mentioning Keystone in a report out Tuesday about improving competitiveness, the council said that when it comes to energy projects in general, the government needs to "expeditiously, though cautiously, move forward on projects that can support hundreds of thousands of jobs."

"We think this all-in energy strategy can create significant economic growths and significant job creation," said Lewis Hay, NextEra Energy CEO and a member of the president's job council.

Obama has noted his environmental concerns when it comes to energy exploration but insisted Tuesday that a balance could be found.

"I think the recommendations are sound. We see enormous potential in production of traditional fossil fuels," he said without mentioning Keystone.

As oil prices rose Wednesday on fresh signs the U.S. economy was improving, which could lead to stronger demand for gasoline and other energy products, the Natural Resources Defense Council, an environmental group, argued that the pipeline doesn't make the U.S. anymore energy secure just because it would get oil from a close neighbor and friend.

Instead of carrying common crude oil, the Keystone XL pipeline would carry thick, toxic bitumen for refining in the Gulf states, effectively transporting pollution from Canada to the United States," reads the NRDC report..

"It is not in the national interest to lock the United States into supporting an expensive and dirty form of oil for many years to come. Also, additional capacity for tar sands oil perpetuates America's addiction to oil, and undermines the clean energy alternatives that would bring genuine energy security," the NRDC report continues.

But Gerard said the president's refusal to approve the pipeline is a "clear abdication of leadership." House Speaker John Boehner also accused the president of trying to put off a politically difficult decision until after the election.

"This is not good for our country," Boehner said. "The president wants to put this off until it's convenient for him to make a decision. ... The president's got an opportunity to create 100,000 new jobs almost immediately. The president should say yes."

Afghan Creates World's Largest Qur’an

KABUL – An Afghan calligrapher has created the world’s biggest Qur’an in an effort to show the rich cultural heritage of his war-torn country.

"The cultural center is proud that it provided this opportunity for an Afghan artist to actually show his talent to the world,” calligrapher Mohammad Sabir Khedri told Reuters Tuesday, January 27.

“We have Afghan people who show the positive aspect of Islam."

Khedri worked for five years with nine students to create the world’s biggest copy of the Noble Qur’an.

The lavish book has pages 2.28 meters (90 inches) by 1.55 meters (61 inches) in size.

The previous claim to the title was for a 2 meter by 1.5 meter copy unveiled last year in Russia's Tatarstan region.

It also weighs 500 kg (1,100 lb) and its 218 pages of cloth and paper, bound inside an embossed leather cover made from the skins of 21 goats, cost half a million dollars to create.

Though the design was finished in 2009, it was not unveiled by the calligrapher until the room that would house it was completed.

The design of the new copy, which will be housed in the Kabul cultural center, combines gold script with millions of tiny colorful dots, forming highly symbolic decorations around the giant pages.

"I wanted to use as many tasteful colors as possible to make this holy book look beautiful," he said, standing beside his enormous creation in a room built specially to house it.

Fulfilled Dream

Designing the world’s largest Qur’an was always a dream for calligrapher Khedri.

"Writing the Qur’an is one privilege,” he said.

“And...of course if you can make the biggest Qur’an everyone wants to do it, because they want to show the feeling they have, the biggest feeling inside their heart.”

The giant Qur’an will be housed in the Kabul cultural center, which was originally founded in the 1980s, and once home to 50,000 books, a medical center, and schools for Afghan crafts such as carpet weaving.

All of that was destroyed in during the civil war that followed the 1989 withdrawal of Soviet troops, and the Taliban rule from 1996.

But its founder revived the center after the 2001 Taliban ouster by the US invasion and his daughter -- member of parliament Farkhunda Zahra Naderi -- now also helps support its work and manages a much smaller library.

Though he now has the world’s biggest Qur’an, Khedri does not mind ceding his moment in the spotlight to an even larger Muslim holy book made by someone else.
"I will be happier if someone else makes a bigger Qur’an, it is serving Islam," he said with a smile.

There really is no mystery what is really going on in many of America's mosques but until this article, a lot of it hasn't been documented. Muslim Children in America are Being Taught to Hate

In the last five years I have personally visited over 250 Islamic Centers, Mosques, and Islamic Schools throughout America. The goal of my research has been to determine what Islamic leaders are teaching the young and innocent Muslim children. The findings are abhorrent, sad, unbelievable, frightening, and most disturbing is the fact our government is keeping this dangerous fact from the American people. Muslim children attending mosques and Islamic schools are being taught to hate America, our government, our military personnel, and its non Muslim population. In this article I will identify three significant mosques in America that are leading the way in teaching Muslim children to hate and to influence them to commit violent acts inside our country.

In America we have been programmed by the media and political leaders to believe violent teachings of Islam are only being taught to children in Palestine. We have watched the Muslim Palestinian children spew their taught hatred of the Israelis. What Americans are not being shown (due to political correctness) are that Muslim children throughout the world and specifically inside America are being taught violence and hatred in mosques, Islamic schools and Islamic Centers.

