Democrats In U.S. Senate Blocking Resolution To Honor Britain's Lady Thatcher

The members of the United States Senate are supposed to be statesmen.  These 100 individuals occupy the most powerful seats in our Government other than the President.  Their concern is supposed to be that of the entire country, not just their state.  And we see the Marxists of the U.S. Senate resort to the childish behavior of blocking a resolution to honor the former Prime Minister of Britain.  Let me ask the question...what the fuck did Margaret Thatcher ever do to Dick Durbin? or Harry Reid?  or Barbara Boxer?  You're right, not a damn thing.

This is the Left's war on women - it started with Sarah Palin and now they have proven that even the most "stately" of leftist politicians in this country have been reduced to attacking a woman who is dead.

What a joke.

The story comes from Family Security Matters.

DISGRACEFUL: U.S. Liberals are Blocking Resolution to Honor Lady Thatcher

Senators belonging to the Democratic Party of the United States are reportedly blocking a Senate resolution honouring the life and work of the late Margaret Thatcher, who passed away earlier this week.

The Heritage Foundation reports that a Senate resolution to honour Lady Thatcher was supposed to pass last night. However, "well placed sources on the Hill", have reported that Democrats have a hold on the resolution.

Writing for Heritage's Forge Blog, Katherine Rosario, think-tank's Communications Deputy said: "To refuse to honor a woman of such great historical and political significance, who was deeply loyal to the United States, is petty and shameful. One truly has to wonder, what is it about Lady Thatcher that gives them pause? Her unfaltering commitment to freedom? Or perhaps the way she fought for individual liberty and limited government?"

Congress used traditional bereavement procedures, the same model they used for John F. Kennedy, described as a simple, solemn means of honouring the individual by passing a resolution and immediately adjourning.

Britain’s House of Commons was recalled, bringing members of Parliament back from vacation to honour Lady Thatcher.

Rosario also stated, "One would naturally think it impossible that anyone would hesitate – even for an instant – to honour the woman who tackled communism head on as prime minister of Great Britain. Lady Margaret Thatcher was a principled politician who helped to foster the special relationship between Great Britain and the United States that we all benefit from today."

Maybe because she called Nelson Mandela a terrorist and supported Apartheid and considered Pinochet of Chile a good man. I don't know, those don't seem like good positions to hold. What do you think?

Care to explain how a man who spent 27 years in prison for a noble cause using non-violent disobedience was a terrorist? Findalis? Then MLK and Gandhi were terrorists too. Right? If we're using your thought process.

And her association with Pinochet? Calling him a good example of a "democratic leader?" Was she mocking the Chilean people with those kind of statements?

Even if he did eventually use violent means, wasn't it justified to end the despicable policy of Apartheid? What would you do? Funny how you right wingers talk so lovingly of war and armed insurrection, but when somebody does it against you or someone you support, they're automatically "terrorists."

What was her justification for keeping Northern Ireland occupied? Sure the IRA used terror tactics, but what choice do they have when she increases aid to Protestant paramilitary groups like the UVF, LVF and The Black and Tans.

Thatcher also supported Saddam Hussein. Even AFTER the Halabja attack on Kurdish regions in 1988. You know the dictator that was supposed to be the biggest menace to the world in 2003.

Oh and I almost forgot. Her hypocrisy on combating Communism. She told Gorbachev to send in the tanks like Kruschev did in Budapest in 1956 and Brezhnev in Prague in 1968 when East Germans started to rise up in 1989. So much for her anti-communist crusade, easily superseded by her desire not to see a United Germany, a potential and eventual economic powerhouse and Continental rival.

She was a flawed figure. And on the wrong side of history on many issues, from Apartheid to supporting people like Pinochet and Saddam.