Children as young as 7 years old are being taught that to assimilate with America is to disrespect and dishonor Islam. They are being taught our military personnel are the enemies of Islam and it is justifiable to kill anyone who dishonors or oppresses the Islamic ideology.

During my research I have identified numerous mosques that are teaching young Muslim children to hate America and are leading them to commit future violent acts against our country and innocent people. I would like to focus on three such mosques. They are:

Dar al Hijrah, Falls Church, VA
Al Farooq, Nashville, TN
At Taqwa, Brooklyn, NY

My researchers and I spent several weeks at the Dar Al Hijrah mosque in Falls Church, VA. Almost immediately we were informed to obtain our study material from the Halaco Bookstore which is located nearby the mosque. It was very apparent upon entering the store and reviewing the materials that the bookstore provides materials for the Sunni (Wahhabi) Muslim population across the U.S. and specifically for Dar Al Hijrah. I was able to spend many hours talking with store personnel and was invited to the home of one employee to discuss Islamic issues. There is a large section in the store dedicated to the education of the Muslim children. I discovered materials that are being sent to Islamic schools across America. Much of the material deals with Sharia and Jihad. One of the DVD’s and books I obtained was by an Islamic scholar Ahmad Sakr. Sakr travels the U.S. visiting Islamic schools and educates them in Sharia law. I have watched one of his videos in which he tells the young children our government is evil and not to follow the laws of our country and Americas government leaders will all go to hell.

The material provided by Dar Al Hijrah and their selected Islamic bookstore also was filled with violent Jihad. There were manuals informing the readers how to destroy America and how to kill anyone who oppresses Islam. They are told how to obtain weapons to include weapons of mass destruction. Although all of the above is very disturbing and should (and actually is) against the law, the Muslim leaders of Falls Church, Val are allowed by our government to indoctrinate the Muslim children into future violence against our country. The next mosque (Al Farooq/Nashville, TN) is even more disturbing.

My research team and I spent two weeks at the Al Farooq mosque in Nashville, TN. The mosque was Sunni and had the typical violent books and DVD’s/videos pertaining to the overthrow of any government system that oppresses Islam. They also had numerous teachings from current Islamic leaders operating in America who are teaching the Muslim population to hate our country and its people. Although this should frighten all concerned citizens, there was even sadder and disturbing intelligence collected at this mosque. Lately we have all read about the child brides and forced marriages in Afghanistan and in Saudi Arabia. What most Americans do not realize is that child marriages are occurring throughout our country and specifically in Nashville, TN.

One young 7 year old Muslim girl at Al Farooq talked to our researcher about being beaten (MP3 file) by her Islamic leaders and being married (MP3 file) to a Muslim man. I reported the matter to the Nashville authorities but almost from the beginning they were reluctant to intercede because this was a religious institution and more importantly to them it was Islamic. Senior law enforcement authorities of the Nashville police department informed me they were afraid of being sued by Islamic organizations such as CAIR if they got involved and it would be a political nightmare to get anything done at the mosque. What bothered me most of all is the fact I contacted Islamic organizations to help this innocent Muslim child and they also balked. This reinforced to me that Islamic law (Sharia) is alive and very active inside our country, to include child marriages. The next mosque I am going to discuss is led by an Islamic leader I have previously described as the most dangerous man in America.

At Taqwa mosque in Brooklyn, NY is led by an Islamic scholar who is not only a major fundraiser for CAIR (terrorist supporter) but travels throughout the U.S. teaching his violent ideology of Islam. He is Imam Siraj Wahhaj. For those who have never visited the Islamic district of Brooklyn it would come to a surprise to many that the area around At Taqwa is similar to the Wahhabi land of Saudi Arabia. I have previously described Wahhaj as the most dangerous man in America. I have reviewed hundreds of his Friday (Juma) mosque lectures.

In this speech (MP3) he tells his followers that around the world Muslims will wake up and say

“I don’t want to follow the way of the colonial masters any more. I want the Sharia. I want Islam. We want to be ruled by Islam. And all we have to do is go back to that golden generation.”

He routinely called America an evil country and is a strong leader in developing Sharia law inside our country. His violent lectures are available to the adult and child Muslims throughout America.

"Those who struggle for Allah, it doesn't matter what kind of weapons, I'm telling you it doesn't matter! You don't need nuclear weapons or even guns! If you have faith in Allah and a knife!! If Allah wants you to win, you will win! Because Allah is the only one who fights. And when his hand is over your hand. whoever is at war against my friends, I declare war on them."

Islamic teachings such as this are what led the Major Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood Murderer, to commit his acts.

Although I have only focused on three mosques that lead the way, introducing Muslim children to violence and hatred, there are hundreds scattered across the U.S. Few states are immune from this growing threat. The violence spewed by these Islamic leaders will ultimately lead to more violence in the name of Islam. I have witnessed firsthand the violence being taught. There are numerous such Islamic centers in NC, FL, VA, NY, and CA.

Unless Muslim parents decry the violent teachings of Islam to their children, there will continue to be more and more Siraj Wahhaj type Islamic leaders in America. The ultimate result will be the suffering of our country as we now see in France, Britain, and Canada.

A government-appointed committee is set to make recommendations that will allow police and judges in Norway to wear clothing and personal effects with religious overtones, including the Muslim hijab, The Local said.

Tasked with setting out a new religious affairs policy, the committee believes that religious symbols like the hijab and the Christian cross should be granted a place in Norwegian public life, Christian newspaper Vårt Land reports.

“We need to be able to tolerate being exposed to other people’s religion, whether we meet an imam in a hospital corridor or a police officer with a hijab,” one committee member told the newspaper.

Another member confirmed the committee’s stance.

“Based on discussions with the committee, I am convinced that it will be possible to combine religious headgear with judges’ robes and police uniforms.”

You know what this is, don't you? This is the Norwegian officials paying ransom...they honestly believe that by allowing the Islamists in their country this little payback, they will be good little Norwegian citizens and not cause trouble. Yeah right. Give em an inch, they'll take 10 miles is what I always say and unfortunately for these stupid Norwegians, they'll have to find out for themselves.

Lemme see for a second here...let's say you are the owner of a business in Oslo and one of the employees you fired because she wouldn't abide by your dress code rules for the business you own is taking you to court for unlawful termination and as you wait in court, here comes the judge into the courtroom wearing a hijab.

Once again, we see evidence that Muslims who have immigrated to Britain simply must demand that British society conform to their Muslim ways. A group of Muslims are on trial in Britain for inciting hatred towards gays when they handed out literature calling for the literal hanging of homosexuals in British society. Apparently, the literature handed out by these men didn't mention any disgust with the behavior of a middle aged man marrying and having sex with a nine year old girl.

'I was doing my duty as a Muslim,' says father who handed out leaflets saying gay people should be hanged

A father has told a court he was only doing his duty as a Muslim by handing out leaflets calling for gay people to be executed.

Kabir Ahmed, 28, said he handed a leaflet called Death Penalty? to a policeman and stuffed them through letterboxes across Derby because he was spreading the word of God as taught by Islam.

He said: 'My intention was to do my duty as a Muslim, to inform people of God’s word and to give the message on what God says about homosexuality.'

Married Ahmed, who has a nine-month-old daughter, is on trial with four other men at Derby Crown Court charged with inciting hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation, the first prosecution of its kind since legislation came into force in March 2010.

At the opening of the trial last week jurors were shown the Death Penalty? leaflet, which shows an image of a mannequin hanging from a noose and says that homosexuality is punishable by the death penalty under Islam.

The leaflet states: 'The death sentence is the only way this immoral crime can be erased from corrupting society and act as a deterrent for any other ill person who is remotely inclined in this bent way.'

It goes on: 'The only dispute amongst the classical authorities was the method employed in carrying out the penal code,' and then goes on to offer burning, being flung from a high point such as a mountain or building, or being stoned to death as suitable methods.

Giving evidence today Ahmed, wearing a pair of grey trousers and a black shirt, said he had handed one of the Death Penalty? leaflets to PC Stephen Gregory on July 2 2010 as he was passing by the area of the Jamia Mosque in Rosehill Street following Friday prayers.

He told the court he felt it was his duty as a Muslim to inform and advise people wherever they may be committing sins, he would be failing if he did not.

'My duty is not just to better myself but to try and better the society I live in,' he said.

'We believe we can’t just stand by and watch somebody commit a sin, we must try and advise them and urge them to stay away from sin.'

Ahmed said he had studied the texts of many religions including the Bible and the Torah and used ideas from each to compare with what Islam says about things such as drugs, alcohol, prostitution and relationships.

Ahmed’s barrister Zacharias Miah asked him if PC Gregory had told him he was doing something wrong would he have handed over the bag of leaflets he was carrying and Ahmed replied: 'Of course, without a shadow of a doubt.'

Prosecutor Bobbie Cheema told the court the Death Penalty? leaflet was not educational or informative but was simply 'threatening, offensive, frightening and nasty.'

Four other Derby men - Ihjaz Ali, 42, Mehboob Hussain, 45, Umar Javed, 38, and his brother Razwan Javed, 28, of Wilfred Street - are also charged with the same offence.

All five men deny the charges.

Let's face it - there is nothing more patient in this world (and some would say, persistent) than a Muslim ideologue. And so, as I run into individuals who scoff at my alarm at the movement towards Sharia Law taking hold in America, I will hope that they will read this story from Family Security Matters which discusses the whole idea of "gradualism."

The Islamists, especially the Muslim Brotherhood, have always worked in stages. In December, the Brotherhood’s Supreme Guide, Mohamed Badi, outlined six phases: Sharia over the individual; Sharia over the family; Sharia over the society; Sharia over the government; the resurrection of the Caliphate and finally, “mastership of the world.” The Muslim Brotherhood is in the process of completing the fourth phase in Egypt.

Probably the best example of this slow, steady plodding strategy is that of the Muslim Brotherhood - their steadfast belief in a slow and almost undetectable rise in power and influence is epitomized in their refrain from open violence or violent jihad. They have pulled this off to such an extent that we see our very own President including Muslim Brotherhood-linked individuals in his inner circle and we saw how a duped MainStreamMedia fell in love with the idea of a non-violent Arab Spring.

The Muslim Brotherhood is smart. They realize that a generation like mine will fight Sharia....that we are too involved in the real pain of 9/11...that we remember things like the U.S.S. Cole and that we also understand the takeover of Europe. So what the Muslim Brotherhood counts on is the next American generation....the ones who are too young to really embrace the previous and the ones who have been indoctrinated to multiculturalism. That's why educating our youth is so vital. That is why America must set up its defenses now.

In this stage, the Islamists implement Sharia by describing it as their form of “democracy” and “freedom.” They will argue that each democracy is different and so we must be tolerant of their version. Sheikh Qaradawi explains, “What I am for is a genuine type of democracy, for a society driven by the laws of Sharia that is compatible with the values of freedom, human rights, justice and equity.”

Qaradawi admits that “our democracy is different.” Secular democracy like that in the West does not honor God and is immoral. “Democracy itself also can make what it wants as lawful, or prohibit anything it does not like. In comparison, the Sharia as a political system has limits. If we are to adopt democracy, we should adopt its best features.”

As far back as 1982, the Muslim Brotherhood had drawn up a 12-point strategy to “establish an Islamic government on earth.” It was discovered when the Swiss authorities raided the home of Yousef Nada in 2001 and is referred to as "The Project."

The document says to exercise “flexibility at the local level” and “to reconcile political engagement and the necessity of avoiding isolation on one hand, with permanent education and institutional action on the other.” It calls for “controlling the local centers of power through institutional action” and to build alliances with other Islamic groups even if there are disagreements. It supports “temporary cooperation” with non-Muslim groups that are anti-Israel and “struggle against colonialism.”

The strategy document says the worldwide Brotherhood must “support movements engaged in jihad across the Muslim world” but “should not look for confrontation with our adversaries, at the local or the global scale, which would be disproportionate and could lead to attacks.” It talks of constructive “self-criticism” and using the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to further its strategy, “since it acts as the keystone of the renaissance of the Arab world today.” In other words, use the conflict to radicalize the masses.

Hamas, a wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, also acts in accordance with gradualism. In December, the leader of Hamas stated that it was working towards the “interim objective of liberation of Gaza, the West Bank, or Jerusalem.” The destruction of Israel, or in the Islamists’ words, the “liberation of all Palestine,” follows.

Wherever the Muslim Brotherhood and similar Islamists operate, there is a phased strategy—even in the United States. The Islamic Circle of North America, one of the most powerful Muslim-American groups in the U.S., explained its five phases in its handbook published in 2010 and it very closely follows what Badie said in Egypt. The phases are: Educating yourself; Converting your family; Outreach into the community; “establish an Islamic society” on the state level and then a “united Islamic state, governed by an elected khalifah in accordance with the laws of Sharia.”

An FBI memo written in 1988 likewise documented that a source, apparently within the ranks of the Muslim Brotherhood in the U.S., described a six-phased plan. At the time, the Muslim Brotherhood, specifically the International Institute of Islamic Thought and the North American Islamic Trust, were working on the first phase. It included creating “political action front groups with no traceable ties” so that it can “peacefully get inside the United States government and also American universities.” The source told the FBI that Brotherhood operatives “claimed success infiltrating the United States government.”

In 2004, the FBI found seized another Brotherhood strategy document that describes its “work in America as a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying Western civilization within.” It describes 5 phases:

· The “secret establishment of leadership”
· “…gradual appearance on the public scene.” This phase calls for “infiltrating various sectors of government,” “gaining religious institutions,” “gaining public support and sympathy,” and “establishing a shadow government.”
· “Escalation phase.” This focuses on “utilizing mass media” and the document says that this stage is “currently in progress.” Unfortunately, we do not know when this was written.
· “Open confrontation with the government through…political pressure.” It also calls for “training on the use of weapons domestically” and says that there are “noticeable activities in this regard.” Could this have something to do with the Jamaat ul-Fuqra training camps on American soil?
· The final phase: “Seizing power to establish their Islamic Nation under which all parties and Islamic groups are united.”

The Islamists have a comprehensive long-term strategy for victory that’s been around for decades. It’s about time that we made one of our own.

You pee for us all, Marine.

This has to do with the video that popped up yesterday. It’s 40 seconds, and it shows four Marines standing above the bodies of some dead Taliban.

Peeing on them.

“Have a great day, buddy,” one of the Marines says to the corpse at his feet.

Let’s review.

America is at war with militant Islam. In Afghanistan, the Taliban is militant Islam. In Afghanistan, the Taliban gave refuge and support to Al Qaeda as it prepared the attacks of September 11. In Afghanistan, the Taliban works around the clock to put American servicemen in their graves.

The Taliban is the bad guys.

And the United States Marines are the good guys.

And this is much ado about nothing.

Because the brass are crapping their pants.

“This is egregious, disgusting behavior,” said Pentagon spokesman Capt. John Kirby. “It turned my stomach.”

Kirby’s branch of the service is not listed, but I’m guessing it’s Girl Scouts.

It turned his stomach?

We are a nation at war. We’ve had thousands of Americans die. We’ve brought hundreds of thousands home with losses of limb and mind, and THIS turns his stomach?

That’s not exactly a warrior spirit.

And it makes you wish that men like those urinating Marines were running this operation.

But they are not.

And they will be crucified.

Because our military establishment specializes in throwing young GIs under the bus. Any number of desk jockeys and political generals are glad to backstab as many warriors as they can. In the White House and at the Pentagon, the god of political correctness is fed with the frequent sacrifice of young soldiers’ careers.

You send people to war, but heaven help them if they act like it. Hamstrung by Marquis of Queensbury rules in a bar fight with savages, our GIs are attacked by enemy fighters on one side and government lawyers on the other.

It’s a funny game where no one has their back.

Except the American people.

Which gets me back to my point.

You pee for us all, Marine.

That group of Camp Lejeune snipers is condemned by the political generals, but embraced by the American people.

Because that’s what you get when you screw with the United States of America. You get a bullet through the brainpan, and we’re going to line up to spit on the pieces.

Unless we have a full bladder.

And show the YouTube far and wide, as a warning to your pals. This is what it means to mess with America. The pantywaists in the Pentagon might want to win your hearts and minds, but the men pulling the triggers want to snap your freaking necks.

And some 310 million real Americans feel the same way. Mess with the best, die like the rest. The sooner the better, the more the merrier, and don’t be surprised if it’s not holy water you get sprinkled with.

Real people aren’t bothered by this.

Real people believe this is how war should be fought.

Real people think that we’ve pussyfooted around long enough, it’s time to make the rubble bounce. Pull the B52s out of the barn and let’s light those mo-fos up.

And real people are sick and tired of the feigned indignation coming out of the Pentagon and White House. Life is not group therapy and war is not run by “Robert Rules of Order.” War is where you kill people and break the will of a society.

War is where you make the other guy cry “Uncle.”

Ask the people of Hiroshima and Dresden.

Or Atlanta, for that matter.

You attack the United States and you die. You die ugly. There are only two sure winners – us and the maggots. And any people, nation or religion that can’t stand that heat should stay the hell out of the kitchen.

So if you don’t want to be blown to bits and pieces, and pissed on by fine examples of American manhood, then you better stay home with mama. You better lay off the jihad. You better learn some manners and mind your Ps and Qs.

Because Lady Liberty is shaking her fist.

And that’s not just some words in a song.

That’s our pledge.

We’re going to kill you, and we’re going to cheer the men who do it.

And the rest of you goat-bearded savages better shake in your sandals, because those Marines pee for us.

And they’re coming for you next.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula Captures Yet Another Yemeni Town

Things are looking dire in Yemen as al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula continues to push forward and has captured another town. Remember, back during the latter stages of the Iraq War when things were not looking good for al Qaeda then, al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda's #2 leader at the time called for jihadis from all over to head for Yemen. They saw way back then that Yemen could be taken by their forces and what we are seeing now is a very real chance of that happening.

It's been a perfect storm in Yemen...a very unpopular leader of the country, a rebel group of Shias in the country trying to annex the south and literally an intervention into the fighting by Saudi Arabia...the perfect kind of chaos for al Qaeda to get in the middle of and start taking control.

This presents a nightmare for America...now, I'm sure that Ron Paul would be explicit that we need to completely stay out of the internal affairs of Yemen but look at the map above and explain to me that the U.S. and our interests would not be adversely affected by an al Qaeda regime running Yemen.

AQAP fighters seize control of Yemeni town, swear allegiance to Zawahiri

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has taken control of yet another major town in Yemen. The AQAP fighters are led by the brother-in-law of Anwar al Awlaki, and they have sworn allegiance to Ayman al Zawahiri, the leader of al Qaeda.

An AQAP force, led by Tareq al Dahab, entered the town of Rada'a in Baydah province on Saturday night and laid siege to the police station and other government buildings, according to Reuters. Two policemen were killed in the assault.

"Al Qaeda has raised its flag over the citadel," a resident in Rada'a told Reuters. "Its members have spread out across the town's neighborhoods after pledging allegiance to Ayman al Zawahri during evening prayers (on Sunday)."

Dahab, the leader of the AQAP force that took control of Rada'a, is a brother-in-law of Anwar al Awlaki, the American citizen who served as a senior cleric and operational commander for AQAP before he was killed in a US drone strike in August 2011. Dahab was recently transferred to Yemen from Syria, which had captured him while he was attempting to enter Iraq, according to Reuters. It is unclear if Yemeni authorities released him or if he escaped from a Yemeni prison.

AQAP expands area of control in southern Yemen

Rada'a, a town of 60,000 people which is just 100 miles south of the capital of Sana'a, is the latest population center to fall to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

AQAP took control of Zinjibar, the provincial capital of Abyan, in May 2011. The terror group has battled government forces to a standstill in Zinjibar. Three Yemeni Army brigades - one infantry, one mechanized, and one armored - are involved in the fighting in Zinjibar.

The cities of Al Koud, Ja'ar, Shaqra, and Rawdah in Abyan are currently run by AQAP. The terror group also controls Azzan in Shabwa province.

Background on AQAP and Ansar al Sharia

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has been fighting under the banner of the Ansar al Sharia, or the Army of Islamic law. Ansar al Sharia constitutes "AQAP's version of the Islamic State of Iraq," which is al Qaeda's political and military front in Iraq, a senior US intelligence official told The Long War Journal last year.

"Ansar al Sharia is pulling in allied Islamist groups and sympathetic tribes into its orbit, and seeks to implement an Islamic State much like the Taliban did in Afghanistan and al Qaeda attempted in Iraq," the official said.

In an official statement released by Ansar al Sharia in May 2011, the group said it wishes to take control of "all administrative, political, economic, cultural, monitoring, and other responsibilities" in Yemen.

AQAP is seeking to build an army to back up its Islamic state. In 2010, Qasim al Raymi, the military commander for al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, and Mohammed Said al Umdah Gharib al T'aizzi, a senior AQAP military commander in southern Yemen, both claimed that the terror group had raised a 12,000-fighter-strong army in the southern Yemeni provinces. Yemeni officials recently told Al Hayah that "al Qaeda fighters in Zinjibar (the capital of Abyan) number in the hundreds, and perhaps exceed 2,000 gunmen."

The terror group continues to use al Qaeda's tactic of suicide bombings. In August 2011, Ansar al Sharia released a videotape of a suicide bomber attacking a Yemeni armored column as it traveled from Aden to Zinjibar.

AQAP has taken advantage of the political turmoil in Yemen to seize control of vast areas of the Yemeni south. Since the onset of large anti-government protests in March 2011, AQAP has openly taken control of areas in Abyan, Shabwah, Hadramawt, Marib, and Lahj provinces. Government forces have withdrawn from several major cities in the south, leaving an opening for al Qaeda and allied Islamist groups to seize control of several areas. Yemenis have described the southern port city of Aden as ripe for an AQAP takeover.

The US in turn was taking advantage of the security vacuum in Yemen to step up attacks against AQAP's top leaders and its network. The US killed two American AQAP propagandists, Anwar al Awlaki and Samir Khan, in a Predator airstrike in September 2011, and targeted AQAP emir Nasir al Wuhayshi and media emir Ibrahim al Bana. Wuhayshi and al Bana are believed to have survived the strikes.

The drone program in Yemen was put on hold in October 2011 after Anwar al Awlaki's son, Abdul Rahman, was killed in an airstrike that targeted al Bana. Abdul Rahman was a 16-year-old American citizen who had said he hoped "to attain martyrdom as my father attained it" just hours before he was killed, according to a Yemeni journalist.

America's Turncoat Media Delights In Attacking U.S. Marines Over Pissing Incident

This is an excellent article from over at Family Security Matters that puts everything into perspective over the video showing U.S. Marines pissing on dead Taliban carcasses....it doesn't pull any punches in pointing a big middle finger at the media in America. Let's face it...we have Ivy League academics in the media who sit around all year long just waiting for a story like this - they detest the order and honor and valor of the military and use this kind of incident to try and defile all of those that serve our country. These are the same media that PRAISE a civilian shitting on a police car during an OWS protest. These are the same media that IGNORE the honor killings by Islamic men right in our very own country. These are the same media spent more time covering Abu Gharib in Iraq than on the recipients of the Medal of the Honor in the past five years.

I, for one, am thoroughly sick and tired of the hypocrisy of the American media - their little liberal snarky attitudes and cheap shots reflect their feeble political ideology rather than reflect any sort of journalistic integrity. We must remember one thing - in the heat of an attack on America, they would be the first of the chickenshits to hide behind the nearest U.S. Marine and cry for that Marine to save their bony little Liberal ass. Fucking pukes.

Dumb Marines, Delighted Media

A few Marines in Afghanistan did a really dumb thing: They emptied their “short arms” on a trio of Taliban corpses. The act was unacceptable. It was against military regulations and constituted a minor—very minor—infringement of the Geneva Convention. Those Marines showed terrible judgment and should receive appropriate “non-judicial punishment” that will impact their careers. If a non-commissioned officer was involved, his career should end.

But that’s all, folks. This was not an atrocity. No terrorists were harmed in the making of that video. Defiling enemy corpses is wrong, but it’s not murder, torture, rape or any other crime against a living human being. Nonetheless politically correct Washington went into manic-panic mode the moment the news broke about that video. Everybody, from the secretary of defense and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs on down rushed to issue public apologies. A high-level investigation (aka “witch hunt”) has been ordered, but the decision’s already been made to hang those Marines and their chain of command. Our military just bent over: Not a word about how remarkably honorable and disciplined hundreds of thousands of our troops have been, and not a word about the Taliban’s very real atrocities.

Of course, President Karzai of Afghanistan condemned the leaky-Marines video as monstrous. He’s mum on Taliban massacres, suicide bombings and torture, though. Our own administration’s fear was that the literal pissing contest would derail the negotiations all the president’s men have begged the Taliban to enter into so we can have “peace with honor” and get out of Saigon. Sorry: I meant “Kabul.”

But the most grotesque and reprehensible behavior has been that of our own media. I’ve been stunned: Cynical though I am about many journalists and pseudo-journalists, I really didn’t think so many of them hated and despised our men and women in uniform so deeply at this point.

What I’ve seen and heard has been near-orgasmic delight in the opportunity to tear down our troops. The establishment media has reported this inexcusable, but decidedly minor incident as if it were a repeat of Vietnam’s My Lai massacre—if not of Nazi atrocities or the Holocaust entire. Nowhere on broadcast or cable television did I hear anyone put the incident into perspective and say, “Sometimes grunts do dumb stuff. The real story is how few such incidents there have been, how amazingly disciplined our troops are.”

Please consider a couple of things:

First, this urination-euphoria in the media has been covered more enthusiastically and with far more airtime than any act of military heroism in a decade of wars. The only time the media cover a heroic act by a soldier or Marine is when President Obama personally presents a medal and the White House press corps can focus on his role as “noble” commander-in-chief. Of course, homeless vets get some attention as a backdoor way to attack the military, and amputation stories meant to discourage enlistment are always big, but how many stories have you seen, heard or read about the amazing discipline of our troops under the grinding stresses of this kind of warfare? For all the media’s determination to show that our Soldiers and Marines are really a combination of rednecks and SS butchers, you can count the verified incidents of U.S. atrocities from two grueling conflicts on one hand—and that includes Abu Ghraib (the civilian-wrought atrocities by the civilian mercenaries our government hired are another matter).

And every atrocity charge against our troops has involved low-level actions by a handful of junior personnel. Contrary to the implications of leftwing propaganda, bad behavior has never been policy—not even at the platoon level. And guess what, folks? When you’ve got 100k to 150k troops on the ground, a few sociopaths or even psychopaths are going to pop up, no matter how thorough the vetting process and rigorous our discipline. That’s humanity. After all, the left’s darling of the moment, the traitorous and infinitely creepy PFC Bradley Manning, made it through. Of course, he has the media’s sympathy for betraying our country. Those combat Marines who risked their lives to fight the Taliban are going to be crucified, though.

In historical terms, the good comportment and discipline of our troops in our recent wars has been unprecedented. Well over a million service members rotated through Iraq and Afghanistan over the last decade—and the best the media can come up with to discredit them is a (literally) dumb-dick video of three or four Marines inappropriately celebrating a small victory over a savage enemy.

In thousands of years of recorded history, wars in which different civilizations collide and wars involving different racial or religious groups consistently have been the most brutal, strewn with appalling atrocities. We’ve defied the historical record. To a serious student of military history, the behavior of our troops in these wars has been astounding in its moral rigor and humanity—if anything, we’ve been too gentle too much of the time.

But the media care nothing for that. At last, they have another opportunity to portray our troops as sick thugs. And they’re reveling in it. Because the establishment media remain left-of-center in their biases, and the American left still hates our military. Oh, leftists have figured out that they can’t attack it head-on anymore and even that it pays to pretend to honor the troops now and then. But the left hates, despises and fears those who volunteer to defend them and their freedoms. Aging lefties—many now at executive levels in the media, or in honored emeritus situations—had their glory days during the Vietnam War. They were able to portray themselves as heroes then, and we, the people, allowed ourselves to be gulled. Journalists became the story, with our troops as background color. An ill-managed war played into their hands, along with a ragged draft-era military.

Now we have a professional, volunteer force with unprecedented skills and solid discipline. It’s been terribly frustrating for reporters, who’ve been limited to explaining why they’re smarter than the occasional “real” general who actually tries to fight. Worse, the ambitious, media-adept generals have been able to con the media with politically correct nonsense, and some of the reporters and commentators are beginning to realize they were taken in. And they’re angry. On top of all that comes the Freudian fear that the pallid-professor type feels when he imagines a muscular warrior: It reminds me of that classic scene in the R&B bar in Animal House when Flounder cries, “The Negroes took our dates!” Those who never wore the uniform, but are consumed by intellectual vanity, fear that the Soldiers are going to take their dates (and we do). So the symbolism of those Marines waving their privates was all too perfect. Where’s Dr. Freud when we need him?

Let’s see how long the media continue to celebrate and exaggerate one stupid act by a couple of Marines. And let’s see if a single active-duty general has the decency to say, “Let’s get a grip. This was wrong, but it wasn’t the Katyn Massacre or the destruction of the Warsaw Ghetto. We can handle those Marines, and now we’re going to move on.”

My prediction? Ain’t gonna happen. Political correctness and its commissars are in full control of our senior military leaders. It really has been horrifying to see top generals wet their pants because a few Marines peed on Taliban corpses. Come on, guys! Bad things happen in wars. By any reasonable standard, this is small potatoes (or tiny kebabs).

The pathetic truth is that our media want our troops to do awful things—not only because it makes a great story, but because it vindicates their life-choices. If you really want to put things in perspective, remember that all journalists are parasites (even the best of them): They live off the deeds and misfortunes of others. They get paid for being voyeurs. In war, they live on the battlefield’s leavings, just as they profit from crime in time of peace. Without brave men and women in uniform, they wouldn’t be able to make their bones as war correspondents. The fundamental problem here is jealousy (Freudian and otherwise). The journalists want to be the heroes, but want to pay the lowest possible dues in brief installments.

No one so far has attempted to explain the stresses of counterinsurgency operations, what it’s like to face an enemy who refuses to face you, but hides among civilians—and who engages in boundless cruelty and treachery not only against you, but against his own people.

What those Marines did was wrong. But the media’s delight in blowing up the story has been the real crime.

It continues in Iraq...the strategy of al Qaeda in Iraq to bring the country into a full blown sectarian civil war as today a bombing of a housing complex in Mosul killed at least 8 people, most of whom were women and children.

A car bomb exploded inside a residential complex housing displaced Shia Muslims in the Iraqi city of Mosul on Monday, killing at least eight people and wounding four, hospital and police sources said.

The bombing was the latest in a series of attacks on Shia pilgrims and other targets since a political crisis erupted a month ago in Iraq’s fragile power-sharing government, split among Shia, Sunni Muslim and Kurdish blocs.

“The hospital received eight bodies including four women, three children and a man and another four wounded,” said Laith Habbaba, manager of the Hamdaniya Hospital in Mosul.

Police confirmed the number of casualties.

On Saturday, a suicide bomber disguised as a policeman killed at least 53 people and wounded scores in an attack on Shia pilgrims at a checkpoint in the southern city of Basra.

Over the weekend, one of the first leaders of Iraq after the U.S. drove Saddam Hussein out of power relayed that President Obama was wrong to say that the U.S. is leaving a stable country and he pointed to this relentless assault by al Qaeda in Iraq.

The fact of the matter is that many of us predicted this - pull U.S. troops out and the bloody massacre would start and what none of the pussies on the Left in America will admit is that we had troops in Iraq the past six months of our engagement there with very, very few casualties to American troops.

Mosul, 390 kilometres north of Baghdad, was once an al Qaeda stronghold, and witnessed some of the fiercest fighting during the war that followed the 2003 US-led invasion.

Taliban Make Pakistani Shias Pay For Being Shias By Bombing Procession, 13 Killed Outside of Mosque

Pakistan is predominantly Sunni Muslim and so Shias in the country don't exactly have an easy go of it at any time but when it comes to religious pilgrimages and observances, they are especially vulnerable and today wasn't any different as a bomb went off outside of a mosque filled with Shias - the end result was 13 killed and at least 20 wounded....it's my guess that the death toll will rise.

A bomb blast ripped through a religious procession in eastern Pakistan on Sunday, killing 13 people and wounding at least 20 in the latest sectarian attack in the volatile country, police said.

Hundreds of Pakistani Shiites had gathered in the town of Khanpur in Punjab province for a traditional procession to mark the end of 40 days of mourning following the anniversary of the death of Imam Hussein, a revered seventh-century figure.

The explosion went off as the mourners came out of a mosque, said District Police Chief Sohail Chatta. The bomb appeared to have been planted ahead of time in the path of the procession, he said.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Pakistani Taliban and other Sunni extremist groups have in the past claimed responsibility for the bombings of Shiite religious sites and ceremonies. Many Sunni extremists in Pakistan regard Shiites as heretics.

The Taliban and other groups have carried out hundreds of bombings over the last five years that have killed thousands of Pakistani troops and civilians as part of a campaign to install a hard-line Islamist government.

We just saw how Sunnis in Iraq set off bombs at a Shia pilgrimage in Iraq that killed over 50 Shias just yesterday and now the Pakistanis are dealing with the same terror death sentences. One of the keys here to understand when dealing with the Taliban is that they truly see their version of Islam as the only one condoned by Mohammed - so, in essence, a Shia muslim really isn't that much different from infidels like you and me.

And this is exactly why there is no negotiating with the Taliban - they have a vision of this world that their brand of faith must be observed by every human on the globe...any thing less than that to them is a job failed by them.

Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah said police investigators were still examining the area for clues. Security had been provided for the procession, but it had been breached, Sanaullah said.

The continuing strikes by presumed religious extremists come amid a political crisis that pits the Pakistani civilian government against the military, and which has sparked rumors of an impending coup.

Last week the military warned the government of possible "grievous consequences" ahead and Zardari took a one-day trip to Dubai that renewed speculation that he might flee the country.

Analysts say the military may be looking for the Supreme Court to push out President Asif Ali Zardari rather than risk an outright takeover.
